Very enjoyable conversation - and Alex, excellent questions and I am so happy to hear an interview where the interviewer has read and thought about the book being discussed!

Thank you for sharing what has felt so natural to me for so long, yet the ability to speak it was lacking as I am not religious. We live in this miracle at a time when more and more wise people speaking the language of science are able to share their findings with us laymen. So, science has found a way to help us grow out of our old paradigm into the necessary new. Cheers from a retired soldier down under.

Isnt non-existent reality a kind of tautology?

I wish you would back up a little and broaden your perspective enough to include the current ecological perspective of the currently evolving sixth great extinction event and the evolutionary concept of speciation. When a species finds a new niche its population explodes as it exploits its new found opportunity until it exceeds the carrying capacity of its environment. This species then experiences a decrease in population until it returns to a new equilibrium where it can maintain a new balance within the carrying capacity of the new niche. However the evolutionary pressure on the population will create a new species distinct from the previous one. Humanity evolved until it reached peak population exploiting the environment during the decades culminating in the industrial revolution which has resulted in our current peak state and the beginnings of our current environmental collapse. Is this the beginning of a population decline that could result in a new species of man? One better evolved to maintain a better more sustainable relationship with our environment? can we return to a balanced and sustainable relationship to the natural ecosystem that's sustained us for 20,000 years and still continue to evolve technologically? Peter Zeihan is right, "The end of the world is just the beginning!" hold on tight we're in for a wild ride from this peak to a new equilibrium.

AI is not a person, therefore, there cannot be relationship, intimacy, love, and consciousness, the latter, in my estimation, being a product of thought and the psyche that interfaces with the brain. The essence of thinking is thought, as yet an unknown process, but it is highly unlikely that the brain does not produce thought. So in chatGPT, for example, is AI actually thinking, or simply imitating and mimicking human thinking? This also means that there cannot be relationship between AI's, again, only shared information. Archetypal, Alien, and Artificial Intelligences are probably what needs to be thought about.

Would have benefited from slightly more critical questioning . Alex ' constant nodding is really irritating..!

The dude said he was nervous. Perhaps ask “who” is the one who is irritated ?

Both the host and interviewer clearly state that this is the first in the series/work in progress. Give your input on what more critical questioning would be. Criticism is to be offered when it is constructive. Also, awareness of cultural differences is something to consider prior to coming forth with a criticism of an individual’s body language.
