@@eXcludeyStarling Hang in there Lillie - it will get better. I think The Midnight and their amazing music have helped get a lot of us in this community through some rough times the last few years. For me the challenges have been around supporting my mom with end of life dementia. They are my go to music when going out running and they never fail to energize me and keep me determined and positive - as they say - 'If you can feel your heartbeat, You’re not done yet' :)

💯 can't agree more! I was born in 85 but my older brothers kept my music love in the 80s and after one of them committed suicide when I was 18 (he was 28), I always think I can hear his echo in music like from The Midnight (he played guitar and is the reason I love music so much)

I'm currently going through a divorce, having to start over in this economy, and feeling like the only reason to stick around on this rock in space is for my kids, hearing these words is a reminder that there's so much more life to live and that it's not over yet. The Midnight is one of the only bands I know of that iterates on their sound with EACH new album and it's ALWAYS an absolute knock-out and remains true to their sound. Incredible!
I had to admit they were my favorite band when I realized that not only did I buy EVERY album they had on vinyl (and digital), but I listened to every single song off every single album, and I loved nearly every single one. Never happened with any other band in my entire life.
@@vodengc520 Yeah I started calling them my favorite band after they released Nocturnal. Pleased to say it's only been uphill since. They're truly one of a kind.
Another band (that you may also enjoy) that does that is The Paper Kites. Each album they have is a different aesthetic and tells a different story. And they also do a very 80s-esque sound for a number of their albums (Twelvefour, Roses, On the Corner Where You Live, and On the Train Ride Home). One of their albums has a "enchanted creatures living in the woods" vibe (Woodland) and another has a "folky songs you listen to during a road trip through the redwood forests vibe (Young North). Another has that "driving through the city after a bad break up on a summer night in the rain" vibe (States).

When I heard the Van Halen Jump synth in this song I immediately picked up my guitar and figured the whole thing out from start to finish in less than 20 minutes. I then made a solo for the instrumental ending... Even added some EVH style finger tapping to it. It's been a LONG time since any song made me spin my chair around and pick my guitar up immediately to learn it. As a huge Van Halen fan as a kid, the fact I wrote a solo that applied a touch Eddie's style to the song just felt like a fitting tribute to him. This song is just incredible. I like a lot of others miss that saxophone sound, but when the result is music like this? I'm fine, totally fine, keep doing what you're doing because it's working... lol.

I discovered the The Midnight two years ago with the faboulous "Endless Summer" song (my favourite together with Crystalline), Jason, Sunset. I was a teenager in the 80s (it's my favourite decade with the 70s e something of the 90s) so I try to compare this music with the 80s one. The The Midnight don't copy, just take from the philosophy of that decade actualizing with new atmosphere that are in continuity with the old one, but also totally new. Very, very good music. I love all of their EP's, but the only LP I like for the most part is Endless Summer. Kids is quite terrible and overly cringe, and Monsters has Deep Blue and a couple other "ok" tracks. So far I really like both singles for this album and am hoping its great from start to finish.
