  • Peach Springs is a census-designated place on Route 66 in Arizona along the original 1926-1979 alignment. It was a booming travel town on the Mother Road until 1978 when Interstate 40 bypassed it and temporarily took Route 66 with it. Here I visit two places, one of them being the John Osterman Shell Station which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. As of early 2022, it sat in ruins. I also check out two historical markers here.

If someone took the time and money to restore that Gas Station they would get many visitors. There are many restored stations along the route that are magnets for tourists. The added character of the "Alamo" would make this place so unique.

I almost didn't do a video for here since I heard about strict photography rules on tribal lands but no one seemed to care. But I agree about the station. Kind of makes one wonder what happened to the grant money

@@fuecoco424 Thanks for the update. I volunteer at the Historic Richfield Station in Rancho Cucamonga California Route 66. I will be sure to tell our Eastbound visitors to stop by there and take a look

@@fuecoco424 I have been told that when I was around 3 years old that my dad was the manager at that Shell station. My family was one of the original families in Hackberry where my uncles owned the Union Oil station and my aunt and uncle owned the Hackberry General Store.
