UK here - I could happily watch and listen to John Kennedy all day. He's smart, down to earth and takes no crap from anyone

I understand her reluctance to name names. In the US these companies are extremely large and powerful with hot and cold running lawyers on tap, if she said specifically that Walmart were price fixing then she would be in a personal world of hurt with lawyers crawling all over her micro examining every word she said and throwing round huge lawsuits against her. Does anyone believe that farmers are getting a fair price for their goods and that supermarkets are not driving down the price that they pay but not what they charge and pocketing the profit? Anyone? Whilst I like most of what the Senator Kennedy does, this is borderline intimidation, 'tell me the name of the companies you believe are price fixing' oh, and if you do they will likely sue you back to the stone age, and if you don't, I can ignore the issue and pretend that is doesn't exist.

Don't focus on the fact that price gouging is happening, instead get the audience to focus on the fact that she seems "disingenuous" for not naming the big competitors for obvious reasons, but in legal language she is saying you need to investigate these guys. What if you are the accused in a trial? Nuance is important. Generalizations are usually meaningless. Try again. If you are a regular person, there is a lack of thought in your obvious lack of legal knowledge. Once again, try again.

I like how it goes after people sometimes, but not here. In this particular case, he's just wasting time. He knows what she means. He knows very clearly that she is saying that the grocery store should be looked at, primarily because so many of them are now under one banner and price-fixing would be a lot easier, but she's not ready to accuse them yet because they haven't been closely looked at. She's actually wanting not to defame them, which is basically what he's asking her to do. Kennedy just wants to play games and get sound bites. He's effective one day and useless the next. This is a next day.

I may be wrong but I believe that testimony before Congress cannot be the basis for a defamation lawsuit as long as she is answering a specific question posited by a member of Congress.

price fixing doesnt need to equate in cartoon villain profit margins. in canada several grocery companies were caught price fixing bread by up to $1.50 more over a 16 year period (this included Walmart Canada). Price fixing is price fixing.

America is losing its farmers. We need more farmers. It's a very hard job physically, but also, with good years and bad years, it makes it financially difficult.
As farming became more productive, less farmers are needed. As raw food is commodity market, margins are low - that’s a nature of the business.

When a farmer sows the ground, and reaps the harvest, mind you without a drought or a flood ruining most of their crops, farmers never know what the market price will fetch when they sow the ground... And like any business, the farmers sell their harvest to the HIGHEST bidder, not the lowest...
Farmers used to pass their farms down to the children. Children are not choosing to work the land but rather leave the area. Farmers then sell off the land/properties if they can't find someone to buy and continue his farm. I saw this in my hometown and rural farming in the area. Sad really for the Farmers who worked so hard to establish their lands watching it being torn up.
