- It's time to investigate more Thomas The Tank, Chuggington and other toy trains that have been collected from my local charity shop. It's a real mixed bag of Thomas toys from various eras. As we will find out there are many changes that have gone on to Thomas in only a few years. There is a clone knockoff TOMY Thomas train set that needs a slight fix to make it fast. Just for fun I put it up against the TOMY Streamlining Thomas. There are Thomas plush that are basically pillows. Learning Curve tote Thomas storage cases that are lovely. Thomas Go Glow Pal that I feel needs more lumens. Then a mixed line up of Hot Wheels, Take N Play, Take Along, Mega Bloks and Chuggington. As always looking over these toys is a nice trip back in time. Those Learning Curve Take N Play Thomas toys are really nice. Next is a beautiful larger TOMY Thomas that looks amazing and can play as both a push along or RC Thomas toy. TOMY certainly make some of the nicest Thomas toys. And to finish off we look over Thomas Wood Vs classic Thomas Wooden Railway. This is the change that seems to totally divide the Thomas community. Thomas Wood does have some good points but lurking under the Thomas Wood logo is possibly the change that so many people struggle with. Because I have many Thomas toys it's very clear to me a smaller, simpler and cheaper Thomas toy is whats constantly being produced for the toy market. Through these changes we have had some real innovative new ideas, but sadly the look and feel of the toys is being neglected. In the end all most people want is a Take N Play Thomas with smart magnets, or a Thomas Wooden Railway thats fully painted and represents the different sizes of the engines. Who knows the constant drive for change may save Thomas in what is a shrinking toy marketplace against free apps and online games.
I have connected to a new charity shop so the Thomas models are still rolling in. I did also pick up a large tub of Thomas Take Along & Take N Play tracks, accessories and engines for $80. Maybe it would be curious to set this up against $80 worth of Thomas Adventures.

As time rolls on isn't it wonderful how nice the Thomas Take Alongs are. Given time and lots of it we will all be saying how nice Thomas Wood is. Time repairs just about everything apart from the way Google treat producers on this site.

I think one of the reasons chuggington made many of the choices they did was to make themselves different from Thomas. The Thomas franchise has largely monopolized the idea of a living train so you’d need to make them pretty different to not be seen as a rip off in the public eye or have a court case in the near future.
Nice to see a complete Madge there. I kind of like the MEGA Bloks stuff - they actually had a good variety. Wonder if Ryan F. will be sad one day his trains were donated away?

That steam and sounds thomas brought back so much memories. I still remember that same tune when i would push it along (because i lost the remote) i fondly remember the tune and the steam the most and was my favourite thomas i ever had but i dont know what happened to it. We certainly will not be getting a toy that good in the future of thomas toys. Thank you so much for bringing back some of my childhood memories with just the tune I'm going to be trying to look for this thomas to display in my room to remember my good child hood days!
That Thomas with the Trevor is supposed to come with a red flatbed for Thomas to pull. What you would do is, you connect Thomas to the flatbed and then you pull back Trevor and let him drive up onto the flatbed. That's how I believe it was supposed to work, I had one but I have no idea where it went.

I remember owning these types of Thomas toys and I loved them, I would always carry around tomy Thomas with Annie and Clarabel. I still have some of the old powered wooden along with the blue track. It makes me happy when you get toys that I also had, it shows that things and time were once simpler.

Fruit salad, yummy yummy. As far as watering down the Thomas toys go I like to refer back to something I heard "if you take Abe Lincoln's axe replace the handle and then later replace the blade is it still Abe Lincoln's axe?" The answer is no and what I mean is. Well use your imagination. I also would like to add I used to have like 4 of those older hot wheels trains and I still have one I also have some of the newer ones under the rapid transit series. And funny enough the rapid transit Hotwheels trains and the Thomas adventures trains have the same exact couplers

Nice to hear you have a new charity shop Leo! My local dentist had a box of toys and one of them was that Thomas pulling a Trevor that looked identical to yours! There is a grey flatbed piece that Trevor would sit on like the episode from S2 'Thomas and Trever' that you are missing.

That bundle of take along looks amazing from what you showed it looks like the child must’ve grown up in the in the later take along and early take n play years and it seemed like good value for what you payed cause for my birthday I got a similar bundle on some deal for about the same price. The main reason I wanted it was because it had the old version of tidmouth sheds, the great quarry climb set, twist and tumble cargo drop, a few pieces of track and about 30 characters. When it arrived I got so much joy even as a 15 year old looking at the stuff and remembering how packed the stores used to be with variety it’s such a shame that good things don’t last forever.
So glad you are back! Gonna hopefully make my own spider tank soon! We don't have redbacks here but I'll find something cool! Maybe jumping sliders 😀

There are growing rumours the line is changing again, which I think might be a change in the vein of the dumb magnet but quicker, as all the new 2018 Wood stuff has gone totally MIA... Despite being released. Time will tell !

Your Thomas collection videos give me a sense of nostalgia as I grew up with the show and owned some of the thousands of twr models (my old twr mighty mac is my channel profile), owned a few take along models, and I even owned an ERTL Thomas at one point and I don't know where it went but it's somewhere. As I grew up I kinda fell out of Thomas and friends, until I found your channel about a year ago and you got me back into the show again

I sold all my take alongs 3 years ago, i had rusty and spencer the whole gang my father made me sell them, i managed to sneak thomas percy and james to my friend he still has them, I have a full tub of original trackmaster and tomy sets, i never was quite into wood, even though im "too old for them" im not selling them, i also had Geo tracks when i was younger if youve ever heard of them, i quite fondly miss being younger
So Many Nice toys to see in this video. That tub that you showed at the end to Me that thing is worth $65. But we've gotta See you purchase $80 worth of Thomas adventures and see what you get for your money. Overall some very nice things in this video, and I'm glad to hear that you've connected with a new charity shop now these videos can live on.

Long time viewer first time commenter. I’ve always enjoyed the way you look at and analyze what Mattel is doing. This shows just what is wrong with the Thomas franchise. Not the show itself but the toys they are producing. Thomas doesn’t need to travel the world he needs toys that will be compatible with what came before and toys that children will enjoy and parents will want to spend their money on. Hopefully Thomas Wood shows Mattel that and they can at least fix their track system.

shapeways has adaptors for adventures and old style take-n-play/take along vehicles and carriages so they can get along with one another.
Another small thing different from the Mega Blocks Thomas' is the newer one has printed eye glare or a small white dot on each eye
Considering that Thomas Wood is getting fully painted, does anyone think I should get a Thomas Wood model and change it into a Thomas from when he first arrived on Sodor? It's not like anyone wants the exposed painted Thomas Wood models anyway.
Hi Leo! I was at my local Steam Railway and upon my perusal of the Gift Shop (I was more attentive towards the Model Aeroplanes aha) and I looked at the Thomas Adventures and I noticed In one of the packs (Thomas had a truck with him) it was the old Take Along style of Full Cab, not the "Roll Over" one thought you might be interested!

Hey Leo, I have a suggestion for the Thomas that had a very dim light, find the switch and see if it is in fully on mode or try me mode, maybe Try Me mode has a dimmer light to let the batteries last longer in the store.

Am I the only one that felt that Chuggington failed when it came to like toys because of the coupling system and I remember having Chuggington which I actually still do and I just remember like my Brewster like the back coupling getting light stuck into the back because it fell out of my pocket and then never being able to get it out like I've seen a lot worse when it came to these models like I've seen like a Koko wear the the front coupling is completely broken off like I mean I just remember the Chuggington toys being really robust but also having a very big flaw but I still think Chuggington is okay but those interactive chuggers though some of them were built so horribly to work literally they couldn't even talk to the other engines

Great video Leo watching you play with that evil Thomas and that tomy one makes me want to go into my garage and get out my trains I’m 15 now from the United States and stoped collecting a couple years before track master 2 I had all the engines just about all the play sets I could Ever want I had tidmouth sheds me and my father got houses from the hobby shop and painted them up we had all the stations had a remote control crane that we painted to look like cranky before the actual Thomas one came out the engine wash I had every train I had through it ever I had a whole room dedicated to my train layout and I would have my layout all through the house and timed which one was faster I basically was spoiled and had the island of Sodor in a room I had to be begged to go to bed I have a picture somewhere I’m going to have to dig out if my layout I had in the room anyways might do that’s and make a video of my collection

Some kids love their Trains and don’t bang them around to have fun. Some kids like to see if they can destroy their toys and just play too ruff. I have three sons and they loved playing with Thomas but never threw him around just played making a station and making a story out of all the trains.
