Never saw an interview with her, and she seems so current and delightful. She talks of events about 50 years earlier, and now this interview is about 50 years old. But so sharp, quick, and wonderful. Makes the silent era seem so real, not just a flickering dream.
She was nominated for the Oscar for best actress for the Broadway Melody
What a wonderful, friendly, charming energy she had. So cheerful and engaging. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a star leaning forward like during an interview. She looked so eager and open.
I heartily concur ! Delightful interview with one delightful & lovely lady !
How absolutely stunning she still was at this age!
I was thinking the same thing !
What an amazing woman , these clips must never be lost
my relative Gareth Hughes worked with her in Hollywood
What a charming, delightful and unassuming woman! Also a most attractive cultured American accent. Most interesting!

Totally agree !
She is lovely. I’m agree with the comment below, if only I had a time machine. She was breathtakingly beautiful when she was young.
Yes you're right, breathtakingly is a fine description.
Bessie Loce was a terrific lovely actress. Very grateful and elegant woman
I agree 100 per cent !
She was a sweetie!!! And she did her own make-up!!! Awesome!!! And I love her infectious laugh!!! Always smiling!
According to Wikipedia, this is from 1977, and she moved to the UK in 1935 when she was about 37 years old.
Bessie Love was one of the success stories of the silent era. A great star, she managed her own career and changed with the times. She worked steadily for her entire life--an eight decade career.
Indeed. Quite an admirable lady.
This is wonderful. So many of Bessie's films are lost. But the ones we have left we must preserve and restore.
As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point !
Beautiful lady now and in your younger days, just wow!
Lovely lady
Bessie Love was a stunner in her heyday and even in old age she still looked good and had a great personality. What a lovely woman and a fabulous actress
so beautiful younger..and still..charming,sharp,interesting to listen too!!
Such a lively character.
That's for sure !!
What an utterly charming lady. Given time, I think she could have told a lot of great stories. I'm amazed she never made it to Parkey's show on the Beeb in the seventies as she is surely a chat show host's dream guest. Nice to see a younger Judith Chalmers, too.
I love her laugh
Indubitably !
Wonderful lady and actress.
Right On !!
A great lady & charming!
Yes !
She was so beautiful when she was young.
She was no Hope Emerson, but Bessie was indeed quite a fetching lass.
@@jubalcalif9100 Not my type I guess.
what an infectious laugh!
I could not agree more !
I wish I had a time machine.
she lost her Midland, Texas accent .... what a beauty she was.. and still is in the interview
I know, right??? I was surprised to hear that terribly snooty sounding English accent instead of her naturally cute NORMAL voice. _"Roh-thuh"_ 😣
Sounds like she's been living in England for so long, she's picked up a British accent.
@@DeanMk1 She moved there in 1935
@@ljmcdonald2703 ...and that explains her accent.
Indubitably !
Fascinating to see her, so gracious and charming. As a young actress, she was also known as a rule breaker! Lovely!
You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe !
Legend no other words need to be written
Wow - what a great interview - she's so lovely and articulate.
Very very true !
Bessie Love is a lively, pleasant charming and engaging interviewee. I love her transatlantic accent as well :)
Indeed she was! Thank you to ThamesTV for sharing this priceless footage with us! :-)
So true. I could listen to this charming & still lovely lady all day long !
My gosh what a vital wonderful woman
Lovely woman.
The most beautiful actress of all time, and a perfect lady as well.
She was no Marie Dressler, but the delightful Ms Love was indeed one lovely lady !
LOVED IT, BIG TIME!!!!!!!
Been a fan of her's for years have a board of over 80 pins of her ckeck it out on Pinterest
My studio making silent films.
Enjoyed!
Born Juanita Horton in Texas at the turn of the century, Bessie Love began her career in 1915 in the film studio of D.W. Griffen. She possessed an extraordinary beauty and an acting ability which rapidly established her as a major star of the silent era. When I was younger I loved the silent movies, it put me in a time warp, the etiquette of being in that place & time gave me an euphoria. Compared to today, that era seemed more irresistible
Very intresting
A somewhat nervous laugh. Bessie made all the right moves, unlike some Hollywooders. Never left England, after 1935, and still rests under a tree in Ruislip Cemetery.
Simply wonderful!!
A different age.
she's quite articulate for her age not like those other stars!
They don't forget you in England the way they do in the US.
Good 'ol Bessie was from Midland, Texas. She sure acquired a veddy proper English accent.
@11:20 the ukulele
She was born and raised in Midland, Texas. Father was an actual cowboy that worked on ranches. It's crazy. Her first name is Juanita. Sounds got bitten by the UK accent
I love Thames
The accent, it's like they beat the Texas out of her.
