Tom describes this as a race to get to the top. That's only half the game. Getting to the top is easy. Getting your climber back down again safely is also important if you want the victory points. And that's much tougher.
Great to see some love for this game, the add-on pack Broad Peak adds two extra maps with new rules while Mount Everest completely re-implements the mechanics as you have to escort clients up the tallest mountain in the world - it is fiendishly hard even on the east side.
Tom could you possibly review the sequel to this game, Mount Everest? It's similar but I know you now have a group of tourists to take care of. Sounds interesting and has a bit more going on.
Tom couldn't see what difference it makes having three risk tokens available instead of just one. a) It means that no-one needs to take a 2 until later in the game when there's no choice. b) In solitaire mode it gives you the option of taking a 1 or 2 now and leaving the 0 until later.

just ordered this as it has become available again. As one of my other hobbies is hiking, this will do just fine.

This seems rather similar to Family Pastimes' game Mountaineering. Of course, Moutaineering is cooperative.

This game is dull as hell, and I am sad that I bought it. There just is not that much you can do.
