I’m honestly thinking we might get Plus DLC later down the line and get Mighty and Ray back, since they’ve got great classic movesets from Mania. Since this game’s multiplayer though, it’d be absolutely wild and complete chaos if we got a Chaotix DLC or something

Nah, i don't think the classic Chaotix will be on this game. For some reason, every time something related to the classic era drops, may it be games, artwork, etc, there's no sign of the Chaotix. Also, if i remember correctly, a writer said that he once asked if they could be used on the comics, and was negated. A little bit strange, isn't it?

Honestly, im just hoping that metal has a bigger role in this game than the ones recently. He was cool in Mania, but he is kinda treated like a regular boss and not enough of a threat.

Yes, but that makes sense. That is Amy’s look. She had on that attire longer than she had on her classic attire. It’s not a big difference or change to the classic game. Bringing characters like Shadow or Silver would just throw it off.

Skins aren't canon so a shadow skin would be fine, not like the lego skins or modern amy skin have any impact on the story

By now sega and sonic team have just completlh removed the chaotix from the classic Era, besides knuckles chaotix and that one drawing off espio, the chaotix haven't been put in any other media focusing on classic character's.

@@openthissideuptooMighty is a special case as he was in SegaSonic along with Ray. And even though Fang and Espio were in Sonic the Fighters, Fang was also in Sonic Triple Trouble, which is another way to further separate the Chaotix from the universe sadly

I actually went to the Summer Game Fest and there was a Q&A with some of the developers. When one person asked if they will be getting Shadow in any capacity, they straight up said "no", wanting to focus on the more classic depictions of the franchise. This could be a lie but, I honestly doub it🤗

Knuckles chaotix characters like Espio and Vector. I'd like to see their gameplay quirks. Like espio could wall jump or something and vector could have cool water movements, for example

I think something like modern character skins would be pretty neat. They would play the exact same, but they would have the proportions and animations based on the modern series.
That actually is what the Amy costume is gonna be. It’s modern Amy, so it’s likely (if not outright guaranteed) that we’ll get modern skins
On the website it says that Amy will wear her modern dress
They said shadow won’t be in the game and apparently Shadow will be appearing in a separate game. Also they said they will be going in different directions with modern and classic games, modern sonic games will be more like frontiers and classic will be more like superstars
Imagine if knukless gets a secret skin that looks like the wechidna glitch from knukles chaotix or ashura the hedgehog glitch from the sonic creator mode

Pretty sure shadow will be in the game. I just looked at the logo and noticed each star represented a character. Blue for sonic, orange for tails, and pink for amy. I also noticed that each star has a white outline except for one star. That star is black outline and red coloring which are the colors of shadow.
That's for knuckles I'm pretty sure.
And shadow is more black than red, so knuckles would make more sense.
Classic Shadow doesn't make a lot of sense, because Classic Sonic is just Younger Sonic, but a Younger version of Shadow doesn't exist, he was created as a teenager.

If Shadow was added to this game then it would make a whole different timeline all together, since Sonic originally first met him in Sonic Adventure 2.

Guys, I don't think you realize this, but since it is a 3D sonic game - it has an insane potential for modding.
After all - it's easier to make a custom model, rather than to make a bunch of new 16 bit spites.

Both *Shadow and Rouge* were introduced in _Sonic Adventure,_ which was the first Game in *the Modern Timeline,* so if *SEGA* stated _Modern Era Characters_ won't be in, *Shadow, Rouge and Silver* won't be available...

The *Modern Amy Pre-Order Skin* proves that while _Modern Era Characters_ won't show up *as Extra Characters,* they _can_ be implemented as *Cosmetic Skins for any of the Existing Characters* - like _Shadow_ over Sonic. They won't have anything the _character they're textured over_ doesn't have, but could potentially have *re-textured variations of the existing character's abilities...*
I think giving Shadow some Classic qualities could keep it looking classic.

Shadow is as fast as Sonic, Blaze, Metal, etc. But he can't really perform his chaos abilities as much without a Chaos Emerald right?

Shadow will never be in Classic era. He is a modern character that was introduced in sonic adventure 2. I don't understand why so many people can only think of Shadow as a playable character for bonus content. Nobody talks about actual classic characters like Fang or Bean and Bark or Espio or metal Sonic. Why not Honey the cat? Or mighty and Ray. Vector or any of the freedom fighters. Maybe this is a good chance to bring Tiara into the series finally. Classic era has it's own characters that is now different from modern characters. I would love to see some returning characters from the classic games myself.
