I've had my 4inch 44 Tracker SS for 19 yrs(bought it new when they first came out , mine is number 16 that was made) , absolutely love it !
I just got my first real revolver. Non rimfire should I say. I love shooting the damn thing. All steel snub nose. Long live Wheel Guns!
yea never had a problem with any of my taurus products
Can’t wait Chuke. Keen to know if the Taurus takes the +p+ ammo. From a non Alaskan (being me) you don’t hear too much bad about 44 mag revolvers!
The tr wacker does not the cylinder is too short... I tried lol
305 grain is probably the max it can take. It being the Cylinder, and those are gonna give your palm a nice hard whallop.
At the head of the list for my next purchase.
I've been liking alot of Taurus' stuff lately. I got a couple revolvers I love and got a gx4 9mm that's been awesome. I've shot 2000 rounds through it with no problems. Got a snub 357/.38, got a judge got a raging hunter and a th 40 love them all
A badass gun I don’t understand why some people shit on Taurus, I no years ago I could understand but nowadays Taurus is a top notch gun
Good presentation!
I've had a Tracker .44 since 2016. I have never had any issues and the weapon is very accurate..........but, the ribblet grips allowed my middle finger on my shooting hand to get beat to a pulp by the trigger guard.Yesterday I changed the grips to a Hogue monogrip. Today I fired 50 rounds on my pistol range with zero issues. Damn, I wish I had done that years ago!
ATI also makes a rubber grip for Tracker frames called the X2 (Large).
Definitely a keeper. I Definitely would carry it .
I would loaded it with 44 Magnums and pocket carry it like I did with my 357
Beautiful magnum and has its niche, thanks for sharing Chuke!
I've got a Rossi that's a carbon copy of that taurus.
I've been a fan of the .41 Magnum for years, but I've never found a 2 inch .41 Mag. This might be a neat gun to have...although, we don't have many bears down here in the Ozarks..
they have a 41 verison of this gun
Taurus model 66 357 Magnum was the problem back in the eighties they had timing issues I have The Rossi 2in version of the tracker blued and it shoots just fine
I know they've have been some QC problems, but I've had good luck with Taurus. Have had a few and mine have been good. I bought a 44 4'' Tracker for my wife and its been a great lightweight revolver. The action slicked up as it was used and while it cant compare to my S&W 629-1 it does have a good trigger and is accurate, However, I agree that lighter loads are the ticket in a revolver this light. Hers is loaded with heavy 44 Special Underwood 250 gr SWC at 1000 fps. This is plenty for black bear defense here.
I have the 4" standard stainless Tracker 44. I think you missed the lack of compensation ports on the shorter version you have. I personally like having the adjustable sights and the ports really help in taming recoil with full house loads. Ah, you just mentioned the ports... and thanks for the review.
Agree with the quality control issues. Had one friend who owned a pair or judges. One was a sweet shooter, the other was a hot mess. Another friend with one of their 1911’s had a terrible finish that started wearing off in months. If its a try before you buy situation they can be a great value.
I carry one occasionally in the UP of Michigan while hiking for black Bear protection. Load I carry is the Buffalo Bore Outdoorsman 255 gr 44 spc. The load is rated for big game up to 500 lbs. don’t get many Black Bears that large in Michigan.
Is the recoil alot less with the 44 special Buffalo bore rounds you mentioned compared to magnum loads? I love shooting my Taurus with magnum loads but don't want to wear it out
Yes. Recoil is less, and the pressures are less, so less stress on your revolver
I have this gun. I’ve shot all sorts of 44 special and 44 magnum up to 300 grain hard cast. The 44 magnum is painful to shoot. I will keep it loaded with 240 JHP 44 special for EDC and 255 grain 44 special Keith SWC for woods carry. 4 recent Taurus revolvers all perfect.
I agree 100 percent bob that hammer
why can't you use a 44 for self defense???
It reminds me of my Smith model 69. I like the 4 inch. I bet that 2 inch is really barky.
How dose it compare to the Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan you had? Quality? Size/Weight? Accuracy? Etc..
You mean take the spur off the hammer if you take the hammer off you will never hit the firing pin
Is there an off the shelf holster that will fit this model?
thanks
It should be a good one! Interesting revolver, pretty small for a 44!
@@ChukesOutdoorAdventures same size as the smith m69 l frame 5 shot 44 mag on an l frame
Nice video but not a fan of Taurus, ruger, s&w in 44 mag only.
I'm chuck, who cares it's a Taurus lol 😜 jk
Bear protection
Better then 10mm or 357mag
Barrel leinghts thr same
If you land your shot in right place
You win the fight . You will be lucky all the same.
Not a 5" 480 ruger
But a chance to.come home
5 rounds? That's a range weapon. Nothin more. Maybe a backup when you're out or home. But not a primary edc by any means
It's a Taurus, it'll far apart
How is the recoil
Snappy for sure but not too bad
A beginner gun, that’s just stupid 44 is not really for a beginner, that’s just stupid
