Awesome review, yes he is an AWESOME little figure a mini-masterpiece of Mp-44 imo, I have the original colors and it's amazing how much they get right with this figure the die-cast, paint, articulation and engineering is outta this 🌎...u missed a step in the legs those 2 little pieces that make the hitch for the trailer actually go inside the legs(it hinges in)so u don't see it, its a small detail but if u miss it it does look a little unsightly, im pretty much sure when u read this and then swing them into the leg u will see he's basically flawless...🙏🙏 thanx again 😁👍
Legend scale collectors are so lucky. I only dream we get something like this in MP scale someday. Also, I’m digging the edits you’ve been doing to your videos as of late. The bar at the bottom is a nice addition. I always appreciate that kinda stuff. Super stoked for next week’s video 👍
I shifted focus just recently, I used to only collect MPs. Legend scale figures were just some novelty, but recent releases are engineered much better than what I expected, and it's more fun. And some new trick for the editing I just learnt, love how it helps to navigate through the video.
I guess I am getting the youth version, the cartoon budget version, as a transformation double, since it just feels very stressed transforming this one with full paint.
I wanted to snag this one, but my main go-tos are sold out. I did snag the tromo redeco though. I love the color scheme on him and how the trailer has these neon orange splatter markings on the side. New Age is def one of my favorite 3rd party makers.
About G1 toy-homage NewAge Optimus Prime, he is ALMOST G1 toy Optimus Prime homage-accurate. His waist and his crotch are not all-silver and his robot head is not G1 toy model-accurate.
I think this figure is also pretty good, but given the choice, I would definitely go with Magic Square. Also, I'm glad the big pegs sticking out of the side of the calves also bug you. I feel like a crazy person being the only one who hates it. MPM 12 is even more offensive with the giant peg and slot sticking out. Such an eye sore, yet none of the 3rd party kits addresses that issue.
Agreed. I went for Magic Square as my first choice, but when I found this EX version, I just like that G1 toy head, and also, this figures is better than I expected. I mistranformed 2 pegs shown in the comparison photo, my mistake, the peg that does stick out from the left leg is not that big, but MPM12 does suffer a bit from this issue.
The faux chest is what's keeping me from buying him. I also went with Magic Square as the robot mode is freaking awesome and so toon accurate. Only wish it was painted.
I really like this redeco of David, but the only thing that’s stopping me from getting it, (besides the fact I don’t collect legends figures, it would cost too much for me to start a new collection), is the fake windows. I understand that it’s supposed to be proportionally accurate to the g1 cartoon, since it’s reusing the original David mold, but i always find transformation unsettling when it’s anything other than g1 or g1 styled. Newage’s Megatron however is amazing, and I’d get that if I collected legends.
Yeah, this faux chest design does hurt the figure. I collect legend only casually, and I also like NewAge Megatron quite a bit, got the EX version a couple of years ago, so as a pair of Transformer mascots, I got 27EX, it's a mixed feeling, good G1 toy color scheme indeed.
Legs are mistransformed. The trailer hitch pieces are supposed to be folded inward before compressing the leg panels together. End result should be completely flush.
"There really should be better design decisions." THIS!! ALL THIS!! There's absosmurfinlutely ZERO excuse for the whole faux chest, especially when Magic Square literally mimics MP44!! Once again, the big thing keeping the NewAge offering just a cut above the Magic Square is the plastic quality and the paint...because I can't fathom why Magic Square INSISTS on that derpy, ugly, faded lookin' plastic they love to use. That darker red & blue, though...hmmm...I ain't holdin' my breath (especially since Hasbro didn't capitalize on the darker colors of Takara's MP10), but could a G2 Optimus be in the mix??? Like, all that first iteration was...was a darker color G1 Optimus with a black trailer...🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
It doesn't seem that this design harmed their sales. People are buying this like crazy. Faux part is probably somehow accepted at legend scale I guess, but this chest design is still too much. MSToys has been using nylon since forever, and that probably enables them to design something different at legend scale, I am not sure how much do any of these materials affect their designs, but I just think it's easier to find a better kind of plastic than a better designer. So, good luck to both of them.
Whats wrong with the faux chest, why zero excuse for using it, if implemented right it makes the figure look asthetically better t8ke Mp-39 sunstreaker what they did with his chest is 🔥🔥🔥, I don't understand why some people get so burnt up over a faux chest "it's not real" well I hate to break it 2u none of these characters are real, so actually 1 would think it goes hand in hand just don't understand the hate for parts that transform into things u wouldn't necessarily put there 🤷♂️

I did miss it, and thanks for the tip!
It's a great representation of Optimus, and the amazing build and paint are just gorgeous.

You can fix the issue of the leg tabs sticking out, they fold in and hide themselves with transformation
I'm really impressed with the way Optimus' transforms! It looks really cool and well designed!
Agreed, and well built and painted on this one.
Engineering on another level!!
I like how Nemesis has a cape so he looks like a Sith Lord from some angles.
He looks so good. He could go for a little MP version. Be blessed
Like how they included an alternate face for hynkel to complete his microchange homage.
I prefer the cartoon versions as i never had many of the toys growing up but this mold is just gorgeous.
I guess I am getting the youth version, the cartoon budget version, as a transformation double, since it just feels very stressed transforming this one with full paint.
I hope the next video is very soon!! Been waiting to see comparison to make a choice which to get lol
Thanks man!! If things go as planned, the video will go live next Friday as usual.
@@OptimusLegends can't wait!! Please lots of posing with David. Especially kneeling
You've got it. Kneeling, copy.
I think you’d like the youth version of the stunticons from xtransbots
Thanks! Will look them up!
The only thing I don't like about it is the faux window
Really nice review. Clear, concise and factual. 👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

NewAge is good at painting their figures, so it would be a good choice to go for the ones with more flashy and cool color schemes, tromo looks badass.
ShowZstore, tfsafari, bombusbee and tfdirect all have him in-stock

The truck connector parts fold into the legs. You missed it in your review.
Thanks for pointing that out.
This review is awesome and I’m definitely picking this guy up! Where did you get the stickers for his shoulders, though?
Thanks, GooJo!
The sticker review is coming up this week, please stay tuned!
@@OptimusLegends Woo-hoo! I’m looking forward to that! Hopefully we can get a link to buy them!
I am definetly getting one of these.
Although one question, can i fit a Hot Wheels or a Micro Machines car in the trailer?

10:13 can we put a figure inside the cockpit?
What's the other Optimus figure at 2:59?

Where to get the figure
You know what would have been better? If they gave him classic 80's toy style fists.
Wait do the auto bot stickers on the shoulders and truck come pre-applied or did you apply them?
The figure didn't come with the fraction logos, I put them on.
@@OptimusLegends ok thanks for clarifying. Where did you get the stickers from?
How much does this go for?
Love it! Subscribed!
Thanks for subbing!!

Is it a rubikskube ?
It has a reduced back and a reduced price, much better than mp 44
this version transformation is similar to mp44
Мне понравился только Оптимус прай это герой и мирный автобот он зазешает землю от дексдеконы😊😊

Too complicated. Im ok with Sky Pillar
Hermoso.
you are out dated... this is 1.0, ... dude ... you gotta be updated .... 2.0 is out there, but both 1.0 and 2.0 with the fake chest....
