He is so unbothered by their shade 😆 This is funny 😂
It was honestly disrespectful. I would’ve walked out.
Charlemagne hates on any man that is more likeable than him especially if they are in similar field.
Envy gave the most lackluster intro I ever heard him give lol.
Charlemagne was so RUDE..and ENVY seemed some type a way.. sorry it wasn't you dude
It’s necessary to see if he’s coming into the culture from a genuine angle. He isn’t an industry plant or someone who will turn on us once he get his bread up. And never do a breakfast Club interview or hip hop platform again once he starts working for Ellen or sum bulshit lol.
I love the way DJ Cassidy is very comfortable with who he is and what he has done kudos Cassidy!!!!!!
Pass the mic was a great idea that opened the door for artist who we tend to forget about. The outstanding music from the 70 and 80s is so important. Thank you Cassidy for keeping the era of the best music alive. ❤❤❤😎 😎
I love Pass The Mic. I get exited everytime!
I’m going to need CTG and Envy to address their tone on tomorrow’s air because I don’t know if this is hate or they just refuse to accept this man because he’s not a POC.
It’s like this with most black folks and anybody of a minority lighter than them. It’s somehow ALWAYS turned into this colorist, internal self hate thing where they make it about white people & ultimately end up being the victim and down playing someone’s success. Granted there is culture vultures, but they let them slide like Leroy Cohen & end up projecting on humble people like Cassidy.
I 100% agree...there was no energy from them what so ever. Seemed a bit rude.
Ok I'm glad I wasn't the only one that noticed. I wonder why the hate.
They’re very selective with their positive energy
I can see why y’all see it like that…I think it’s DJ Cassidy energy of being defensive which is understanding because he probably deals with backlash all the time. However…Blacks had to establish a culture of our own and as a nonblack…you have a privilege having a culture and benefit off of someone else’s. To not acknowledge that and dismiss the privilege that you in life period does not sit well with many black people…as you tell them of your contribution…to a significant component of black culture.
Is it me, or Charlemagne was kinda being a dick to Dj Cassidy 🤔. He was comparing him to D-Nice! He mentioned D-Nice name too many times. On some hating shit! They're two different DJ who love to play the same music!
Wasnt just you. I was like what is going on?
I love Pass the Mic and DJ Cassidy! Pass the mic was definitely my go to during COVID
Im going to binge them again after I finish watch this!
DJ Envy cant hide when he not feeling an interview or a person....LOL!!! It felt a lil tense. But i liked hearing about DJ Cassidy
100 I thought I was the only one that noticed. lol
Tho both hating on him. Lol.
Yeah they both kinda of rude, Envy acts like he jealous and Charla and his dumb questions
@@50somethang I noticed that too I thought I was the only one that was thinking that way. I would of walked out too what was that about
Do I really have to say why??? Like nobody see it??? LETS PLAY A GAME GUESS WHAT RACE HE IS!!!!
Charlamagne and Envy don't respect this dude AT ALL. Their tone in this interview says it all. They think he's a culture vulture
I got that vibe too.
@@mmou3878 I got that vibe too. He is a great DJ. Charlemagne is being rude. Don't bring someone to the show if you are going to attack them. Smh!
Charlemagne definitely disrespected the dude.
They were so rude!!!
I agree. Envy probably jealous because he is not being invited to DJ for the Obamas and others. I’m not even sure if he plays music for the 40 and over crowd
I didn’t even know DJ Cassidy was white. I thought he was Puerto Rican. 😂 Excellent interview!!!
He cant be white....😂
I didn’t know much about Cassidy but I loved his “pass the mic” videos. After seeing him on “The Breakfast Club” today I am very impressed with his story, talent and humbleness! Love this guy!
he's a real griot. respect!
Thank you Cass! The writers were trying to come at you! You dodged it and kept being professional! Journalist Charlemagne didn’t know if Verdine was a woman or a man 😞keep shining!
This interview had a weird energy. Learned a lot though. Pass the mic is still saved on my RUclips. Played all the soundtracks to my life. Great Job DJ Cassidy.
Ps just ask the question DJ Envy “ I was gonna ask” 😂
"did the napkin have a heart on it too" 😂👀 Charlamagne said what we were thinking
That was funny 😂
Cthagod is low key hating on cassidy lmao.
Yes I’m getting tired of him I don’t listen nor watch breakfast club anymore unless it’s someone I like lol
Low key? He made that blatantly obvious from the START!! DJ Cassidy was always a little corny to me, but this interview made me understand why he is, the way he is.
@@2six9 what makes him corny because he talks proper and not Ebonics 🤷🏽♀️
I kne I wasn’t crazy I’m thought the samething 🤦🏽♂️😂
Nah we gotta check em at the door because people try to invade and use our culture for financial gain and it’s not genuine.
I love DJ Cassidy! My husband and I became big fans during Covid, and his energy was contagious! I love the fact that he was genuinely happy, and you could tell!
As a DJ, I got CHILLS listening to the stories of him talking about his creativity on the decks. Especially when he was talking about Stevie Wonder's performance.
You got Chills?!?! Ain’t no way
@@willj8814 because you are me?
same. can you imagine juggling like that in his situation lol hell no. And the fact that he got two technic 1200s at age 10.... you know they were the all blacks, too😂
Envy sounding salty…😮💨
Dj Cassidy is white?!?! I assumed he was light skinned lol dang we really do find out something new everyday 😅😂
Girl I thought he was Spanish 😂
As he said Hip Hop has no boundaries if you love it
I thought he was Arab/middle eastern
@@sharonlaudat3297 yes that’s absolutely true.
@@AlexRodriguez-bu5tq me too
People really didn’t know he was white?!? Lol but what’s the beef here??? Looked like they (especially Envy) didn’t want to do this interview. The energy wasn’t matched
he's Jewish
Yes the energy seemed so off, like they don't really want to interview him
I can't believe ppl didn't know he was white
All this time I thought he was from the Caribbean, but raised in NYC, but he's definitely dope for the culture !!!
@@Pugetwitch is this a response to the white part or why the interview was off??? Lol cause majority Jews identify as white
I love DJ Cassidy's passion and enthusiasm for the culture of DJing. On the other hand, DJ Envy appears unenthused, and CTG seems to have never met a white guy into Hip Hop. 😂 Cassidy 's stories were D.A.F., but apparently not to these guys. LMAO!!! 🤣
His pass the mic was the best helped me get through the pandemic with great music
✨✨💕
Charlemagne must’ve woke up on the wrong side of the bed Why is he coming at dude like that?? Seems annoyed.
we black people we are fake if he was a gangster sold drugs
Cuz he’s white lol. He did Post the same way
They were vetting him......considering the history in this country of black culture appropriation or worse--just stealing black art and creations so black artist do not get credit for their creations......the last thing Hip Hop needs is a movement of Black Erasure. Unfortunately it has already started......in 50 years the face of Hip Hop will be gentrified. Non-blacks and certain BP want it to be so inclusive that it is helping the progression of Black Erasure in Hip Hop.
@@juniorzigzag467 Sounds like they were vetting him.....last thing Hip Hop needs is to be allowing a racist WP infiltrate the culture. A few yt rappers have already been "let in" or accepted to some degree and they are racist as hell. I can think of two right now and there are only like 20 known yt rappers in total, in the game right now. BP are way to inclusive with black culture. Black Erasure in Hip Hop has already started.......in 50 years Hip Hop will be completed gentrified.....BP have 400 years of history to prove the pattern. Just bcuz they like Hip Hop doesn't mean they cannot be racist. Just like, just bcuz a WW sleeps with BM doesn't mean she cannot be racist. They fetishize Hip Hop just like they fetishize BM.
The energy is matched to his.
Charlemagne started of with him being very robotic... the energy followed suit. Dude just talks a lot and took a minute to warm up. He's pure.
I didn't see "hate", at all.
They asked very good open ended questions and let him tell his story... you heard them respond, via active listening... (no over talking) just normal stuff.
I think a lot of people here Need "chaos" to be a thing... LOL
Yea I agree with you!! For once they let the guest speak and people still complain 🤷🏾♀️

He held his own.Big up Dj Cassidy
Envy lowkey heated 😂😂 lol
I didn’t know much about DJ Cassidy, but I do now! Loved the interview…music is LOVE and we can all sit at that table collectively! 5/17/23
I did not know he was white I thought he was light skin
Pass The Mic was the best thing on the internet. Matter of fact...outside of the live performance of Purple Rain that ended up in the album, i thought Pass The Mic #2 was the best music related thing ever on the internet
Nah Versuz and Club Quarantine (DNice) ,Cassidy was 3rd tho
Every time I watched Pass the Mic, I always left with a smile on face. Blessings to DJ Cassidy.
Respect cassidy for way u handled yourself with rudeness and i learned alot about you and pass mike was legendary
🙂
Why is this interview so cringey? Like what’s wrong with Charla and Envy?
I was thinking the same thing. They seem off
Envy living up to his name
Yeah the energy was off
I say this with the experience of being the only one of us at many professional meetings, the hating was palpable. But sometimes you cant hide your dislike. 🤷🏾♀️Its like somebody made them do this interview when they didnt want to.

Non-blacks and certain BP want it to be so inclusive that it is helping the progression of Black Erasure in Hip Hop. When he said he was from the upper east side of Manhattan, that lets you know he was a very privilege yt kid. He also said his grandma came from money. This country has 400 years of history of rich WM being at the forefront of BP demise......just bcuz non-blacks like Hip Hop doesn't mean they are not racist. Alot of them fetishize Hip Hop, just like fetishizing a BM. Alot of them get BBL and lip fillers trying to get bodies that have a similar phenotype to BW, but they hate BP. “ a deejay play records differently that they lived through” FACTS
Yes, pass the mic was amazing! It would have been nice to have heard A Tribe Called Quest on that list to appear on that show❤
So happy to DJ Cassidy on the Breakfast Club.
Dj envy look jealous and butt hurt that he didn't get all those opportunities at the Whitehouse lol
Yep. He’s mad that he didn’t come up with Pass the Mic
Bp know why he was invited to the White House come on now. In 50 years of Hip Hop, you think there were not better DJ's that would have been a good fit to go to the white house???? DJ Envy was not jealous.....they were both vetting him. Last thing Hip Hop needs is a covert racist in the mix. The dude was flexing his "white privilege" the whole interview.
Pass the Mic during Covid was a much needed good time! I'm a big fan now, please come to London DJ Cassidy and bring Pass the Mic over 🎉
I have never heard anyone rep the Upper East Side so gangsta
the black technic 1200s at age 19 from mom and dad.... I know they didn't have a Christmas tree set up during the holiday season 😂 they're on some other generational wealth type long money stuff...
@@Pugetwitch Facts! Black technic 1200s at Age 9, not 19. lol But God bless.
So basically, you never heard "white privilege" repped so gangsta.......complete contradiction
Looks like Envy jealous of an actual real DJ that blew and had more connections than him..both Envy and Charla were hating like shyyt
CTG definitely hating but I get why tho especially the DNice digs😂,but how CTG dont know who Verdine White is, CTG called him She instead of he😂,CTG you lost black points bro😅
What a great interview, so humble.
CTG was baffled Cassidy is his favorite DJ lol as if he’s sitting there lying 😂
Pass the Mic was epic!! I loved each one so much! Had me hella emotional❤
Good energy @cassidy not sure what envy and chalarmagne were on
Pass the mic was SUPER DOPE. This gets maaad respect
Envy and Charlamagne was being very weird.
This was a surprising good interview...I only knew DJ Cassidy from COVID days I think. Learned a lot, he seems like a well accomplished decent guy!
D Nice did that.
Woke up out of stroller at 3 and remembers the movie. Wow. Lol
They are acting like they don’t like dude!!! Very awkward interview.
True. Very disappointing and unnecessary and undeserving but he handled it with grace
LOL. Envy looks annoyed. 😂. Especially when Cassidy start name dropping.
That’s is what I just posted like I’m not understanding this.
Envy is so jealous. I guess he's just being true to his name.
Envy whole body language was off.
I so love DJ Cassidy💯💖 he got me through a lot💖💖💖💖💖
yes! and he's so damn sexy to me 😂❤🎉
@@Pugetwitch I know righttt😉😂
Great interview. I now want to experience a DJ Cassidy show
Though I get why there are lots of comments about the guys being a cold/disrespectful, I think they respect his accomplishments but have a hard time relating to him. The passion he has for his work is evident...I pray for that.
Loved the interview 😊
I guess we all learned he was white today. Also, this interview is kinda tense. What’s the tea?
I promise I thought he was mixed, latin, or some other ethnicity, but white never crossed my mind! Learned something new everyday!
Jealousy
I never paid any attention. I thought he was Latino.
I always thought he was white..
I thought he was Arab/middle eastern
Charla seems irritated lol
Why do I get the feeling that Envy and Charlemagne didn’t want to interview Cassidy? 🤔
How am I just seeing this now ?! I love DJ Cassidy for Pass the mic, love, love, love him.
Pass the Mic was the best thing to happen during covid.
💯💯
Along with Verzuz and Club Quarantine with D-Nice ❤
I think theres a mass amount of jealousy in the room.
Well, after the grandmother story...
More like he was throwing his privilege in everyone’s face. Look out the upper east side window. How many effin black people have ever been on that side other than deliveries. I noticed how he didn’t state which side they chose in that black only white only bathroom scenario.
I did not know he was white. I thought mixed.
I loved the pass the mic episodes. He is amazing. Wish for bigger and better for DJ Cassidy
I love the way Cassidy survived the questions.🤓
I had no idea he was Caucasian.
I thought he was Latino this whole time
Looks white to me
The later half of this interview was a lot better than the 1st half
I was so turned off I couldn’t even finish it
@@WicksNola504 I get it they were so rude at the beginning and dry it was hard to keep going.
18 minutes in and I'm loving this interview! It's so interesting to hear his journey and he has an amazing knowledge of music.
I don't know what the energy in the room from Charla was about... Everyone's journey is different. He is blessed but also talented and it's a great achievement to receive those accolades from President Obama to play at his events.
I was wondering the same thing with CTG, he's came off rude.
I agree, super talented, knowledgeable and professional.
All I see is Affion Crockett after the Verzuz battle....and I can't unsee it.
Much Love DJ Cassidy,. your show was lifting and Exciting to watch. I appreciate your creativity too
I’m getting varnell vibes from him. The Martin episode and Envy is Martin
I AM CACKLIIIIIIIIING
I’m crying 😂😂😂😂
@@AmberBrooklyn24 it’s true lmao
Envy is mad Cassidy is where he is and didn’t do it like he did😂😂
Chile this interview has no energy. Envy is looking at him so lackluster.
This interview is amazing....
I love the Breakfast Club and Charlemagne but I didn’t care for this interview AT ALL. It was so disrespectful. If I were Cassidy I would’ve got up and walked out. I understand you may not like a person or whatever it is that you feel but you’re a journalist and you gotta take your personal feelings out of it. They questioned and second guessed every thing the man had to say. I couldn’t even finish the interview.
Be glad he didn't, because this created my respect for him. I didn't know much of anything about him and felt like he was kind of disingenuous but I see him now. He really loves hip hop...I like him. So he gained something and they are coming off weird.
Dj Cassidy is so connected to his spirit. He transcended all the hate and criticism from these two. Music is for everyone not just black people.
He’s not black?
I love Cass me and my mom loved your videos during COVID you are amazing
Why is Charlamagne So Inappropriate.. Hater Much??
Great interview!
When i looked at the thumbnail, i thought MJ came back from the dead or something , like a throwback lol
DJ Cassidy 🎶‼️‼️
His show at Prudential was Amazing!
Yo I watch breakfast club less and less nowadays. This interview reminds me of why.
"Pass The Mic" was definitely 🔥🔥🔥
I thought this dude was black???
He is a cool guy 😎
I like Dj Cassidy. He jams all the time. I love pass the mic. I like that he is unbothered by the slick shade. Stop it
Charlemagne sounds like a hater today!
CTG was so salty he made his lips dry 17.57
😂😂😂
Mixed emotions on this interview...Cassidy is super passionate about his craft...Clearly a GOAT (DJ) to the greatest from the 70's and Obama. Idk if its hate from Envy and CTG, but definitely some "damn they never called me faces!" Maybe a culture vulture from Cassidy and a bit obnoxious, idk. Overall, he's SUPER PASSIONATE, and Pass The Mic Be LIT! The end!
Your vibes are correct! What you saw as passion was fetishization of Hip Hop culture (just like a WW who fetishizes a BM). The dude was covertly flexing his "white privilege" throughout the whole interview. What you saw as obnoxious was his energy of being a bit condescending. They were both vetting him......the last thing Hip Hop needs is a covert racist in the mix.
The fact that Charla did not know who Verdine White is… that’s my issue with him, sometimes, he knows nothing about music outside of Hip-Hop 🙄. But shout out to DJ Cassidy and D-Nice for playing music I love 💛
He did know he simply asked how did that become his mentor you must be a lil slow 🤦🏾♂️
@@jonathanwoods3968 He referred to Verdine as "she"
@@jonathanwoods3968 he called Verdine a “she”. Indicating that he did not know who he was. You’re the slow one.
I went to the Friday Night show. It was great. My lady and I had a great time.
I told DJ Cassidy to do this interview. -- TK Kirkland
I Love Seeing DJ Cassidy on BET
Aw poor envy no one idolized him as a dj 😢😂
Best interview for the DJS! 💯 💯 💯
He is a bit robotic, but it was solid. I don't think they were being shaddy. It was a good interview. Cool to learn more about this cat because for most of us he came out of no where. But he's clearly a vet in the game and earned his spot. respect.
He may be on the spectrum.
Good interview 🫡
DJ Cassidy looks no less Black than DJ Eny(I can say that, I too am beige😆). Love pass the mic, ,, definitely helped me through the pandemic
CTG doesn’t know when to be serious, always bring some child-ish energy when it’s not warranted in the middle of a serious conversation.
Super inspiring!!!!!🎈
DJ Cassidy white 😳🤔
Love DJ Cassidy
Veryyyy weird interview...energy was veryyy off....were they forced to do it or something???
Love the Diddy story 👌🏾👏🏾
