I like Revstars (a lot.) I don't own one. I do however own and play 2 Yamaha SE's from the 80's ... they are my main guitars, solid as a rock like everything Yamaha makes. I'll buy a Revstar ... as soon as they offer a gold top EXACTALLY like the one they made for Chris Buck. Hands down he owns the best looking Revstar I have ever seen (and it's the only one I want.) It puts a lot of gold top Les Paul's to shame. I enjoyed the video.
I traded three guitars and two amps for the RSP20 Professional model in Swift Blue. I'm a novice but I wanted a guitar that there was no way I could blame the guitar, the RSP20 is an amazing tone machine. Side note, I started motorcycling 50 years ago on two Yamaha motorcycles and then a snowmobile. I think I need to add a Tenere (T-7) to the stable!
@@carloslonmoer6285 I ran into mine at my local shop. I think they've carried yamaha instruments for a long time so they got a small allotment. The online retailers still have preorders going.
Ross is getting some beautiful overdriven tones on the professional model with p90s. Could you tell us what his signal chain was? He mentioned the )presumably Victory) duchess but seems to be selecting patches on a helix with his left hand and kicking on a dirt pedal too. I get it that the tone’s rolled off but there’s a lovely honk to the sound and would love to get it. Thanks for your increasingly engrossing channel, John and your own super-accomplished yet unegotistical playing.
John - When Will the “Crisp Gold” be a available to the masses? Seen it in several promo videos on the Yamaha site, but not listed for pre-order anywhere on the interweb. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Is the playability of Revstars about the same as other guitars in its price range? Do you think it has any exceptional features? I know they are supposed to be quite good. Thanks
So, the japanese range I'd put above some of the Gibsons that I've played in that price range. In terms of features, stainless frets, carbon fibre reinforced neck and body might be actually practical for touring musicians - not sure if it makes a huge difference for normal people like me though? Umm yeh and the P90s with the tailpiece sound pretty awesome in my opinion. Also the satin neck is exactly what I'd want from a guitar like this, meaning I don't have to devalue it by sanding it down. Definitely guitars that I'd be happy to play regularly if I could get my hands on one
I have over 20 guitars and a few USA made Fenders amongst them. My 720b revstar in black and vintage white with a bigsby is the best quality made of them all. And the most playable. So I guess it’s technically the best. It’s hard to go past the history of a strat or Tele for example but the Revstar is an excellent guitar.
@@johnnathancordy They seem to have a unique sound that I like a lot, and which sounds very versatile to my ears. I'm constantly decreasing the value of my guitars to others, but increasing their value to me with all the mods I do. 😎😈
Was there any real difference between the standard and professional besides the case upgrade? Is the Japan quality control worth $1000+ ? Great review, thank you!
@@keeponplaying2625 They both have carbon in the neck, however the Standard doesn't have the two carbon strips in the body. The Standard is still a really great guitar.
I've been waiting for years for the left-handed models! Whoever decided this, thank you thank you thank you! 😁

It's available now from their professional series, had to get one myself.
I’ve been waiting for the day the Revstar would be made in lefty. And to have it in blue 😍
TODAY IS THE DAY JUSTIN
I think they make it already. I saw at YAMAHA website!!
Same I'm left handed too always drooled over revstars and was bummed no lefty but finally they did
I’ve always liked the look of these, ever since I’ve seen Matteo mancuso play them, I’ve never seen anyone else with them. Very nice looking
Yeah there great and Chris buck has a sig revstar with the p90’s and if u don’t know his playing then your welcome cause he is great too
Yay - finally left handed models! Thank you Yamaha.
Lefty, that is interesting indeed… goldtop with P90’s and i’m in..

Holding out for a Paul Hindmarsh version of the Pacifica...
I love that half cocked sound and it sounds great through the Catalyst.
I LOVE the rev star, this is a super exciting release Becuase they’ve been hard to come by.
Lefty revstar =)
Those guitars are so professional and sounds good. Those awesome people at Yamaha, tell them to please send me one, I can not afford one now.
I'll see if they can send me one too!
@@johnnathancordy nice, I enjoy your vids and tutorials. Greetings from Tanzania East Africa

4:30 the neck joint is set in (glued) I believe. Not "through neck" design
Some competition for Chris Buck. Cordy's got a wild giggle. Never heard him laugh before.
It's a problem isn't it!
The p90 adds the right stuff to your sound.
Hey John, I was wondering how the left-hand model sounds when you play some of those Holdsworth legato runs.
Or perhaps some Bach?
Cheers!
I'll get right on that
Nice improvement on an already great line of Revstars. Too bad the crisp gold is only available in the pro model... Big bucks!
According to sweet water specs, the standards have stainless frets too?
And according to Thomann? If so, that's a very well priced guitar?!
You got a deal with Yamaha ! 🤪😎❤️
Lol I wish

I’m so excited!!!

Inside the chambering of the professional there are two carbon fibre strips. The Standard doesn't have them.

But still no Variax Revstar. Shame….
That would be awesome!
Are they still making the old ones?
Waited to see the new models, but the p90 equipt models have that awful tailpiece setup. Why no hardtail p90 goldtop?
Does anyone one know if the neck profile of the new revstars are the same or very similar to the pacifica's?
It's coming across a bit boxy sounding but that's probably room reflection from how your recording
I’ll take one in blue and one in green. They’ll sound different right?
Green is more environmentally friendly. Pretty sure it’s loosely modelled after Greta Thunberg’s revstar
So you can play Blue In Green by Miles Davis?
Do you have a relationship with Yamaha or a shop/distributor?
I drove up to "Ross from Yamaha"'s house to film this demo and also the Catalyst video - no financial relationship

Finally, lefties
I really want one of these but the color choices are abysmal :(
