US Sugar, Sugar Fest, 4-6-2 No. 148 with sister No. 153's Nathan 6 Chime whistle, 3-16-24

For the first time since the 50's, Florida East Coast Railway, No. 153's whistle was blown in Clewiston on No. 148. No. 153 has not run since 1992, US Sugar tried to buy No. 153 to restore and run but The Gold Coast Railroad Museum would not part with it. That is why US Sugar bought No. 1504 from Jacksonville instead.

My earliest memories of trains revolve around seeing 153 at the GCRM, and to finally hear what its whistle sounds like is quite touching for someone like me.

A very interesting video, I particularly liked the steam locomotive 4-6-2 with its steam whistle sound and the chugging noise of the diesel locomotive.

It’s interesting I didn’t know that 148 had a sister even though US sugar wasn’t able to acquire 153 it’s very cool that 148 got to wear the voice of her a long parted sister and 148 is the only steam locomotive I know that uses both an energized clapper and a pneumatic bell ringer rod on a single bell occasionally they use the pneumatic ringing rod but not as often as the energized clapper

I find it kind of interesting that the Nathan 6 chime sounds a little like an SP 6 chime to me :) (and I do like a good SP 6 chime)

They could've gotten FEC 113 from the Gold Coast Railroad Museum. It's still up for sale, isn't it?

Yes, it's for sale but they wanted to much for it and it needs a ton of work. 1504 was a better fit for them.
