I saw Kenny play live with John Fogerty a couple years ago. When he introduced him, he said, "This guy is the best rock and roll drummer in the whole world!" After following his stuff for the past couple years, I totally agree. And I love how much thought he's put into the design of this drum to make it fitting for his style. It sounds perfect for that snappy rock and roll snare sound. Beautiful, too. Love the engraving.

I saw Aronoff do a clinic back when I went to IU Bloomington in 1990. Loudest backbeat I've ever heard. He is a rock drummer--that is, he is a rock. Such an amazing musician.

Saw kenny at a drum clinic unfortunately it was electric drums, didnt know till I was there. He joked that Buddy Rich would be turning in his grave after playing some jazz (the electrics of course). Really want the 5 by 14, much respect for Kenny, what a beast !

personally I'd go with those 15 a new beats and the 15" snare like Kenny said tune it down with a thick coated head nicely

Great snare, great drummer. I prefer on mine the brass mighty hoops, warmer and have more dinamic. Great great snare!

Not sure I like the die-cast hoop idea. Though I suppose it might dry the drum out some.

Would have liked to hear how does the 4" sound.

+aruizislas I have one. It's a specialty sound, if you ask me. Sort of hard to tune to get good, use-able sounds. Kenny uses a lot of tape in the studio and live, if I am correct. I really hate tape but the 15" is hard to tune without using muffling.
Plus, your 15" head and snare wire options are VERY limited. The good thing is that you can find them pretty cheap used on eBay sometimes. I am not trying to be down on the drum, just wanting you to be informed before you spend money."
I also have the 5x14 and I will be buying the 6.5x14 before long. I love Kenny's drumming and his drums and I want all three to have the full collection. He is also a very nice person. I have caught him in clinic and masterclasses and he's always a joy to see.
