I bought my 900 Turbo in 1991 did not break the lenses on my fog lights until 1998. I got a new job and was commuting on I-95 daily from PA to NJ. In 4 months after I switched jobs, my fog lights broke twice. I got the fog light grills and didn't have another broken lens while I kept the car (325k miles sold it in 2005). Nice job finding those fog light grills 😊
Woah! Must have been a lot of trucks on your new work commute, lol
Yep! That stretch of I-95 is main drag between Philly & NYC
Saying hello from Sweden!
You've done a fantastic job on this Saab 900. I've seen most of your videos here. Very well done mechanical job. I'm impressed that you can find so much parts in the US at junkyards.
I bought a 900S, model year 1992, 2 years ago and have done some renovations but not as extensive as you have done. A lot of surface rust in the engine compartment and replaced all hoses, mounted intercooler that is not original on a 900S. Have bought all the workshop manuals I can find, bought spare parts at some car scraps. In the EU, new regulations are being discussed where old cars can be confiscated and scrapped if they have too many defects in the vehicle inspection. This is one of the most insane things.
Many greetings Bengt
best of luck with your restoration! :) that law can't possibly be passed - totally unfair!
❤that giant Saab bottle top! ❤️ the steering wheel too!
👍🏼😁
A Swedish plate...
It was a 9-5 Linear here in Sweden that don't exist anymore 🙂
Yeah! The owner sent it to me a few months back and it was unfortunately crashed…
Nice find on that steering wheel. It looks so much better! 👍🏼
Thank you!!
That steering wheel is fantastic- good score!
Thank you sir!
the cages really makes the fogs pop 👍👍
Thanks! I think so too
Im new to saabs. Haveca 95 aero. Only 200k. Still needs some parts.but love it
Awesome. Good luck with the repairs
The fog light grills are awesome.....I tracked down a set for my c900 vert....I love the wheel, I had to settle for a 4 spoke red stitch leather wheel....the other great rare oem I tracked down for my c900 is the OEM Clarion CD player.... just a suggestion, the lines are way better if you remove the upper molding, the thin black one. I know we're in the same Saab groups on FB, you can see how it looks without on my vert.
Thanks! The lines on what exactly?
Head lining available in UK, comes on a a fibre glass board, The tricky bit is getting the sliding roof out the easy way and associated corrosion issue with front stays. Then once the slider is out attaching the fabric to that. Industrial glue recommended.
Thanks for the info. I’ve heard it can be tricky to remove without breaking
@@AutoAutopsy The original board material degrades, that will result in the new material not remaining bonded to it for that long. The board removal on a 3 door is easier due the tail lift. A Saab enthusiast fitted mine, nice chap named Andrew. . The board cost £ 450. The job was a little less. One reason for the original lining coming detached is damp, that can be because the sun roof drain pipes can block. That make a fibre glass replacement a safer bet. cheers, merry christmas.
@@greniepage5775 for these reasons; I really recommend JUST DOING THE SUNROOF; as that's easy, and the rest of the headliner looks very good as is!!!! think about it - better to leave it
@@pawpawbandit3871 mine had become damp and to be fair was rotting and a bit smelly. Taking the board out isn't difficult on a three door. The sun roof and work associated in replacing the fabric is the potentially difficult bit. sure only do the job if you really have too or you just want it to look brand new, and in truth it's the only thing on mine that does.
boomerang wheel and a rebuilt engine!!! this is one fine saab. Hey, I have some really good paint recommendations if you're considering non-original colors. I'm getting ready to strip and repaint this base hatch I have; with the plan to convert it to a Turbo/ manual (make it fast and fun); make it an SPG clone with anti-sway bars
Awesome! I am thinking I will stay with the original color when I repaint it 🤨
Very nice video! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🏻👍🏻😊
Thank you! You too!
Thank you too! 😊
Looks fantastic with the new steering wheel. Question about that, did you purchase a boss kit in order to fit the wheel? It looks like an attachment that was not with the car? I have a similar steering wheel that says "turbo" on it which also rare, however mine is a 93 which has the airbag that I don't want. I think I will need some sort of adapter to fit it correctly. Thanks for sharing and great work on the SPG kt as well. I hope you do a video on the hood paint restoration after you fix the oil leaks :)
Thanks! I didn’t buy any kit or adapters since mine is a non-airbag car. I know there’s ways to fit that wheel, but I don’t know exactly what’s involved. If you are on the Saab 900 Facebook group, I am sure there’s good info there on it
Unfortunately my paint is too far gone to be able to save in most areas :( restoration won’t do much
My Christmas is already getting better with a Saab video😄 Merry Christmas🇫🇮! (I had to pause the video for the license plates - has nobody sent you a Finnish (Saab) license plate?)
You too! Lol! I don’t have a Finnish plate 🤔 if you have one you’d like to send to show off your country, feel free to DM me on Instagram and we can figure it out!! @auto.autopsy
I wish I'd had a man cave at your age 😅with saabs. It's all I want... No wife no kids nothing. Just saabs and space..👌
😂🙌🏼👍🏼
love the updates on you 900! Where did you get the dash cover? TIA!
Thanks. I got it at a junkyard, actually lmao. I believe they sell some on eBay
Merry Xmas to you and thanks for another years worth of videos. I know it is a lot of effort, first to capture the assets and then do the editing. And oh ya, you actually need to work on the car. Happy Holidays
It can definitely be time consuming, yep 🤣 happy holidays to you as well! It’s worth the effort, especially when people enjoy it
That steering wheel is bad a**. I should be able to start my 500 mile break in driving soon. Had a full refresh done on my 900.
Awesome! Enjoy it 👍🏼👏🏼
Great job with the 900! I noticed from the opening image, you fixed the hood. It is able to open fully now. What did you do to fix it? I have the same issue, it will not open fully.
Thanks! I’m not sure what you mean. It has always opened the same. I stick a pick in the little opening on the hinge to hold it open further
@@AutoAutopsy ah ok, my mistake. I noticed in the last video the hood didn't open quite as wide. Sticking the pin in makes sense.
Merry Christmas auto
Merry Christmas, king
3D print the fogligt- protection, and sell it on the internet.👍😊😊
that would be cool! I don't have access to a printer unfortunately :(
Great videos, but why did you want an airbag for a pre-airbag car? I prefer mine sans airbag. It doesn't make you that much safer and ruins the esthetics of the interior.
I don’t want an airbag; I’m a bit confused by what you mean? The 9-3 airbag? If so, that is meant for my 9-3 as a spare! Sorry if that wasn’t clear in the video!
Swe licence plate 😁
😁👍🏼👀
👍👌
🙌🏼🙌🏼
What brand is the airbag? Autoliv?
whatever the oem brand is for 03-05 🤔
@@AutoAutopsy 😂 it'll say on the back. I'm curious because it seems we got mostly (or all) Swedish Autoliv airbags in Europe, and therefore unaffected by the Takata recall madness. So I'm curious what brand yours is if it is not affected.
