Why do you think that active and functional movement is future of yoga?.... thank you!!!!
because I'm completely biased as a physical therapist hahahha ...
Reminds me of a psoas stretch
i can never get into the lizard
did you try this technique?
@@Ariele.Foster yeah great with a chair it helped heaps everyone always say oh just get in the lizard... cant get my back leg back that far
@@Ariele.Foster the lazy lizard is super hard for me is there any progression to a lizard
@@SuperHone12 Personally and professionally I got to the point where I started to look at many yoga poses as rather extreme positions. My suggestion would be to put your back knee on the floor like a 90/90 kneel and hands on a block. And let go of some of these poses if they don't work for your body. We don't all have to move the same. We are all built differently.
@@Ariele.Foster Thank you, Dr. Ariele Foster, for acknowledging this! So many physios and coaches overlook the fact that not everyone can easily get into certain positions. I’ve done CrossFit and calisthenic's, and while I’ve adapted many movements, I’ve struggled with things like overhead squats. That led me to focus more on mobility, but I’ve found it frustrating how often people assume we can just do movements to improve mobility-when the goal is to build mobility so we can perform those movements.
I’ve had success with acupuncture, deep tissue massage, and release work using a hard ball, which has helped my hip mobility. I’ve also wasted money on apps and physios who dismissed me as a lost cause, but your Core + Hips + Spine Flow - Physical Therapy Inspired Yoga video has been a lifesaver! I’ve added it to my routine, and movements like side plank lifts feel so relieving now.
Thanks to your guidance (and some help from Zac Cupples), I’m finally getting stronger in my squats.
