Hi, I have this iteration of the Longhurst , purchased around 2010, lovely quality jacket . I have the hood for it also , which was an ‘optional extra’ which attatches with press studs . Good to see appreciation of this jacket … cheers

Hi, I’m looking at buying a new Barbour and enjoying your videos. Currently have a 13 year old Olive Utility and a Blue Beacon sports jacket, medium and large respectively and both fit pretty well. I have other Barbour jackets and the sleeve lengths really vary, for those wax jackets they are excellent, I am 189cm and a bit narrow, but my Liddesdale quilter coat, rain mac (forget the model) and Arête overhead jacket are slightly short on the sleeve. Less so on the mac, but the other two you can’t wear anything too big underneath.
The Arête seems as rare to find as the Longhurst, but a nice jacket for summer walks in the country or on an island holiday in Scotland.
New coat I want is (if new) an Ashby in blue, controversial I see from your thoughts on colour long term, I just fancy something different and with a hood. When you go to the rugby or out in town there are many Olive Barbours so I quite like something different + reminds me of the jackets we had to wear at school.
Anyway, keep the videos up and if you come across a medium Longhurst jacket for sale with a hood let me know!

Sleeves, why are so many jackets so short in the sleeve length, it’s not just Barbour loads of other brands are the same, why is it so difficult for companies to make a sleeve of a reasonable length? Nice video by the way.

I assume because of the average arm length. Those with long arms suffer though.

I find loads of brands make sleeves too long.

Nice to see a video on the Longhurst. I've been trying to find out more about it after recently acquiring one. Mine doesn't have the centre seam on the sleeves, nor does it have the action back, yet all the other features are the same. I wonder if mine is a previous or more recent iteration of the version you show here. Brilliant jacket nonetheless.

Does yours have a Barbour logo by the zip that can be seen when undone? If so, it’ll be the new one I believe.

@@WaxandTartans It does indeed have the logo by the zip. Thanks for the info. Thankfully, it also has the thicker cotton tartan lining like yours (sleeves too), which really makes the jacket for me.

Great video! May I ask you how tall are you and how much do you weigh in this video? Is it a size L, right? Thanks!

Thanks mate, 5 foot 11 and not sure on weight but have a 40” chest if that helps. Size large yes.

You mentioned this has the look of the Ashby, but do you find it roomier than the Ashby?

Is this Sylkoil? I got a 2nd hand Longhurst and it seems drier also looks greener and not so brownish as the olive from the Beaufort. I’m not really sure if I should rewax.

I’m not sure actually, doesn’t say! But I get the Green aspect of it. It really is greener.

Hi. Great vid. Is the Longhurst still available? Can’t find it anywhere - not on the Barbour site either. Thanks.
