- So Project Rats Nest XJ has been becoming an overlander but there is still a long ways to go for it to be capable of long term camping. So we fix some of the issues with new suspension parts from Skyjacker along with creating more valuable room inside of the Cherokee using Filthy Addictions Offroad bumper and Barnes 4wd molle panels for the windows to carry more supplies. Then we head south to the great wheeling area of Choke Cherry Canyon in Farmington, NM to test the skills of my old propane powered Suzuki Samurai.

Colt is one of the dudes you hope wins the lottery. I bet he’d help a stranger, no strings. He’d help a friend before he fixed his own stuff. This dude needs his own channel with sponsors and fans and big cool builds
He's married.. chill the fuck out
Doesn't matter if it's Colt or Matt, both of these guys are entertaining and informative. Lots of useful assembly/fabrication info transfers to other things. Not just jeeps. One of our favorite youtube channels.
Nah, Colt all day, Matts weird.
Another great lecture from Professor Colt, the undisputed expert of off-road vehicleology
Colt, you tossed that Milestar spare like it was a 195/70 - R13. Another great video.
Colt, you nailed it outta the park again with this one. A virtual smorgasbord at the all you can eat video buffet filled with everybody's favorites - crawling, climbing, how-to and fabrication. Thanks and cheers!
Colt, You make the best RUclips content hands down. Hope you get to upload more.
I’m glad you’re still on BJ at least for one more Colt! Looking forward to all you do.
Here's an idea. Get a youtube convoy of all the guys/gals that Colt has helped or worked with and do a vehicle shuffle. @trailmater @mischiefmake @morr @fabrats , etc, and help colt get moved. Rig haulers, covered trailers, the works. What a way to show him the love he gives to everyone.
Casey’s originally from down in that neck of the woods maybe he needs to do a return home with a couple of his big flatbeds, and help move the vehicles.
Coil is popping out under droop is why a lot of off-road vehicles use torsion bars. Spring retaining clubs or plates definitely help. Looks like Coleman paying attention to Desert racers.
Good luck to Colt on his new project!
I agree on getting and using the electric saw and other tools but having that back up axe when the saw quits will be a life saver. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Love the videos Colt glad to see rats nest getting some love
Yeah, I bought a Max-Ax setup after I had one as BII for a 1114 Up Armor Hummer back around 00-01 after I got back from Bosnia. I mounted it on the backseat of my XJ. Then moved to my Wrangler Unlimited now my JT. Not a good shovel but there when you need it, good ax though.
Bleepin Matt, bleepin rose, bleepin colt and josh have the best offoad content on youtube! ❤
Love your videos Colt. Some awesome wheeling, nice fab work, with a little bit of how to thrown in.
Colt, great video! Ive been a offroader/rock crawler most of my life. My buddy got me into overlanding about a year ago. So ive been buiding my own overlanding rig out of a 2015 RAM 1500. Still got a lil to go b4 its "complete" but never finished.
Thanks for all the awesome videos! I have learned a lot watching them. Cant wait till the next one.
I have to comment! I watched the original goodyear extreme rock crawling movies as a kid I still have the vhs tapes !! So im absolutely nostalgic seeing that that is offs white and pink scrambler the one I remember pulling a 3wheel over the fall. Absolutely awesome.
Farmington is my favorite for sure!! Rick is an awesome person!!
You've got to take Rory out on them trails. He's been wanting to do them for a while now. Love watching your channel. Thanks for the video stay safe man.
You're the man, Colt!!

Nice to see some fun trails in NM. Keep em coming Colt!

Welcome to Farmington! I've lived here for about 3 years now. If you need anything let me know! Honestly, I'd be happy to help!
Can't wait for the new channel ....
really like the direction with rats nest. your videos always make me want to work on my xj then I remember it costs money😂
I feel that as I've been stacking part's at a buddy's and just working and waiting almost patiently for summer and I'm off till next season so Build my midlife crisis begins 😂
Love your videos and your rigs . Should have put this on your new page. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You are absolutely correct the green Chile is better here..
Awesome content Colt looking forward to more!!
That Jeep is lookin sweet!
Looks great Colt, love it!
I have the exact same set up, but in a 4 1/2 inch lift on my xj and I absolutely love skyjacker suspension
Great video Colt
Always enjoy seeing new areas to off-road.
Hey Cole, I’m a full-time Overlander and as soon as I handle my parents estate, I’ll be back on the road full-time if you need any help transporting any of those vehicles or just an extra set of hands I got no other place to be once I leave here. Happy to help, I grew up a backyard mechanic in my dad’s automotive and race car fabrication shop so I got a couple of skills in the auto industry.
Nice introduction to what looks like fun! The Bureau of Tourism will be calling to get video footage they can publish in their ads.
The best way to deal with body roll is with an anti-swaybar system, however, Offroad swaybars, do the exact opposite of what you’re looking for. I’ve engineered some pretty sophisticated, anti-swaybar systems. Some of them even include an auto disconnect and/or travel limited actuation feature. If the shocks don’t solve the issue you might end up investigating that.
Amazing video! Love that rear bumper for the cherokee. Can't wait for more videos👍👍👍👍
That 4Runner have streets cred 👍🏾👍🏾
Love that rig, keep up the great work!
23:54 Tejai rockin one of my chassis’s. 😎😎😎 🇺🇸
Yeah. That’s a bit of a pucker point on the honeymoon. Seen a few recoveries there and have had to spot some ppl they there. Instinct makes you want to climb too high on the left to avoid the loose drop off held together with chain link fencing that attempts to hood the rocks in place on the lower track. Good times!
Dang i love this jeep. Such an amazing rig.
In the 90s me and a lot of my friends ran all over choke cherry on 31s and wheeled out there. That whole area use to be wide open.
Awesome episode a little bit of everything ... rocklander some tech and some trails
Funny you mentioned Harold opening that trail. I'm sure he did it on 35 or 36 inch tires back in the day. That's what we ran back then. I ran a trail with Harold down in Alamogordo I think I still have the video. Anyways welcome to NM maybe we'll see you out on the trail. Yep still got the video Harold was driving a white and pink Scrambler super nice rig.
Heck yah! I’ve been interested in those! I’ll have to see what they have for my manche rear.
Waiting for colt builds it to drop some content!
I am so envious, I still love New Mexico, good for you! I have an XJ and I take a axe, a collapsible bow saw a hatchet and a folding saw. The first two are because I have been on trails with trees and debris that comes down during the day and blocks the way out. It is rare I need to use these but you could mount them on your molly contraption. The hatchet and folding saw I use for smaller jobs that are camp related like processing firewood for example. I have a small shovel and a back packing snow shovel that I interchange depending on the season.
I run Skyjacker monotubes on my one ton International Scout traveler. Skyjacker and Bilstiens are always my go to!!
Welcome to Farmington
Have BOTH, You'll Need & Be Glad You Have BOTH 😜
Colt, always loved what you do..
I'm in Tucson and would love to help you move.. plus would be insane to see your vehicles offroad..
I know you have a ton of offers.. just thought I'd offer as well!
Best of luck!
Awesome your coming to NM Welcome from Deming NM
Hey Colt, im here in Farmington too Crazy thing i i used to live in Custer, out past crazy horse in the valley behind the helicopter tours I started watching you cause your from Custer and now you're down here crazy. Maybe I'll see you on the trails.
Nice video with a little bit of everything thanks for sharing and you definitely have an interesting collection of toys. Best of luck with the move you definitely have way too much stuff!🍻
Loving the new setup.
How about a land anchor for which puts in those not so good areas. I’ve been using one for over 40 years they can be a life saver.
Rory has one one trail mater.
Reason for shovel and axe is that in some states you are required to have them along with a large fire extinguisher to be permitted to be on forest service roads and trails during fire season.
Looking good Colt. Hope you get your stuff moved to New Mexico as quickly as you can. As much moving as we did when I was growing up I know how much of a hassle it can be. As you said yourself with as much stuff as you have and as far of a move you are making it's not much fun. The more you could move at once the better. The use of a battery powered chain saw is nice but I think it's a good idea to have an axe or regular folding saw in case something happens to the battery powered option. You know Murphy's law right if something can go wrong it will at the worst possible time. Best of luck to you stay safe and healthy.
The battery powered Milwaukee and DeWalt chainsaws are awesome for the small stuff you run into on the trail.
13:00 Hey that's my move! Lol
OMG thats a name from the past I bought a near new 95 grand Cherokee with 318ci the ZJ i remember well i put a 4 inch skyjacker lift on it and it was the talk of the town in maine i was living
You’re the best
Loved the vid Colt. What are you guys planned on taking to sandhollow.
Man buddy i hope that sky jacker stuff works out , because the complaints about their customer service are Horrid all over the jeep forums.. hope it works out for you👍 AND Colt your overland rig is looking super sweet👍
Looks like the intimidator trail I got to be one of the first to go on it
A lot of states and federal land require shovel and axe to be with you. I like your all in one kit.
Colts own channel soon??? Im down!
Hey Colt you need a higher roof garage and a lift.
Axes are silly compared to a chainsaw. I carry a small axe but also a 18 inch chain saw too on every run. I've seen several rigs turn around on trails because they could not cut trees off the trail in Colorado.
Both Battery Powered bits and old Skool human powered is your best bet… redundancy and useful for a passenger.
42" reds or 42" treps would be most dope on your buggy colt.
Battery powered chainsaw is the way to go and yes carry a shovel
Ish is my favorite measurement, when I can
I carry a Hardcore Hammer Survival hatchet, and the El Cheepo Mini chainsaw.
Hey, Colt. When are you starting your new RUclips channel, and what are you calling it? Blame Rory Irish, because he told us on his Monday Live
You need some more Horse torque's in that lil green buggy.
Can’t believe you moved to New Mexico
I didn't realize it right away but that's the drag axle isn't it? I'm glad it's the same color as the rear steer
I use my engine hoist for everything including picking up vehicles. Lol
Rats nest is my dream build basically rock lander
The garage at yout new house looks just like the one at your old house! 😂
Colt saw you in the glade in the ultimate S10 .
Since putting new stocks on Id go ahead and get an alignment done..
I carry a shovel, and an exe. I do also have a battery powered chain saw, but I want both. My chainsaw isn't a sledgehammer, or a maul. Its also not a shovel. I can trust a shovel and an axe more than any electronic device.
Rechargeable.
In your travels if ya need anything im between fort collins and denver give me a shout and good luck
I'm in El paso. If you don't wanna keep that bumper I could really use it on my 2kxj. Ran outta money after having to replace the engine all of a sudden , couldn't find a good used one and the reman stuff had horrible reviews, local machine shops wanted over 3 to 5k to do it so I went with a 4.7l stroker engine. If you wanna get rid of it lemme know coz I need one. Also if you wanna wheel sometime lemme know. I'm an auto tech for 23 years but I'm new to 4x4 stuff and I'm also an excellent driver and up for a challenge without destroying my stuff😂
All 4 Adventure: www.youtube.com/@All4AdventureTV/playlists
If only you knew someone with a wrecker that might be able to help you move some vehicles 😏🤣😂
Brother, you look good. I heard you lost 120lbs. I'm happy for you and I'm curious as to what you did to lose it. I'm starting my journey to lose at least 70 lbs myself. Any advice would help. Thanks bro. Love the Jeep
Addco sway bar fix my jk when the smart bar crap out.
I wish that I had a semi truck and trailer so i can help Colt move.
So where did you get the “ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” sticker Colt? 🤔👍🏻
Where could i find the coil spacers like than and the wide bracket to bolt them in??
Colt what are the specs on your Samurai as far as engine and gearing go?
The balance of an XJ cant be matched!!!
❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
Gullwing windows would give you outside access .
leave the slider in and make a pull out tray. easier to get thing s in and out instead of having to reach over things
Got some nice Patagonia's?
