At the end of 2021, Transform Element had a clearance sale for TE-01, which made it the most budget option for a masterpiece scale Optimus, even 30% cheaper than MP44 KO.
It’s a very great cartoon accurate representation, and it still holds very well today.
So, let’s take a look at this most recent reissue in this video, and something you might need to tweak by yourself to make the figure work better.
This Optimus is not for everyone.
It emphasizes cartoon accuracy, which I could say it’s on the same level with MP 44, or even better in some aspects, like the cleanest back.
It also offers a very enjoyable transformation experience, the plastic is very smooth, and everything tabs almost seamlessly, I like that very much.
But if you enjoy posing your figures, TE 01 will let you down, the missing ab crunch, thigh rotation, ankle rockers give you very limited leeway for some natural or dynamic poses.
But for me personally, this figure makes me feel that attachment to the cartoon Optimus more than MP 44.
And for that reason, it totally worth it.

The cel shaded is so cool! I didn't really need this after having mp44 but got it when the cel shaded was on sale
Out of all of the masterpiece style optimus primes we have gotten this one is the the best of them all

Great review! I own MP-44, TE (This and the cell shaded) MS and the MP 44 KO.
TE takes the toon hands down and the MS has the heroic look very well done. You can't go wrong with any of these options. I can't justify the $400 price tag for the MP with the knee issues. The KO thankfully took care of that for $110 roughly..can't go wrong!!

We share the same opinions, I was late getting TE though, these different takes on Optimus are all great renditions of the character we love, it's a great time collecting transformers.

Crazy how 4 years ago this guy was the gold standard and definitive g1 Optimus figure, and then just 2 years after, Magic Square put it to shame with Light of Peace/Victory

So glad I caught this video. Had the same issues you did. I also have an issue where one of his front wheels keeps falling off - the pressure fit pin just won’t stay in.

The first time I saw this figure, the side of the chest windows really felt odd for me, since I was used to the windows on MP-01 and MP-10. It still bugs me a tiny bit, but it’s the best for its price. I’d rather have a solid figure with limited but essential articulation over a flimsy but dynamic figure.

I owned this figure for about a few months. I bought the cel shaded one and I’m absolutely in love with this figure. I honey wish it was more articulated but otherwise I love this figure

Just got mine new two days ago on eBay for about $90 in total. Best alternative over masterpiece and magic square cuz of the price. Absolutely loven it 👌🏻

Good stuff as usual dude. Tell me, what do you use for your foot pads? I can't seem to find a rubber strip that's thin enough and sticks well to my figs.

For the foot pads, I use door sealing stripes, they come in all colors and sizes, like this one: amzn.to/33Eq7a6.
For the thickness, I use 1/8 in for metal feet, and 1/16 in if the parts are involved in transformation.

I own magic squares and love it. But this transformation looks fun too
magic square has a heroic look, I like it very much.
He is a well-built TF. I give it that. I had him for about a year and then traded him in for MP44 KO version 2. If you put them side by side, I found TE01 very bulky standing next to MP44. His chest was wider, his arms were longer, he was very square in areas. I also did not like the colour red they used for the upper body and the off-white they used for his thighs. I didn't see any of this until I had them both standing next to each other MP44 is more toon accurate. But don't get me wrong! TE01 has cleaner looking finish and is built alot better. I guess it all comes down to preference. You can't go wrong with either one.

ultimate MP10 replacement- this is what takara should have done in their second attempt -i could only imagine if both T.E. and Magic Square came.up with their versions to match/rival MP-44 , great review

@@OptimusLegends Takara was only "forced" by fans to continue the MP line after the commemorative prime- its possible to make a toy closely resembling the cartoons...unfortunately they still dont know which route to take, new robotic form or cartoon look why so many revisions ha ha ..and we are still buying 😂
I just got this version of the figure. He was a replacement for a KO MP-44 that got lost in the mail. He's very solid and I'm enjoying it. Where did you get the sticker for his shoulder. I think I had the issue with the smoke stack so I'll look into that fix, thank you very much for this review.

I got the sticker from a company called Ocean Design, Hasbro authorized studio for transformer logo stickers, and it seems that they have disappeared.

Dang, can't wait to get this guy!😁I have a question though: does it come with the matrix of leadership? The site where I'm trying to get it says that it doesn't come with the matrix, but I saw it in every other reissue, and with the original release, as well. And because of this, i'm afraid that the 2022 reissue won't have it.

Edit ok saw in Amazon for a hair over $100 US. Great video. I like your honesty and constructive criticism without bashing the figure.
I personally don't mind the lack of articulation, honestly. Only real gripe is the parts forming hitch, which is a nitpick considering it doesn't come with a trailer but the hitch is for in case one wants to add a trailer. I think I might bite the bullet on this 😀😃
I couldn't close the roof for 1 hour and found that I had to turn the neck during head transplant....
Great review. The MP is too expensive. Wish it came without the trailer. The TE looks great but i think I'll continue to hold out until the next iteration comes with better articulation or the MP gets cheaper

TE's articulation is not the best, good sculpt though. I did not have MP either, toooo expensive.

i also prefer TE-01 over MP44 because of the cleaner G1 Design and more enjoyable transformation. The only thing i wish is that TE make a cartoon accurate trailer like MP 44 has.
there are 3rd party, or maybe 4th party I guess, mp 10 trailer, could buy one and create a custom version of the toon look.

@@vnspns5358 If i may suggest, you could grab a tamiya spray paint, and get it painted in 5 minutes, that's what I do when i don't want to clean my air brush.

ive been watching so many reviews for this figure but i have to ask, how come some of you guys have the chest window looking clean and transparent blue like the mp44, while some have it kinda translucent to the point that its as if its opaque. Is it the lighting?
In case you haven't found out yet, the first release run came with the translucent windows. The later releases have the opaque windows.

hi idk if you will see this but i bought the normal te01 op leader from show z store, and one the little spring pieces you push down to fold out the arms dont work for me, and second of all only one of the smoke stack fold to the side while the other one is stuck in place!

The Nemesis repaint was on sale on ShowZ for basically the same price as a Studio Series Leader figure these days but the original was out of stock. Of course, shipping and later import fees miiiight bump that up, but that's gonna be my first MP-style and third-party Transformer. I'm really looking forward to messing with it, though I hope I won't need to do those fixes.
On a personal note, I know a lot of people don't like the lack of paint on TE-01. But seeing it besides MP44 just makes me really not like the look of that glossy paint, and there's less to chip while transforming it.
TE-01 is definitely worth it, best G1 cartoon Prime at the MP scale. But very limited articulation though.

I'm not too fussed about limited articulation, honestly. So long as the joints themselves are fun to fiddle with and the transformation's a good time then I'm happy. I always prioritise transformation fun factor over articulation, as that's what encourages me to take something off the shelf.

This figure is like a piece of childhood in plastic form.
Absolutely, the best Optimus to carry our attachment to that animated leader we all wanted to be when we were kids.
He is very cartoon accurate, I have him as well as mp-44 and I always said if they would've used that shiny coat of paint or plastic like their Mirage with a thigh swivel 🤯🤯 this would've been The Optimus Prime for everyone, but unfortunately it leaves something to be desired which is why I bought mp-44 but u can't go wrong either way 🙏🙏 for 📹 👍

I assume the design decisions from TE are for cartoon accuracy, the sacrifices are to help streamlining the look of the figure, and MP 44 is to create an action figure level G1 representation, complexity could not be avoided.

Hi Ryan, it's the MP 10 trailer, TE 01 came with a connector that works with it.

Awesome figure but is a NIGHTMARE to transform! I don't think I've ever sworn so much! The joints are super tight and almost impossible to untab and fold. I don't think I ever transform mine ever again.
This new batch does have some issues, some tabs are too tight and makes the transformation a bit annoying, but I still think the transformation is better than MP 44, it's more logical, and also simpler.
Okay after spending a couple months with TE01 I’ve really started to dislike it. It’s nearly impossible to pose and transforming him is so unintuitive it really feels like you’re going to break it several different ways when you’re transforming the upper body. I really like to tinker with my figures and really all TE01 is good for is standing still on the shelf. He looks phenomenal when he’s standing still though.
Yes, TE01 wins the sculpt, but its articulation is never really good, but on MP scale, this is still the best representation of the cartoon Prime.
So basically, there is still room for improvement for a better Prime.
Can someone explain to me why they have that grey hing on the waist? It does not match at all and honestly, I can't get past the rest of it no matter what till that is fixed otherwise I would have gotten it already. How do they do a reissue and not correct that belly button area? At least give us a sticker to hide that awful eyesore spot. Also, I feel like they need to give us an adapter so this figure can also work with the newer official MP Trailer. The official trailer is so much better and I really wish TE would offer it in a package deal since that would motivate those whole are still using MP10 to swap out. (I got my mp10 on a late re-issue so it's not that old to me and without getting a new trailer as well I'm not going to switch) Those things aside I actually like the proportions and everything else about the TE more than the official new mp.
I guess they use the gray for the joints? White would definitely be visually better.

Hi Gavin, TE01 recently had another round of yard sale, which dropped another 40% of the price, it's a new batch from TE themselves, not bootleg.
And TE is not bootleg itself, it's an original design.
