Yeah its great. I've been watching episodes for 10+ years -- even moved abroad my self for 4 years. But I would not want to be on the show because I don't want people seeing where I live haha
If you watch Stephane Plaza’s show, you’ll see that French people look for other things. The old town houses with a lot stairs and no where to park are not typically what people are looking for.
I usually turn down the volume because I can’t stand hearing the couples complain about this, or that, or the other thing! Just love seeing the places!
Really? The complained about every little thing - wallpaper, color of the walls, no parking, price. I HATE when they list a price, $2000, get the price, then whine it's too expensive. Sheesh
They do have to compromise if they expect to get everything that comes in a $3000 a month unit for $2000. That just isn't happening. And you don't tell the realtor you want to spend $2000 then complain -specifically about the price - when you're shown a unit for $2000. Like who TF do they think they are. I guess that I must be rich, because I'm single and apartment number one for $2k/mo seems very affordable. These French apartments are really gorgeous, better than anything on this show in other European cities. The French have great style and that French man is a double thumbs up!!!

I fell in love with Bordeaux! Would have snatched up that riverfront place the minute I saw it. I pay that much for a tiny 1 bedroom in the middle of LA
You don't want riverfront. Very noisy with traffic and all kinds of events on the riverside. The townhouse is much better. Lovely residential neighborhood.
Prices have exploded all over the world. I'm in Germany and paid 300€ for my 1 bedroom flat, now there are similar ones on the same street offered for 1.000€. In the big cities you wouldn't get this for under 2.000€. It's the same all the way around the globe in Australia and NZ as well.
I leave in Bangkok part of the year. My son lives there permanently. Generally, a furnished 2-bedroom place in a modern building, with pool, workout room, parking and even a security guard, runs between $500 and $1,000 a month, depending on location. France is expensive to live in (I'm French and my family all live there). They won't be able to save much. But that's the opinion of an old woman (me). However, it's a show and it's fun to watch.
Good choice ! Je suis bordelaise , the first appartement is in St Michel which is not the safer place in town…. In Chartrons it’s like living in a small village but in the middle of a big city, and it’s quite safe. Enjoy your home in Bordeaux !
Bordeaux public transport is, as you say, public transport heaven. The main railway station will take you anywhere else in France, and there is an airport accessible by public transport. Sell the car immediately. Rent when you need one.
Center bordeaux at 2k???? It is supposed to be the priciest city! In Paris u get a really small studio at that price, bordeau is the same actually, and if he is french he should know that most of us have bicycle,especially if u r center(unless ur job is far from the center) the city I really beautiful,one of the most loved city in France,u get also the sunshine 🌞, the town house is the best option,with a garden! That's what I kept thinking, either you sell the car and make use of the great public transport system or you find somewhere to rent a car park. They might find after living there a few months they don't need a car that much. I'm in Australia, our public transport system sucks and our cities and neighbourhoods are spread out over long distances. Having a car is a necessity. But Europe is designed along very different principles.

What's the point of saying you'll pay 2000 then complaining when you see a place that costs 2000. Or even 1900. But also, what's the realtor thinking when she shows a place only 100 less, without many of the features the customer wants. And yes, it's nice if the outside of a building is attractive but that isn't what I'll be seeing when I'm in my apartment. Finally, based on most of the interiors and furnishings of the first two apartments, they also didn't have 'charm'. They looked more like more sets for a 70's American TV show. They certainly weren't what I think of when I think of France. And I have a friend who lives in France. His place looks nothing like that.

#3 Those places are nightmares in the US, no one is going to choose them in other countries if they can afford not to. We showed some friends from New York an apartment building like that in Mexico, granted it was in much worse condition that this one was, but they immediately were like, no way. Get us out of here. Actually, the realtor did a great job. A bathtub is not a given in European housing. Parking is also not a given. In Europe, you can apply for a residential parking permit that allows you to park in your area. If a car doesn't have that permit on its windshield and is caught, there is a fine.
