The writers did Marinette dirty by making her so creepily obsessed with Adrien... It can't even be excused by " it's normal young girl with a crush behaviour" (which I've seen many people do) ... no it's not... 😩 but then again no one acts reasonable in the show ..WHY WRITERS WHY
That’s part of why my interest in the show is half-hearted! MARINETTE IS LITERALLY A CREEPY STALKER WHO OBSESSES OVER HER CRUSH AND IT’S NOT HEALTHY. Also why I prefer Lukanette over Adrienette (right now). Marinette needs to stop putting Adrien on such a pedestal.
Whatever, that's really a cartoon thing. It's a way to express comedy by overdoing her attitude, I just decided to not pay attention to that

Same here, not helps that everyone supports her and forces her to like him. Not to mention Adrien wouldn't be right for her since he's basically a doormat with for instance letting Chloe and Lila do what they want (bullying). I didn't even see any flashbacks on then being childhood friends, like them hanging out and everything just made me lose interest about the show.

What kinda made me mad about chloes "betrayal" is that we know she started believing in marinette and ladybug. We can see that in the episode "ladybug" when she doesn't get akumatized by the red akumas. It means that she believes in marinette. And I think that at least at the end of malediktator, she started understanding why she can't be queen bee all the time. So it really pissed me off when she just lost all that development
Part of this is because the creator of the show has a Vendetta against a 16 year old :)

20:06 honestly, I'd love to see Rea explain her thoughts on Chloe & Gabriel as characters in depth, especially since she sees Chloe as well-written. Maybe she can even change my mind.
(messy ramble on my current stance on Chloe & Gabriel below)
My stance on the both of them is that they're poorly-written but have/had a whole lot of potential.
Chloe for similar reasons to Rea, and Gabriel because, seriously, if it weren't for his monologues, he'd have been a potentially really interesting gray morality villain. A man motivated by love for his family, by wanting to see his family together and whole and happy again, willing to go as far as he has to to get the MacGuffins needed to achieve his goal? Who has been fighting the very son he wants to see happy, unbeknownst to both of them? That could've been *really* interesting, even if some of the darker stuff might need to be glossed over because *aimed at young-ish children, hello?* (That said, I swear, if people come out of the woodwork saying the writing of a kid's show shouldn't be criticized bc "iT's fOr KiDs" im gonna let out an unholy SCREECH. kids deserve QUALITY CONTENT, too!!)
Buuut instead from the very start the writers couldn't decide if they want a villain with complex, understandable motivations but an MO you can't come to support or a hammy bastard you love to hate complete with corny monologues (because, seriously, his monologue NEVER REMOTELY ALLUDE TO HIS SUPPOSED REAL MOTIVATIONS and half the time it ends up *feeling* like he's more motivated by the power that comes with having the LB & BC miraculous than aiming to accomplish a deeply personal goal). So we got a mish-mashed mess, and I think this in part led to Gabriel's sudden lack of cares given about beating up a teenager who could very well be his son (as seen in Mayura & I think also Chat Blanc? From what I've gathered thru discussion, anyway). like yeah in at least Mayura, he'd had reason earlier in the season to not believe Chat is his son any longer, but like, I would *think* the concern of "but *what if*" would linger...
Chloe, I think, still has a chance to have her writing salvaged mostly believably (though probably not completely satisfactorily), because while the S1 set-up for her having a long-stretching arc about struggling to find acceptance (in others & in herself) and figure out morality (since her parents--the only 2 authority figures she's ever had to listen to--sure were terrible guides on that front, it *makes sense* that she'd make mistakes, even severe ones that SEEM like "well duh" stuff to people who had more normal upbringings with more than just 2 authority figures who constantly abused their own power as examples to learn from, and she could be able to come back from this[1]) was pretty bad, it definitely *does* have decent support in S2 (and maybe S3, I still haven't gotten around to watching it). So if the writers play their cards right moving forward, she could still turn out okay as a character (as a person is entirely up in the air, and subjective anyway).
But... if I'm gonna be fully honest, I don't have too high hopes based on the current track record. Who knows, though? Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
[1] Chloe's done a lot of Bad Things but she's not completely irredeemable (I mean, I personally, believe ANY character--any PERSON--*could* be redeemed with the right circumstances, and also remember that redemption =/= free from consequences/karma), just a redemption would take a *lot* of work and the writers would have to remember to make her *want* a redemption at this point. bc, side bar, but that's a big thing about redemption arcs: actual redemption doesnt just HAPPEN to people, they have to WANT IT and WORK FOR IT
