Just ordered a Homak cart today, so looking for more videos hoping I made a good decision over the new US General cart. Looks pretty solid for what it costs, so there is value in the box. Hopefully it translates into the cart. 🤔
Great video man. You you by any chance get the peg style socket trays from harbor freight and put it in your top drawer? I want to see if the 1/2" tray will fit in height wise.
Hope it works and last for you but after watching both clips I just didn't see the quality compared to the Harbor Freight box. Granted the individual drawer latches are better than the HF but I'm referring to the overall construction plus the casters. Anyway thanks for posting a review.
There's no question that Harbor Freight brought their A game when they came out with series 2. I think the key differences would be drawer depth in that this box is 2" deeper so overall capacity would be better. Some people would also really enjoy the look of the stainless steel top that mimics the big boys Snap-on and the rest {for me it was a nice feature but not a deciding factor). The drawer pulls are important given that is your main tactile interface with the box and while they're good they didn't knock it out of the park. What I found when looking at boxes in this price category was that they all had at least one or two features I wasn't a fan of but since the pricing was so much better than tool truck boxes I figured I could make that work and be happy with it. There is a ton of competition in this sector of tool boxes with Milwaukee (👍👍), Menards (no Menards close to me), Husky( 🤔) Craftsman (👎), Montezuma (💲), Harbor Freight (👍👍). I think my main goal in these videos was to let people considering the Homak RS Pro series see what Homak looks like with some use on it. I think you could easily buy the Harbor Freight box with confidence but I do really enjoy this box thank you for the comment good luck whichever box you end up buying 😀
What’s almost never mentioned, is that homak has a lifetime warranty! (Yes I know you referenced in the video but for an apples to apples text, it should be repeated) Clearly us general you have to buy the parts (at least they are listed on their website) . I sold my slide top homak service cart and have regretted it ever since. Homak I believe is made in Pennsylvania! Us general? Not a clue... right now I’m drooling at the 72” series 2, however if could get the homak for a comparable price , I will pull the trigger. Although I do like that series 2 has 2-3 more drawers than the homak
Literature on their website is really poor. I know in these videos it's stated that the important drawers are dual slide but there is no picture, PDF or schematic on their website demonstrating that and I have yet to find an official weight rating. As far as I know there's 4 660lb casters which is not much weight at all for a box this size. The fact that they market this as a 24 inch deep box but most people seem to measure it out at 21-22" is also a huge letdown. I think the US General is the better box at this price point.

I’m not sure, the construction looks to be about the same and I believe the metal is as thick if not thicker. Plus this has a better drawer layout.

Where did you say you got that power strip from?
