Many countries have bands and orchestras, even the US. The US air force band is quite good. I do have to say... The "emotional swaying" for this one is so synchronized it's like it's programmed (especially when looking at the violins). Almost like... There isn't any real joy in it. And it's bizzare to hear this style of arrangement, kind of 2D and flat missing true richness and possible harmonies. I could be wrong though.
I wish there were subtitles. How are we to know if they protect their country with rice like the previous songs? Since his lord and majesty is in attendance , I'm certain we will see him riding his magical rainbow unicorn through the clouds! If we were unaware of the tragic circumstances the people live under, this would be comical. Was the lone female on the first row his concubine aka ho?

I know this a lot of effort on your end I appreciate you opening up so such a diamond in the rough.
Thanks for sharing this latest PRK concert Yeonmi.👍 But good grief, unlike some of the other concerts you have uploaded, I found this one really repetitive and depressing. The Lunar New Year is supposed to be a time of happiness. But the audience were like suited zombies: - Zero emotion. - Zero spontaneity - Zero enjoyment or smiles. - Almost zero women in the audience (99.9% men) But Kim's sister (Kim Yo-jong) was prominently filmed at the end, enthusiastically clapping her brother. Although no sign of his wife (Ri Sol-ju) or mistress (Hyong Song-wol). Kim looked nearly bored to sleep throughout the concert, before managing to waddle onto the stage to the usual choreographed adulation and cheering. What a sad and dreary spectacle for the PRK to start the New Year... 😔
I love these talented fellows. Btw, When you look at the map, North Korea is like a crown to Korean peninsula, I hope it'll shine real bright once again. I'm sure. I hope I can see that day♡
Yeonmi, you haven't slowed down one bit! I watched your One world speech again today and cried. We have come a long way but there is still so much left to do. Keep up the amazing humanitarian efforts and do not let anyone forget that North Koreans are suffering no matter what propaganda they try to show us. I support you and love you!! 🖤🖤🤗🤗 Also, Happy New Year!! May your year be full of happiness and prosperity. 🧧🧧🎉🎉
Love 😍 their dresses ❣️ well sound tunes I enjoyed them it back memories with my father even if I don't understand the words the melody is western and old fashioned to that
That march that they always start with, regardless if it's a parade or some other event like this concert, is that some kind of theme song for the party? Or for the Kims? It's obvious that it has as special place in the Hermit Kingdom, but yet I know it isn't the national anthem. What is it?
As someone who has played in orchestras and bands, I noticed in the first 20 minutes. 1. The near constant emotional sways are overdramatic and SYNCHRONIZED in the string players. It makes the whole orchestra look wiggly and strange. It also looks strange when the singers do it. (Probably made to do this to show the world how "happy/proud" they are.) 2. When not playing, the musicians are stock still making #1 even creepier to me. If you look at the cellos even their bows are at rest in the same areas and do NOT move. 3. Their arrangement for the chairs of the strings in strange. Usually the whole group is in a fan shape to help the sound play toward the audience... Not towards the other half of the orchestra. 4. I can't place it but their instruments match eachother so well. AND they're in "top" condition. The bodies of the strings are incredibly shiny. I'm not spotting and kind of individual marks or scuffs or patina on any of the instruments. This doesn't mean at all they're quality or well cared for. It's more of a sign they're new and specifically selected to look shiny and new on camera. (They could sound like crap.) It also means the musicians might not get to use their own choice of instruments... Only what is approved, no matter the quality or sound. 5. It's a military group but the stone cold faces when they play their instruments weirds me out. I played for years and I've seen what the looks of focus are and that right there is a joyless "at attention" stare. I have to wonder what kind of music would come from North Korea if it's people were free. What would their voices and instruments sound like? What would their faces and body movements express?
Also, this was not all filmed in one sitting. Hands down. There are some editing mistakes showing it. I wouldn't be surprised if the audience taping wasn't even at the concert. The lighting is similar to lighting I've experienced in China, which my orchestra had no control over. 38:30 blue light like that makes it hard to read music 43:00 red light like that is almost just as bad I've never played in or watched a western orchestra use lights like that. Only in Asia.
I'm excited to see what other amazing things North Korean people can do once they're finally free. It's just a matter of time. I'm rooting for y'all, amazing people.
World class musicians. The whole production. Even down to the camera angles and sound mixing. North Koreans always demonstrate how resourceful they are. I mean, they are an impoverished country with heavy sanctions but they pull off stuff like this. Even the instruments. They have Pearl Masters Drums, Paiste Gongs, Fender Stratocaster guitars, top class brass and woodwind instruments. Just wow!
I do enjoy the music and singing, very talented performers. What I found interesting is the set was very cheap, A movie screen and a few props for the leader of their country. They could't afford something more? Makes me wonder about the rest of the country.
Yeonmi the talent is exceptional. I did notice it is same singers at all preformenances also where is his sister and mistress.. I only noticed one women in audience. Love to you Tom
Today was a hard day at work... very tedious, the day dragged on and on and on... Then I watched this and became suddenly grateful for my profession, my passion, that I got to choose even though I grew up very poor. Do you know how hard it is to pretend you are perfect at a job interview? Try doing that for the party 24/7 for every day of your life. That single reason alone should be enough to wake us up about the dangers of communism.
To see such talent and the sound of music coming out of North Korea amazes me. I hope no one messes up, Kim Jong-un would probably have them shot. The only thing good that comes out of NK are the defectors and the sound of their music.

Thanks for sharing this latest PRK concert Yeonmi.👍
But good grief, unlike some of the other concerts you have uploaded, I found this one really repetitive and depressing.
The Lunar New Year is supposed to be a time of happiness. But the audience were like suited zombies:
- Zero emotion.
- Zero spontaneity
- Zero enjoyment or smiles.
- Almost zero women in the audience (99.9% men)
But Kim's sister (Kim Yo-jong) was prominently filmed at the end, enthusiastically clapping her brother.
In how many foreign concerts does audience show spontaneity?
I love these talented fellows. Btw, When you look at the map, North Korea is like a crown to Korean peninsula, I hope it'll shine real bright once again. I'm sure. I hope I can see that day♡
He who claps most fervently wins.
1:00:56 Wow, she has a beautiful voice!
I also see Kim’s new Mrs in the background...
Keep up the good work Yeonmi. With your fantastic humanitarian work you deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
They should have got John Travolta on the stage to do "Stayin' Alive".
Yeonmi....🙋♂️
Yeonmi, you haven't slowed down one bit! I watched your One world speech again today and cried. We have come a long way but there is still so much left to do.
Keep up the amazing humanitarian efforts and do not let anyone forget that North Koreans are suffering no matter what propaganda they try to show us. I support you and love you!! 🖤🖤🤗🤗
Also, Happy New Year!! May your year be full of happiness and prosperity. 🧧🧧🎉🎉
I thought perhaps kim would give us a solo
I wonder whether they felt honored or terrified during this performance. Maybe they felt both.
Absolutely terrified....
they are really good! They would be better free. Please the translations again! (love you, Yeonmi Park!)
Yes yes, I would love the translations, I'm sure it's very poetic
@@zazu3006 but I'm sure there talking about there "great" leader
Camera quality is like 90's. Is there camera is imported from outside country or they made themselves in north Korea?
Love 😍 their dresses ❣️ well sound tunes I enjoyed them it back memories with my father even if I don't understand the words the melody is western and old fashioned to that
who's the woman singing at 1:00:00 ? she has such a rich and gorgeous voice.
pray Kim Jong Un doesn't take a liking to her.
@Sugar Free Anthems I don't know if you've ever seen this one, but its a better version of The Soldiers Road ruclips.net/video/1Cflqninbos/видео.html
Controlled life is very complicated. The culture should be shown and be beautifully viewed and expressed to the global community
The first few minutes feel very much like George Orwell's 1984.
Lets the whole world pray together to free North Korea,Amen
Wow how you can get that videos? 😱
That march that they always start with, regardless if it's a parade or some other event like this concert, is that some kind of theme song for the party? Or for the Kims? It's obvious that it has as special place in the Hermit Kingdom, but yet I know it isn't the national anthem. What is it?
Where did you find this?? I’m really curious. It’s so unfortunate that they are there to perform praising the leader.
There won't be a copyright claim if you share this. Good
How do you manage to find and get this?
These are some amazing musicians!
Lol in the begining what was they saying when fat kim walked in it sounded like EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Thank you for a very talented and impressing concert. Happy new year! God bless North Korea. God bless the world.
Is there any chance I might get problems with copyright if I use this as soundtrack in some video/movie of mine?
Hello Yeonmi
Who made these videos??and before escape was she having a yt channel?? M new someone plz explain
As someone who has played in orchestras and bands, I noticed in the first 20 minutes.
1. The near constant emotional sways are overdramatic and SYNCHRONIZED in the string players. It makes the whole orchestra look wiggly and strange. It also looks strange when the singers do it. (Probably made to do this to show the world how "happy/proud" they are.)
38:30 blue light like that makes it hard to read music
43:00 red light like that is almost just as bad
I've never played in or watched a western orchestra use lights like that. Only in Asia.
Yeonmi i bought your book on audible , I have to say I'm impressed!
Music is liberating! So sad it done under such scrutiny and staging. Praying that one day the joy that should be expressed will be felt.
I'm excited to see what other amazing things North Korean people can do once they're finally free. It's just a matter of time. I'm rooting for y'all, amazing people.
Very beautiful and talented people.
Just wow!
Honestly, better than most of the pop music these days.
Imagine if one of them messed up. Straight to the gulags!
His sister was sitting at the end of a row in the opening shots.
I Cry for these beautiful talented people. GOD PLEASE BRING FREEDOM TO THESE LOVELY PEOPLE
I wish to see them all rebel. All of them against that one evil man, he couldn’t do anything.
Thanks for posting this great performance!
How do you feel about this? Nostalgic, happy?
Today was a hard day at work... very tedious, the day dragged on and on and on... Then I watched this and became suddenly grateful for my profession, my passion, that I got to choose even though I grew up very poor.
Do you know how hard it is to pretend you are perfect at a job interview? Try doing that for the party 24/7 for every day of your life. That single reason alone should be enough to wake us up about the dangers of communism.
Greetings from Israel! Great and amazing concert. Something unusual and incredible.
Can anyone tell me what the 2nd performance (the solo woman) is saying/singing?
To see such talent and the sound of music coming out of North Korea amazes me. I hope no one messes up, Kim Jong-un
would probably have them shot. The only thing good that comes out of NK are the defectors and the sound of their music.
Yes, how wonderful life is in the sozialist paradise of NK. Or not...
While the elite watch the glitz and glam the real people are on the outside starving
People inside are starving too.
