Your perspective is always deeply thoughtful- I’m grateful for all the material you offer. I can’t imagine not using reversed cards- perhaps Ken James was trying to appeal to novices?? I’ve watched some of his videos in the past and am familiar with Jungian thinking from my years as a psychologist. I didn’t connect with Ken James as much as I’d hoped- my sense was his videos are put out primarily as vehicles for drawing in paying students.

When I first started to learn Tarot back in 1982, my teacher told me she never used card reversals because they made a reading too negative. She felt the upright cards held enough potential negativity by themselves without adding even more. It wasn’t until about 10 years ago that I finally learned the real value of reading reversals. I was then able to read with much more insight and depth!

I wonder about your Queen of cups interpretation having had a Queen of Swords Mother who was intolerant of emotions ..& I emphasize intolerant.
how do we reckon with these interpretations of personality?… of the court cards ? I find it so challenging …

Sir, recently started listening to your tarot lessons. They are indeed great. Sir, I find it tough to do reversals in the reading. What is your opinion . Also are there any vedios for people who find it tough to read reversals.

Hey John, thank you for the video and advice. While I do respect the Tarot and what it has to offer, I wonder to myself how it would handle ethically challenging questions. If one were so inclined, could they use this as a tool to do evil and get away with it? Or do you agree that there is no 'getting away' with evil? What are the consequences, in your opinion, of using the Tarot for extremely selfish and harmful reasons? I've heard you say in previous videos that 'there is no good or bad, only thinking makes it so' but I wholeheartedly disagree with that statement. Every fiber of my being tells me that it's wrong to harm our fellow humans and my instinct says that there could be good, perhaps profound philosophical and metaphysical reasons behind me feeling this way. What are your thoughts?

I'll come to this in Lesson 145, but if it's wrong to harm another human being, what about harming a guard at a concentration camp? Would that be evil?

Both are evil in my humble opinion. The prisoner, after being subjected to nefarious behaviour from the guard was to some extent forced to retaliate. This is the fundamental problem - violence brings forth more violence. Academics have talked about positive peace and negative peace. I am a believer in positive peace since the mere absence of violence (negative peace) is not sufficient when it comes to humanity as a whole developing more compassion, feminine values, empathy and diplomacy.
