I wrote these riffs on the couch at my Mom’s house over Thanksgiving break in 1998. My first guitar was at her house-a cheap Hondo acoustic with really high action-and when I started messing around, the riffs just jumped out of my fingers… I always love writing heavy stuff on acoustic because if it sounds heavy unplugged just wait til you turn the gain up.

I'd do unspeakable things to see you and the guys perform this live.
Now you’ve got your chance. Time to throw down the unspeakables.
Still some of the most creative guitarwork I've ever seen. And it's so fricken catchy.
“Ram the manparts” 😂
I need to know what that is
A play on words for their song “Man the Ramparts” in case you were legit asking.
So glad im not the only one making the "Ram the Manparts" joke
I'm sitting here trying to think of the proper words to tell you how important your music (in both Botch and MTB) is to me. I didn't know much about Botch back in 2001, as I was stuck listening to nothing but the metalcore trend at the time. I was leaving Krazy Fest in Louisville to grab some lunch, and I heard this band playing in the distance that blew my mind. Unfortunately the company I was with didn't care, and I missed my one shot to see Botch live. I really regret it...but I did discover a new favorite band. A year or two later as the metalcore in me died out, I ended up in a band highly influenced by the technicality and odd time signatures delivered by Botch, Harknonen, Dead Guy, etc. Fast forward a couple years as we "grew up" a little bit, MTB was my soundtrack to the long drives home from work, the nights out on the town, and still is 20 years later. I really admire that you and everyone you play music with have kept the fire burning for so long, and continue to play music together. I put my drums away a long time ago, and it is something that I really miss. Hopefully the small Botch reunion you did a couple of weeks ago is leading to something exciting! I'll keep my eyes and ears open. Thank you, dude!
You're telling me one of the most important songs in Mathcore was written on an acoustic guitar after thanksgiving dinner? 😂
you gusy blew my freakin mind at hellfest, and I'm super excited to see you in Paris in March. I even got my grandma to come as well
God song! so revolutionary you open a new way thanks 🙏
Thank you David, after years of figuring this out I can finally get one my most favorite riffs right! Transitions was the one that got me into Botch!
