- Norfolk Southern Trains & DPUs, Heritage Unit, CSX Train With DPUs Shows Up When Least Expected, Rock Train Chase, Railroad Bridges & Close Look At Rail. These Trains Are In Southern Ohio. Piketon, Greggs Hill And Macon Are Included.
The video starts with the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad running a rock train to the quarry. We see it at a few railroad crossings and then go to the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The Cincinnati Eastern Railroad operates on the Peavine Line which used to connect into the Norfolk Southern Line near where I filmed the NS trains in this video. The switch was removed a couple years ago.
The first NS train is a heavy one. This is a loaded grain train with 2 mid train DPUs working hard! The train is booking through Lucasville, Ohio on the NS Heartland Corridor.
Then I drove near Piketon and got a couple of fast trains at the River Road railroad crossing. CSX has a line that runs next to the NS line here for a short distance. Check out the size of the CSX bridge!
We then see a bridge under Rt23 with mud bird nests everywhere. I have never seen that many bird nests in one area. This bridge is right next to an old N&W bridge. I got a couple of trains booking over that bridge in both directions.
The last spot is back to the Piketon area where NS and CSX come next to each other. I was filming an NS train going over a bridge that crosses over the highway when all of a sudden I noticed a CSX train with 2 DPUs going over the highway behind me. It was so noisy here that I didn't even hear the leading locomotives on the CSX train. This area is called Greggs Hill.
Don't miss the slide show that comes from the video near the end.
Filmed Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in 4K with 60fps for CCET and in 1080p with 60fps for the rest. Thanks for watching!

Great vid ! Those are cliff or barn swallow nests under the bridge, the chicks have fledged and have left he nest. They are on their way south for the winter now. Hi from Montreal Canada, home of CN rail.
Always love seeing the trestles and bridges! ✔✔
Looking forward to watching thanks JT for another awesome video 📹 have a great weekend Sir from Scotland 😊
Have you taken the train from Edinburgh to Newcastle ? I think I'd enjoy that.
@@jameschristiansson3137 Yes I have indeed many a times 😊
There is something so satisfying about seeing a train on a curve, where it be a grand curve or an s-curve!
My mother told the story of traveling by train to see a sister in Pennsylvania. She clearly remembered travelling through horseshoe curve. Decades later, we traveled there and got the sight of a training heading out of the curve.
Yes, those nests are of barn swallows. They are made of mud. The barn swallows eat a crazy amount of insects.
Pretty cool live action JT, with plenty of surprises, including the NS Wabash HU.👍🏼😎
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, I like them, they're awesome, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much and have a nice day and night.
Thanks Ivan! Have a nice day and night also
@@JawTooth You're very welcome and same to you too, Brian.

Pretty cool..after you switched locations, those trains were going pretty fast..birds nests were pretty cool...thanks JT
Thanks for watching my video!
Thank you Sir !!
A wave -a horn salute -does it get anybetter Jawtooth ? That NS grain train sure was booking too. As always a top flight video brought to you courtesy of the Tooths !
Regards
I enjoyed watching this video, Jaw Tooth! You had a wonderful variety of trains from the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad's eastbound train with empty gondolas for Peebles, Ohio, and empty rock cars for the quarry in Plum Run, Ohio to the Norfolk Southern and CSX trains that you caught in various locations. That ws surprise catch of that CSX coal train at the end of the video. (Posted 12 October 2024 at 150.3 CDT.)
Good Morning fello railfans..
Brian, I think those nests are Cliff Swallows.
Also.. nosing around on google maps i looked at the fairground.. perhaps the bleachers by the race track would make a good spot above the tracks. You would be looking NW so sun shouldn't bother and it's up quite hi when viewed from rt 23.
Nice fall day for both of us today.
Good morning.
@@jameschristiansson3137 We're jus beyond peak here.. Leaves are falling everywhere. It was pretty while it lasted.
@jonwatt678, good afternoon. We’re nearing our peak in Va

Wow great video JT. Love that CCET live action. Also like those different railfanning spots great mixed bag.
Great catch on the heritage unit! Awesome trestle! Cool barn swallow nest! Beautiful catches on the bridge!👍
great job catching all those trains! 🚆 catching up on your work ! thank you for the great job!
Nice shots on CCET Brian! Much enjoyed. Also the birds nests! That's a lot of birds in one place, so there must be plenty of food and water to make all those nests and hatch out their young.
I liked that you were caught out by the coal train behind you. It's hard to tell just where the sounds come from sometimes. Made a great video though!
All the miles you go to get the shots is very much appreciated by all the fans, not least those of us across the pond who really enjoy seeing some of the USA sights as well as just the trains. Thanks for your hard work getting to places for our enjoyment.
Awesome videography JT recording big, powerful, and fast rail action beautifully framed by the natural surroundings and your choice of location, Excellent! Starting with the CCET single power, 24-car consist running through the beautiful fall Ohio countryside was fantastic, was all the NS and CSX action. I’ll probably watch this again just for the rail action/scenes. As always-great commentary. Thank you. Have a blessed day.
My birthday is coming up on October 18 and thank u for getting all the film for us to enjoy
The tie replacement makes me think the CCET is looking toward a long term future. That's good! I want to continue to follow this great shortline on your channel, Jaw Tooth.
Awesome video again jaw tooth, always makes my day.
Action packed video with a big surprise.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for your videos while I was sick past year-watched every morning.
Back at work now… Kicking ass again.
Thanks for watching my video! glad to hear that you are better
You should visit that bridge when the barn swallows are nesting. they will be so thick flying around you wouldn't think you could drive through.
Please send a Happy Birthday to Bob Zimmer, 85 years old on November 15 this year. Thank you. He watches about every day!
I will give him a shout out in a video. Not sure which one yet I have a few in production

Good morning jt can't thank you enough for all the great videos.have a great day
Outstanding
The real reason fir the fast moving trains is the crew left their coffee pot on!!! Yes, I do enjoy seeing your pets and looking forward to soccer season and harvesting your crop land. Also, seeing all the swallow WAS a VERY NICE touch. It's another GREAT train video. THANKS, BRIAN !
Thanks for watching!
Great video JT!!!!
Good morning I enjoyed the video👍👍
Good morning!
My comment went missing. It's been good weather for catching trains.I was expecting some trains rolling through Pendleton County this am. You did some great work on this video.
I might start working on my camping video today. Jackie filmed some also and I'm trying to figure out how to make the video. Have a great weekend Steve!
@@JawTooth No worries.Glad that you both were able catch some action. You have a great one also.
Awesome video with 2 dpu working hard but wait there’s more to come 👍🇺🇸🚂😎👍
Cliff swallows mean less bugs. We had quite a few up here in Rhinelander this summer but they headed south weeks ago. Excellent video as usual, thanks JT!
Good to know! Thanks for watching!
Wow those birds nest are fascinating good show Jaw Tooth
Hello Scott,it’s great to get up Sunday morning and watch a Great Train Video,Standard Cabs and Classic EMDS With exception of one Gevo ,I have to get over to QD cabin 👍🏻👍🏻🚂
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
So glad the barn swallows have found a place to nest. There aren't as many barns as there used to be.
Awesome video. Love those meets
I love each and every video! I love those heritage units! Come on BNSF, you are the one major railroad without any heritage units.
Thank you very much!
Thankyou. For. Trains.
Thanks for watching!
Cool video. Those nests make a nice little town. I have never seen so many nests. Maybe the Cliff Swallows come back at night. Awesome to see. Love the trains. Have a nice day 😊🌈💖
Thanks for watching!
JT:
Back in the mid 50's, railfans photographed N&W, and C&O steam going over those bridges, including C&O 2-10-4's, and H8's!
As about a 5 year old boy, I believe I saw an Allegheny pulling a empty coal train going south from the back seat of my Dad's Ford, on the way to Columbus, in 1955!
Wow, that is awesome! Those were the days
The train driver waved at you... that's encouraging.
Thanks for watching!
Fall is harvest time. Love your content J.T.
Yes! Thank you!
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
Love the old trestles. Thx JT
Glad you like them!
You. Make. The. Best. Train.s. Of. All
Thanks for watching!
Cool.
Thanks for watching!
I loved the bridge trains cause I love bridges as much as I do trains. I look forward to the endings of your videos too. Love your pets, kids and all the "live action."
Thank you very much!
That Wabash unit was nice!! The nearest bird society would probably be interested in those swallow nests for study and conservation purposes. Thats an entire colony, and usually when an average person walks by those type of nests, and if they're within reasonable height, those people will tear them down. This is a wildlife success situation for the time being. Maybe pass the word to the nearest Audubon chapter.
This is an awesome early Saturday morning with my coffee
watching trains in Southern Ohio at the crossings and going
down the tracks, train bridges with bird some nests under them,
also some DPU'S pushing the trains, the super live action pets
dogs and cats as well as the amazing music slide show and it
don't get much more better than this thanks Jaw Tooth.🚂🚃🚃🇺🇲
😅have a nice weekend,greetz:🍐Peer.😅👍👍👍👍
I saw those a couple of weeks on my way to a pike county HAMFEST
Another awesome freight trains 🚆 video 📹 JT, on the first train it approached the crossing there's the level crossing signal & flashing lights, but no barriers, is there a reason for that? Will you be able to catch a little footage of the maintenance crew installing the new ties???? Are there speed restrictions on some lines around where you film bud? Very cool 😎 👌 👍 with all the birds 🐦 🐦⬛ 🦜, very cool 😎 picturesque scenes there bud, with the bridge 🌉 great viewing 👍 from UK 40:00 UK👍
Like seeing the regional lines. Good video. Side Note: I was on an overpass waiting for UP Big Boy # 4014 to leave Spring, Texas, when I saw a tiny switcher engine pulling gravel cars to empty them at the concrete plant on other side of bridge. Engine could be driven onto the tracks at a crossing.
You. Have. The. Best. Video. Of. All. Love. The. Cat. Dogs
You filmed that on my Birthday!
Really? Happy birthday! I didn't know you had one coming up
25:40 If my Dad was around, he would know what birds made those nests. He was a bird watcher.
Nice video son! My turn to have no power tooth,we were right in the path of Milton here in Florida. Just got power back Saturday. Seemed like weeks!
Oh no! I am glad you got it back on. It really is hard to be without power
I concur with Cliff swallow nests! They build under bridges and in large culverts here in Wisconsin.
Thanks for watching my video!
I liked the surprise CSX train.
I also saw one of the longest trains I ever saw coming from Portsmouth . It was headed south and I was headed north. I drove 1 mile north before I saw the end.
Thanks for watching!
Hey jaw tooth awesome trains. Lots of great locations. I've never seen so many birdnests in one spot wow!!!!!!. Bummer one train snuck up on you while filming other. Has trains snuck on you other times?. How's your mouth feeling? Have a great railroad day.🚂🙋♀️
Thank you very much! that is the first time one snuck up on me without me knowing it. I think my mouth is getting better but it still hurts when I start talking or eating. Thanks for watching Lesa!
@@JawTooth welcome. sorry your mouth still hurts. Hopefully pain will go away soon
An excellent video, I definitely enjoyed it
Sweet catch on the Wabash unit. Too bad it was stuck in the middle, you didn't see it till it went by
Thanks for watching!
I like the 4K I like the shooter Trains they look very long trains especially in your model gets a little boring switching is awesome
Thanks for watching!
I hope to catch you in Carlisle one of these days!!
Awesome
Awesome horn
thanks, great stuff
22:02 mark, rail shot. the inner rail, is that shavings from the wheel flange hanging off?
probably all that scraping sound like 2 swords clashing.
around here in Michigan, those swallows have been gone for a couple of weeks at least, heading south.
More power.
Amazing!
Thanks for watching my video!
@@JawTooth You're welcome Brian!
