I know this is an old video but i think you just saved me! I didnt want to start a new craft and i cannot wrap my head around tapestry crochet but this, this is the perfect thing!!! tysm for this video
Thank you for clearly showing where to insert the needle. I'm left handed, so I'll just go to the hole to the left of the bar. Thanks again. You helped me a lot!
It's so awesome seeing you do a tutorial for this. I was hoping you would when I mentioned it on one of your other Tunisian tutorials. Back in the '80s I had made several baby blankets using (what we called back then) the "Afghan stitch" and I would cross stitch little animala on the squares of the blankets. Don't be afraid to do it using multiple colors as well, just like in cross stitch. If you use really small weight yarn and a small hook, you can even make some pretty intricate "cross stitching" designs for pillows, blankets, wall hangings, bed spreads (if you are REALLY bored, lol). You can even mix n' match... using regular worsted wt squares, AND DK or even smaller weights with the cross stitch squares, all in one piece. It's really fun to experiment with. I don't know for a fact that my comment on the other tutorial is what sparked your interest in doing this, but I'm glad to see you having fun with it!
I just recently found and started listening to the Love Crafts Show podcast and heard your episode yesterday (while doing some yard work). I have tried doing cross stitch on single crochet before, but never thought of doing it on tunisian. I made an entire Game of Thrones blanket in tunisian for my partner, which she loves, but I think it would have been significantly easier to have done it with cross stitch. I will definitely have to give this a try. Thanks for the great tip.
Thank you so much for the tutorial, Toni! I've cross-stitched once before (2019) on TSS fabric, but I think I mostly winged it. (Good tutorials were hard to find.) Now I'm making something for another friend that I've designed myself. I've got the fabric done (finally), and now I'm ready for the cross-stitching. Your tutorial shows the clearest how-to. :)
I am so excited to watch this video that I had to comment before I played it! I have cross-stitched many years ago and as I learned Tunisian crochet this last year, so I've wondered how I could experiment with it and see how it would turn out. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! I love this I’m adding it to a sampler Tunisian blanket I’m making which was inspired by your channel! I will share it on a video I’m doing next week! TFS😊💕😍
You’re wonderful!! I just had to state that...plus it’s the first time I EVER was first to view and comment..pretty big deal to me! You know..Quarantine 🤪
Toni, you’re so talented! I’m a new knitter, but I have years of crocheting under my belt, but still find myself making tons of mistakes! What’s your secret?
Thank you for sharing! Is there a way to have your cross stitching not show from the wrong side? I saw someone else's video where they were cross stitching just using the front stitches but I felt that their crosses were pulled too tightly.
Do you have a Tunisian crochet video with stars on it (crochet instead of cross) One of my best friends asked me to make her a throw with stars but idk how to make stars. I would really like to make it for her.
could you use embroidery thread for this? i assume you wouldn't want to split the strands like you normally would in cross stitch, but do you think you could use a full strand instead of yarn?
Marsha Erickson Oh really? Cool 😀 Can you tag the link to that video or post about cross stitching without it showing on the back, in case others have that same question?
This video was fine until I realized you only showed how to do one little square. As someone who has never cross stitched it would have been nice to see how to go to the next row, why it looked like you did a line of legs and then went back through the other direction, etc.

Thanks for combining my 2 fave crafts! So many ideas floating around now.
I never even considered doing something like this before. Thank you for sharing and broadening my scope. Stay safe and all the best 💜

Toni - you continue to amaze us! I love your videos! Especially during quarantine you are keeping me sane!
This was awesome and you made it look so easy! Thanks so much!
This is so cute!! I bet you could do sashiko on Tunisian crochet too
That is a perfect lesson! I will use the technique on my next tunisian crochet project! Thanks!
Someone NEEDS to do some cross stitching on your Sedona Sweater! 😍😍😍
Thank you sooooooo much for sharing your gifts with us!!!
Love this, trying to crochet heart beanies and headbands with not having tons of string behind .. I’m excited
I just saw this posted on your Instagram. I was hoping you'd share the knowledge😁Thank you Toni

I did this with a paid Star Wars pattern!
Oh my goodness. I cross stitch ALL THE TIME. I never even thought of this. I am an absolute IDIOT.

Toni, I love the aluminum flex hook, having a hard time finding them. Help
/oni I love ur tutorials. Have learned many new stitches. Look forward to the tutorials. Keep up the fantastic job. GO, GO, GO.

Great video! Tried to join fb group but no one has approved request. 💜🧶
👍👍👍
Can I just iron it to flatten the tunisian?l crochet?
I'd be careful with that - synthetic fibers will melt if ironed, and natural fibers may flatten. I would recommend blocking as shown.
@TLYarnCrafts okay, thank you so much!
How would you cross-stitch on Tunisian so you can’t see in the back?
Marsha Erickson you can’t.
TL Yarn Crafts yes you can I have been watching Creative Grandma
Marsha Erickson Oh really? Cool 😀 Can you tag the link to that video or post about cross stitching without it showing on the back, in case others have that same question?
She has a video tutorial.
