  • Hilarious 1907 film by Alice Guy Blaché is brought to life with AI frame by frame colorization and upscaling with added sound.
The plot involves a musician in an apartment building who's music triggers a dance jamboree. The moment he starts pounding on the keyboards, a group of seamstresses working next door catch the vibe and start dancing. Then pretty much everybody else within earshot.
    Surreal and really quite funny.
Parisien Alice Ida Antoinette Guy-Blaché, better known as Alice Guy was not only a film pioneer, but the first true movie maker. She was also the first woman in a room full of men.
In 1885 she attended an early Lumiere film presentation. Guy was a secretary working for a camera company owned by Léon Gaumont.
She convinced her boss to percure a Lumiere Cinématographe and to allow her to shoot a film. That decision not only changed her life but the fortunes of Gaumont.
Her 1886 film "La Fée aux Choux" (The Cabbage Fairy) was not only the first movie directed by a woman, but probably the first narrative film ever made.
She went on to make over 1000 films. But her work has been largely forgotten.

Restored to 4k 60 fps clarity using Neural networks.
    The Deep Learning Restoration Process:
Some of the deep learning AI machines like Dain, and DeOldify are freely available from the Github community, if you are prepared to learn how to use Google Colab. You can also try the DainApp for desktop, but will need a computer with a good graphics card, and lots of patience.
This was the process I followed:
    1. Removed artifacts and noise.
    2. Interpolated new frames ( from 15 to 60fps) using the DainApp, to add depth awareness
    3. Upscaled the original 480p film to 4K resolution using Topaz Video Enhance AI and Vidcoder.
    4. Added neural color using Deoldify
    5. Added music !
This short AI enhanced film is published here for preservation purposes and to add a transformative immersive experience to the work of early filmmakers.
It is free to view and not commercially available on DVD or for republishing elsewhere.
Published here under the Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Online Video as outlined by the Center for Media & Social Impact.
