Just got my hands on a near mint ‘72 Super Lead. Jumped the channels….What a beast. It hurt paying 4K for it, but I had to have it.

I am looking at one on my work bench right now!!!! 1-7-1970 build date. #323. Next is my 1969 SLP.

'Such an amp needs a Les Paul'. Couldn't have said it better, however the strat did sound amazing and the string seperation was phenomenal on that strat. Amps like these really showcase the the guitar type.

Every Marshall sounds different yet they share similar characteristics. I went through several old Marshall's until I found a really great sounding one.

Keep it. It's saddening most comments are about people finding the best amp they ever heard, but they sold it.

These 70's Super Bass's are just amazing sounding. They're biting and round. Like them better than the 70's SLP's.

It's refreshing to hear playing worthy of the gear. Some demos would have had money better spent on lessons.

you need a lot of low cut for recording this beast.

Yeah I reckon even in the room I would have dialed in less bottom and more top. I use LP Specials with my stock 70 Superbass(Pearly Gates humbuckers or P90’s) and I have the Bass on 0 and the Treb/Pres on 10. With a quad of warm, midrangey 68 Pulsonic 25 watters, it gives the tone enough cut to compete with my stock 71 1987 while remaining a little less aggressive/rounder.
Nothing worse than too much bottom end in a vintage crunch tone. None of the famous 60’s/70’s Bass spec users had this much bass in their sound.

Is there a purpose behind keeping all that grime in the guitar?
