Roskoe, thank you for another very clear and positive reaction to Emma, and thank you also for being willing to open your own heart and emotions, clearly this song went very deep for you, as it has for so many people. I've watched this song so many times, for a number of reasons, and I agree with another comment that this is one of Emma's strongest performances, and each time, something new and different stands out, and tonight, the bit that was so clear to me was how deeply Emma is in to the emotion of the song, she's not just performing it, she is completely caught up in expressing the emotions and feelings that go with it, I was watching her eyes during one of the close up sections, and you can see where she herself is feeling the pain of the words she's singing, and we know that it's not a personal experience, she has an incredible family, who are all absolutely committed to helping her in any way possible. Her parents have done an amazing job with all of their children, and have helped all three of them to focus on achieving their goals, despite in Emma's case the massive challenges she faces every day, in only the last few weeks, Emma has found the strength and courage to be even more open about the regular operation she faces to replace what she calls her 'Mic key button', the interface unit that goes through a stoma opening to get the tubes that keep her alive into her stomach and intestines, it's a procedure she dreads, and causes her intense pain for about 30 minutes, but her bravery and determination means she refuses anaesthetic to ensure that the gas can't damage her vocal cords, and this time round, she not only posted about it, but was able to find the strength to post some photos that were taken during the procedure on social media, and it's an indication of just how much she is maturing, and becoming able to face her demons, and rise above them, she truly is an incredible young woman. In recent weeks, she's been in Holland, Belgium and Germany performing with Andre, and there's another new piece from her, another Eurovision song that was first released in 1982, and Andre is gently pushing her to new levels and she is responding wonderfully well to the challenge, this song, in German, which she's fluent in, she starts with a cheeky smile, and a finger raised in front of her mouth to indicate she wants quiet, which she gets, and then, as we're becoming accustomed to, she starts with no guide note or introduction, and sings the first verse a capella, strongly, then Andre builds in the orchestra, the chorus, and then adds the sopranos and tenors, and to top that Emma then sings a powerful counter harmony verse, before it winds down again, another powerful performance that demonstrated so clearly just how competent and capable a performer she truly is, there's no official video yet, so it's two audience captures, one of them is a short, so it auto repeats, then the second video finishes off the song, Ein Bisschen Frieden ruclips.net/user/shortsi-eX4AGKbIM ruclips.net/video/aC-QtYbGRoE/видео.html I can't link a translation, there are several available, if I do, the RUclips algorithms will get in the way, and probably delete the entire post. Another new song for Emma, sung in Bahrain, a Michael Jackson song, 'Heal the world', a brave choice given the tensions that are so evident in that part of the world at the moment, and once again, Emma gives a strong performance, and shows why Andre is willing to trust her, and has her involved with him and the orchestra, Audience recording of the Bahrain concert, has Emma's performances of Voila from 22:45 intro through to 28:43, then it goes straight into the Michael Jackson song 'Heal the world' through to 33:10, ruclips.net/video/OqdBgnnm1L8/видео.html Andre is being very careful not to expect too much from Emma, her stamina is not great, due to her still small frame, she's only 1mtr 42 in height, and only 53 Kg weight, which is still tiny, so she doesn't have the same sorts of reserves that a normal 15 year old would have, she's mentioned in one interview that more than two flights of stairs are a problem when carrying the pumps, they're a bit like a boat anchor in terms of their effect on her, and she's also said that walking long distances is not possible, and she's been known to use an assist chair at times, but in typical Emma fashion, she does not let these issues hold her back, every performance I've seen her give, it's very much given all of her, and that's part of her incredible strength, she puts herself on the line, exposes her vulnerability, not for sympathy, but to make it clear that this disease is not going to get the better of her, she is going to rise above it, and continue to do what she loves so much, her therapy that gives her strength, singing like she does, and all we can do is hope that her health remains stable, and that she can indeed continue to perform in the way she is. Two other songs I've not mentioned previously, both recorded 12 months ago at a Rendez-Vous concert, and both accompanied by a member of the JSO, Frank Steijns, who is a violin and carillon player with Andre, a song in Dutch, Door de wind, ruclips.net/video/Vpin7CjdU2I/видео.html translations are on the web, and a different version of her first single, Laat mij een vlinder zijn, let me be a butterfly, ruclips.net/video/qEz4We6hsnw/видео.html A closing and heartfelt plea to everyone reading these comments. Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl If at all possible, please join me in making a (regular) donation to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease, and hopefully find a cure. They are a small group, and one of their main people is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in dealing with gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day. It would be wonderful news to hear that they have been able to change the outlook for Emma and others, it would be tragic if Emma were unable to continue to sing like she does, while she looks stunning on stage, her stamina is not good, so it is a very delicate balance to maintain her health, it would be so good to hear that the situation has been changed by the work the foundation are doing, Emma would then be free to spend more time doing what she loves so dearly.
