Thanks man. If you have a PC or a PS2 and like souls games you should for sure give it a try. Slow to start but stick with it and im sure youll enjoy it!
I wouldn't call it soulslike. Its more like lok soul reaver 1 and 2 . It was good ps2 era game. Would even call it a little ahead of its time and maybe little too ambitious. It got under the radar for so many people
A great, well-put together video and all respect to your father, but I have to disagree. The some or all the factors you give in argument for it being a soulslike (lock on, slow doors, I frames during certain actions and expendable "currency" for killing certain enemies) could be used the exact same way to argue RE3, 3D LoZ, Soul Reaver, the Tomb Raider Legend trilogy, and even the FPS "Legendary" soulslikes
I guess the thing is that I'm playing the PS2 version on the PS3, and I didn't realize the attack buttons were context sensitive. Explains how my fights have been nothing but blocks and power attacks. In anyone's experience, do the l2 and r2 buttons being triggers throw off your ability to do combos?
I played it when it first came out and managed to get all the way to the final boss without realising that there was a button to exit battle mode (I'd just back away until out of range), so I could not beat the boss because of that bit where you need to pick up the shield to reflect its attack back. I had no idea how to interact with it so kept dying there and redoing the previous stages of the boss over and over...
You mean OG PS1 games? I have faint memories of playing them as a child but I'd have to revisit them if I were to give my opinion on the comparison/similarities
@@X-i_i-K this game was even compared to tomb raider even back then even had a cutscene of lara croft tombstone in it dated to 2003 the year of angel of darkness. kinda ironic and creepy for the prediction.
I remember trying to emulate this game a few years ago but it was very messy and the best it could perform was by playing it as if it was in slow-motion, at the time it had issues that makes it difficult to play with but it seems you managed to play it smoothly. Not sure if it could be due to PC specs or something between the game file or even the emulator settings. Would love to be able to play it as expected
I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600 and a RX 5700 XT. I'm also running modded textures aswell. Game ran flawless for me using the "latest nightly" build of PCSX2 as that build is recommended in the community.
@@X-i_i-K gave it a try once again and was able to see the nightly build that didn't exist yet at that time, actually worked smooth now but didn't manage to make the modded textures work even by following the steps in the forum shared in another comment. Yet I am still enjoying it as is and will continue playing it during my free time.
Dear SONY Please for the love of Humanity NO MORE Last of Us updates, More of unkown games like Primal
You just unearthed memories of me playing a demo disc of this on my brothers PS2 as a kid! Going to replay this now myself

I just started playing this game on PCSX2. It caught my attention because I've literally said, "Don't call me Jennifer. It's Jen." lol

This is a great game played it twice still have the original ps2 copy.

That's a good comparison more Soul Reaver. Calling every game these days soulslike is lazy from a reviewer.

I find that ropes and other objects may have long pointy projections across the screen unless Clamping is turned to none, which fixes this.
I always get up to the water level and stop playing it. Loved the game but always get distracted by other games.
Yeah the water area is a bit of a slog
Dude try out Draken 2
Which emulator did you use? It looks pretty clean, have tons of PS2 games but nothing to play them on.
Pcsx2 to emulate, theres also a HD texture mod!!
@@X-i_i-K oh wow 😱 where do get HD mods...thxs for response🤯
