Add life to old background and collage papers with wallpaper paste.
This creates fine details and flat texture. I use a variety of tools to create marks, shapes and lines.
You will need some small tubs, wallpaper paste, acrylic paint, brushes and some mark making tools. I also had a tub of water to put stencils etc in after use to prevent paste drying on them.
I hope you enjoy.

After your last video about marbling, I was wondering if you were going to give paste papers a try. And here we are! Fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Happy Hogmanay apple. Darn, I’ve become predictable 😂😖😩
I’ve also been using the pastes on large canvases. These are useful and I like they increase drying time, can texturise then they dry flat. Fantastic effects.
@@quirkyqueens oh no! Not predictable! No you. Never. You're always surprising me; I was just delighted that my mind went the same way yours did. Happy Hogmanay to you too! Here's to a new year.
Great painty papers Kirsten. I have never tried this technique. Fun session to watch! 😄
Happy Hogmanay Yolande. It was easy and I have been using them on large canvases too. Interesting additional effects.
@@quirkyqueens Happy New Year Kirsten! Looking forward to your creations in 2024!
@@devonrex4 and yours. I still need to catch your last live. The holidays are really impacting my viewing time 🤨😠😂

Love this!!! I need to order some paste. I was wondering, could you apply a gloss medium over the ones that are too dull? I didn't know if it would affect the colors or not though.
Hi Paula, happy new year!! It seems to be completely permanent when dry. That’s a great idea and it could even be used in specific areas to create a bit of variety. Surely a shinier area would be more of a focal point 🤔🤓😁
Great papers! Haven’t seen wallpaper paste in years! I like how the paint becomes more transparent when added to the paste so you can see underneath. I may have to try this. Does it always dry flat or can you build up some texture?
Happy Hogmanay Tricia, the white being more transparent was especially good. I’m not sure about building up texture, I would think it would take many layers. But it’s interesting to have texture that’s both flat and raised I think.
@@quirkyqueens Happy Hogmanay! I had to look it up! Cool holiday. I may have to try this! So much art, So little time!
Looking at wall paper paste. Many different kinds. What are you using? ❤
Hi Vicky, I’m not sure of the brand, I think it was a cheap one from the range in the UK. I threw out the packaging. It was flakes I added cold water to, stirred, wait 3 minutes, stir again and it’s ready to use.
Apologies, I didn’t know there was different types!! ❤️
Very interesting process, your creativity never ends! I enjoy watching all the new techniques you share and the way you narrate your progress.
