That texture is called human skin. The pores and hair follicles exist so our skin can function as an essential part of the immune system and the body’s largest organ. If it was perfectly smooth it wouldn’t function properly.
I looove when you step out of your studio lights into other lighting during your base make up testing videos. I would love a video where you pick your top 5 fave base combos and re try them and compare them natural light
Thanks Soph! Dealing with a lot of texture on my face right now so it helps being able to relate! Maybe I’ll just walk around with a ring light around my neck!! 😂
Thank you for not adding to unrealistic ideas in the heads of people… particularly younger folks who have grown up seeing “perfection” on their screens. Those that have grown up with constant perfection in their faces seem to have lower self esteem, because those unattainable ideas are what they see reflected.
I am not even kidding when I say it took me so long to understand this. Thank you for posting this, for people with self esteem issues, I think it's important to hear.
Thank you for sharing this! I have so much respect for you for being real and honest. Social media is destroying our self esteem and it’s amazing to get reminders that’s not everything we see is real. ❤
as a girl who used to have perfect skin, i’m started to get a bit of texture now due to being sick and not taking care of my skin as well. this is helpful as i’m reminded by the way my skin looked before. most people never had that.
I wish things like this would have been talked about more when I was younger. It's still crazy to me the amount of people that didn't know magazines and photos were edited for models. Especially young women. We are way too hard on ourselves. Thanks hun!
Thank you for sharing this. I quite often get discouraged about the amount of texture and the size of my pores on my face while watching and looking at people on social media.
Wow you look amazing regardless of the lighting! It reminds us, again, that we can be our own worst critic and that lighting doesn’t change our beauty, it’s just a different perspective! ❤
This is such an important video to have going around. I even knew this was true, but it was still hard to remember even still because everyone tends to get great lighting
Thank God i found this video...thank you Sophie for sharing this info...i always felt insecure when i saw such smooth glass like skin...now i know everyone has these textures...
When I first tried on make up I did exactly what the beauty gurus did and believed make up wasn't for me because I looked so cakey and textured. I was so confused because their make up looked flawless. It made me think I wasn't normal.
❤ I spend my days thinking about why my skin looks so bad and everyone online it looks flawless, even though I know the truth these reminders really help. Thank you
Bless you !!! So many you g girls are depressed by how they look. May you continue sharing your skills and also sharing what’s real and what’s ‘enhanced’. Or plain unreal. Thank you ❤
I just subscribed because I admire your message. It Tells me you want to lift up other women! I appreciate you reminding us that lighting can transform one’s skin. While my logical brain is aware that most people use filters/ lighting, it’s not the initial thought after seeing dozens of people with smooth skin that glows. This exposure lends one to become immediately critical and self conscious as opposed to knowing the truth and thinking, Wow! That filter/lighting improves this and that.
This was great!!! Keep making these videos - so clear and candid. We need more of that! I'm an esthetician- I deal with skin ALL day. All skin has texture. All skin is unique. Our skin does so much for our body - it is our largest organ.
I have always worried I'm doing something wrong because youtubers look so darn smooth and perfect and mine looks so obvious that I have makeup , when they say it looks like skin and feels like nothing on, that also made me think wtf
Wow this is really helpful to know. I just thought I could never look as perfected as others but now I realize it’s the lighting and no one really looks that perfect. Thank you!
No I seriously needed this. I moved recently to a place with a well lit bathroom to one in a basement level with terrible light. I saw myself and thought “wtf Covid really aged me or have I always looked like this?” And I became SO self conscious of my skin when I always thought I had beautiful skin. It destroyed my confidence and now I have to work to fix it everyday but this really helped realize it’s probably always looked like that I’m just seeing it in a different light (literally)
Thank you so much. I’ve been so insecure and feel abnormal about my skin. I’m 45 and my skin causes me so much embarrassment….I look in different mirrors and feel so hideous at times. My pores etc…. Thank you for being so honest.
Good for you, for having the confidence and courage to do this and post it, because a lot of influencers won’t and it used to make me feel like I was doing something wrong!!!! You’re beautiful inside and out XoxoX
Thank you for putting this video out here. Young women need to hear and accept that skin is not supposed to look like a filter. You are beautiful with and without lighting 😊
Your makeup still looks nice, even when the lighting shows texture. Like, It'll even look different at sunset and natural sunlight than in studio lighting.
Thank you so much for doing this. I got so caught up in trying to find out how to make my make up look like this I forgot the real reason I even liked make up. ❤
I honestly had no idea that lightning played such a huge role in making people’s skin look better- I thought it had more to do with the type of camera that was being used. Wow! Crazy stuff! You learn something new every day:) And you just got a new sub for this video! Love it!!💕
Ty!! I honestly thought all this smooth skin I see is bc of high end skin care and make up products. It's nice to know I can stop trying to find makeup to have the impossible skin texture.
I appreciate that creators, especially in the beauty space, are working hard to normalize these things. Girls already have enough of a hard time with so many brands banking off their insecurities, it helps when people the my look up to try to counteract some of that. Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic little video … young people are having major self image issues due to unrealistic make up tutorials and by doing this you are shinning a huge light on that problem … beautiful inside and out lovely soph and why I have always admired and supported you. I bought your collection from revolution just to support you and found my ride or die lipstick in syrup and now it’s discontinued… 😢 have a word Soph 😂I am scrabbling eBay for it 😂
This was so kind of you to share. You don’t HAVE to be so open about your imperfections (not all influencers are), but it’s genuine and appreciated. ❤️🫶🏻
Thank you. I just started using makeup and felt like I was doing something wrong. This was very brave of you to post this video. I just wanted to say thank you for being honest.
You're so awesome Sophie, think there's a lot of young girls out there who need to know this! X
and boys👉🏻👈🏻
@@ucouldnev oh and of course boys too 🥰 x
@@Georgia-kf6pu And older people can use the reminder as well 😊.

Not 99%. EVERYONE SINGLE PERSON has texture. Social media and skincare advertisements have lied to so many people about it
Amazing reminder for people or wake up call! Exactly what the internet needs instead of airbrushed faces!
This made my whole year. I thought I was doing something wrong. Now I know I’m just human.💕
THANK YOU for sharing a REAL & HONEST basics that a lot of people tend to forget in the time of social media!
You look beautiful btw 💕
Keeping it real, Soph! I love it!

Omg I admire you so much for doing this, you’re so stunning! And hell yes! Everyone has texture!! ❤😊
I am not even kidding when I say it took me so long to understand this. Thank you for posting this, for people with self esteem issues, I think it's important to hear.
I love that you make us all feel human. And that it's ok to to be IG filters perfect. You're fabulous Soph. Love from New Zealand 🇳🇿 ❤️
Thank you for sharing this! I have so much respect for you for being real and honest. Social media is destroying our self esteem and it’s amazing to get reminders that’s not everything we see is real. ❤
You’re so pretty ❤❤with texture and everything. We’ve learned so much from you.
as a girl who used to have perfect skin, i’m started to get a bit of texture now due to being sick and not taking care of my skin as well. this is helpful as i’m reminded by the way my skin looked before. most people never had that.
THANK YOU for continuing to keep it real Soph 😘✌🏾💯...we should just know that nobody has "perfect, flawless" skin, right? 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Thank you for being honest and showing this to young women that are trying to reach an impossible look!
You just gained a new subscriber. LOVE YOUR HONESTY…!!!!!

I love your shorts. You are so good at them! ❤️
This is exactly why I subbed to you about a year or so ago when your name was still about nails. You are so real and genuine and I am here for it.
Thank you! I wish tutorials would always show this at the end to keep reasonable expectations
Thank you for this video! I've been really struggling lately with my confidence.
Great PSA. I even watch people and get envious of their skin. Always a good reminder.
Thanks for being transparent 👍🏿
you're always so wholesome and sweet love you 😭💌

Thank God i found this video...thank you Sophie for sharing this info...i always felt insecure when i saw such smooth glass like skin...now i know everyone has these textures...
I’m really insecure about how my nose looks, but seeing you with with the exact shape of my nose boosted my confidence a little bit! Thanks Soph!
That is the perfect way to excute examples of lighting differences
Thanks for being real with us all. ❤️. You are a beautiful soul....and a beautiful lady.
Love this!! Thank You - from all of those that feel rubbish about their skin right now x
When I first tried on make up I did exactly what the beauty gurus did and believed make up wasn't for me because I looked so cakey and textured. I was so confused because their make up looked flawless. It made me think I wasn't normal.
same. i always thought i am too stupid to apply makeup bc it never looked perfectly smooth and you could always still see some texture 😭
I needed that reassurance. Thank you!
❤ I spend my days thinking about why my skin looks so bad and everyone online it looks flawless, even though I know the truth these reminders really help. Thank you

Thank you for being so honest. With light 💡 or not light I think you’re gorgeous.

Yup! I remember a celebrity, I forget who but she said never stand in light directly above you if your trying to look good.
Thanks for sharing this, you still look AMAZING :) but it's great to see reality vs staging x

This makes me feel so much better
