Are you able to list the key measurements of your US size 8 dress form, so that I can refer to them when buying a dress form of my own for the purpose of making industry sample size garments. I believe across different dress form brands and second hand dress forms, there can be some variation of what is listed as a size 8. Also , I’m not sure if this matters, but I’m in Australia, where clothing sizing differs from the US (US size 8 in clothing is typically an Aus/Uk size 12). So I was wanting to know, if a US size 8 dress form would still be the size that I would need for producing sample size garments.

I bought a professional dress form, slightly smaller than myself; in fact the smallest available (size 0). The bust of the dress form is 31.5 inches, and I am 33 inches. However, it turns out that the dress form is bustier than I am. Side-to-side along the bustline on the front of the dress form is larger than the same measurement on me. Plus, the underbust of the dress form is much larger than me, making it impossible to design a reasonable bustier, bra, or corset. I understand that no dress form of a standard size will be exactly like my figure, but I don't think that the bust on the dress form is realistic. Looking at the busts and underbusts on the dress forms in this video, they don't look realistic either. It seems to me that this would compromise a designer's ability to realistically drape a design. Can you comment?
The one I want from PGM totals to $800. Where’d you get your dress form for under $200? Also I want to make bridal dresses but I also want to practice with pants. Would it be best to just purchase the one with legs?
Hi! Go to amazon! I bought it there for $200. The prices tend to go up and down so look around. Collapsible dressforms cost more but you can still find a great deal. PGM is a good brand but they do tend to cost more. A full body form is a good options if you want to do everything on it but FYI they do tend to sway when you work on them. They are also costly
What!? The expensive one recommended for designers is around $200?! That can't be right :-O Here we pay that for the cheapest plastic ones. If I want something like the one with collapsible shoulders I have to pay closer to $1000. That's just crazy :-(
Hi Patricia. What is the logic behind why we want the dress form to be covered with 100% linen/cotton? I've noticed that some of the adjustable dress forms (like those at JoAnns Fabric) mention having a "foam backed nylon cover for easy pinning and marking." Occasionally I have seen these say "polyester, "instead of nylon, as well. I'm curious as to the advantages of cotton of vs nylon or polyester.
The linen or cotton ones that the professional dress forms are made from will last you a lot longer. They are made to last for years! The fabric can handle the heat, steams and many pins over the years. The fabric is tougher. The ones from Joanns aren't meant for heavy use. There's a reason why professional forms cost more. They can handle the wear and tear. I have seen some improvements with the Joanns type forms over the years but they still don't compare.
I love this video but I'd like to know where to get 1 of those and not an expensive 1. I believe i'm a size 10 in bust and a size 12 in hip I live in Belize
I'm not sure which companies ship to Belize. You can contact different companies on Instagram and find out if they would ship internationally. It will cost more so you might have to search around Belize if you're looking for one that's not expensive. They typically run a few hundred dollars for an "affordable" one.

Yes they do! You can find them as small as size 2! I hope you were able to find one.

My half scale is a PGM but the others I purchased on Amazon. The 12 was a generic brand. It’s less expensive than a PGM.
