That's not how merit works. Your Merit only Reduces if you purposefully Kill your "OWN" teammates in order to steal their loot.
If your teammate kills an Enemy you can loot that enemy without any issues.

It's reasonable because of poor graphics and unrealistic gameplay I have also played that game from 2018 and continued for 3 years even after trying Pubg hoping that garena would add some realastic features like FPP and gun recoil along with graphics improvement but yeah the audiance is a dumb kind so thay never bothered to make any changes. It's been 7 years but still far away from improvement. Also it's is built on unity instead of UnrealEngine which makes it more of a trash. I don't know why most of the chappries are still playing that piece of dog sh**.
