To what extent can you do slipping crosswind landings in the frogfoot? You demonstrate a crabbed landing, but I’d like to see a slip. I’m more familiar with slipping crosswind landings because it is safer in the Cessnas I fly, but is it better in fighter jets? Edit: nevermind, you touch down in a slip :)
Hey sir, thank you so much for these videos. Very new to the game and am have the a very difficult time understanding the navigation mission and can never get to the landing part. I am able to complete the multiple missions but never can complete the landing sequence. If you or anyone can help or have any tips plz let us know. I am about to call it on this game. I am using the T16000m sticks and throttle set up, Thank you again.
For me, landing is the most fiddly part of flying the Frog. It's so delicate and its nose gear is so fragile that you really have to master smooth landings in order to avoid popping its tire on the braking. And on top of that, it has such a small landing AoA clearance that I always feel like I'm gonna tail strike as soon as I touchdown.
Like any aircraft, once you do enough landings it becomes second nature. As you saw in these clips, it's not that dramatic. Follow the speeds and you will be fine.
Just use the auto-approach and turn it off at 100m altitude. You now have a perfectly trimmed Toadie-T with the ideal sink rate, regardless of wind or center of gravity (unless they're _extreme_ ). Just hold the stick straight and you'll touch the ground in the most gentle way possible.
Hi all. I've been 'playing' (crashing more like) DCS for a few weeks. I bought the fc3 pack, I love the 'Soviet' era planes. I am having the most fun I've had from a game in the longest time. I feel so chuffed when I get any plane down in one piece, ahem, doesn't happen too often. However, my consistency is absolute dog's. I'm guessing the answer to the question I have is 'git gud/practise, practise, practise' but are there any tips on consistency? Are there ways to help a budding mass murderer to, at least, land without exploding too many times? Speaking of mass murdering, are there more to this series or are they still in production? Btw, @ralfidude, your presntation, both visually and verbally is excellent. The production of the videos is of the same high quality. It's hard to give any constructive critisism as they are simply on the money. Even though you do have that weird, colonist accent. What is it you peeps call it? Murcan is it? 😉 Thank you for the great videos, the tons of laughs and an audience that is a huge positive change from the 'social media political officianados', I'm used to hearing. Thank you @ralfidude and all the great contributors here. Take care. All the best from the horrible islands of past imperialism (even though we still attempt to run with the Big Boys) Cheers, Dave
Finally gona be capable of using the froggy with your series ! ive always steered clear of it but your previous videos make it look a joy. im an avid A-10cii pilot so whats the froggy good for ?
Frogfoot can do pretty much the same missions as the A-10, with a bonus of being able to take down some mid-range SAMs with the KH-25 Anti-Radiation Missiles. The A-10, on the other hand, can barely tackle something like an SA-11 site alone without risking itself getting shot first. The Frogfoot is considerably faster than the Warthog, but it's MUCH LESS maneuverable, and it drinks fuel like a gopnik drinks his vodka, while the A-10 can fly for more than an hour with it's full tank.
I was all about the Hog but have been enjoying the heck out of the Frog-T lately. Being able to carry 4x anti radiation missiles plus 16x ATGMs is pretty fun.
@@ColonelAkirNakesh Should be able to carry 6x, I think? Two Kh-58U big bois, and four Kh-25MPUs. The froggy's specialty vs. the A-10 is indeed SEAD/DEAD, but it can also carry 16 laser guided Vikhr missiles (comparable to laser Mavericks, and only takes up two stations!), along with some laser or TV guided missiles, so it's really good at taking out large groups of armor from a standoff. Of course the Shkval isn't anywhere near as good as the Litening, and can only look forward (a fair bit to the sides and down as well, but mainly forward), so you have to fly towards the area you're scouting with it, can't just hang around doing orbits. It's an interesting challenge vs. the A-10, definitely makes you approach the fight in a different way. I personally love the little bugger. =)
@@jubuttib yeah! 6x ARMs! But the Vikhrs can only go on that one pylon so I just take the 4x ARMs and 16x Vikhrs. It's a crazy amount of firepower, I usually use both 58s on Tors then the 25s on any Osas left over. Vikhr in the face for anything left that can shoot back. Wish the Hog had ARMs.
Yes, however the yellow line will be pointing towards the left or right, showing you which way you need to correct. Then turn past the yellow to catch the course line before turning back to parallell. If you just point the aircraft to the yellow you will converge on the course at the exact moment you hit your waypoint, not what you want when landing.
at a short enough distance, using runway lights, ur eyes, you should be able to visualize the the runway. remember to use ur eyes on or final approach, not ur instruments. it will help u a lot
Hey Ralfi, nice series you are doing here. I'm not really a neewbie in DCS but some of the things you are talking about here show up some bad habbits that I need to get rid off. Greetings Milan
Great tutorial, something to note though. On Su-25T, applying wheel brakes above 200 km/h will shift weight to the front of the aircraft dramatically and potentially damage the tire. Regular procedure is to deploy air brakes, assess if you can slow down below 200 km/h before it's too late, otherwise deploy the parachute.
I want to get my first module, but I don't know what to get. I love the a-10 but it's slow and sluggish, but I want to do air to ground and air to air, so I was thinking the f/a-18, thoughts?
You guys live long enough to land?
Most of the time.
in MP i usually get Teamkilled before.
*bleeping*
'That's the inner beacon. That'll be the last sound you hear.'
😧
'... Before landing.'
😅
(Excellent series so far, thanks, Ralfi.)
😆 Yes, that was the same thought I had. Apart from spraying coffee out of my nose, I just about piss my pants 😥😆 Nice work, @misanthropologist 👍😉
23:15 fantastic visualization of the HSI needles

Cannot wait for we weapons tutorial. Really love this series. Pls keep going strong.

As always, amazing stuff. Keep it up. Looking forward to the next one!
Where did you get the background photo?
Can't wait anymore for the next episode :)

lol he did pop a tyre in the last crabbed landing

I'm no expert but I think it keeps the bomber pilots from all being on the same side.

Am I right in thinking even if you're parallel to the course line but a few km away from it, the double white lines will be at 12 o'clock position?

jesus no wonder I was getting so mad at trying to learn how to land, I had a massive crosswind fighting me -_-
took me one whole hour to land successfully :D
On the drogue chute thing, I think you can manually cut them loose by pressing P again, so you don't need to slow down as much?
Yes you can, which can be annoying if you think it didn't deploy and cut it when you try again.
@@mgk1397 Better look behind you then, I guess. =)

You intended to land with the speedbrake out, right?
Right?
Yeah, you can absolutely land with them extended. Sometimes it's even desirable. Especially with aircraft that have slow throttle response times.
I miss you ralfi.
I miss you ralfi.
Finally, something to help with the Froggie landing. Thanks Ralf.
Goddamit ralfi... *brakes, not breaks

F/A18 is the best multi role aircraft, so yes. If you plan on doing A/G + A/A, get the F/A18.
Can’t wait for the weapons videos!
I really like these tutorials but i do miss your little outro, like you did on the A10 series. Why so serious?😉
