    It never ceases to amaze me how often people don't understand catch and release fishing lol. Nice flatties mate, and great tips, I'll try to remember them next time I have a crack at the salt.

      Thanks mate! I think it's a matter of people who don't fish often and possibly don't catch fish when they do, they can't fathom throwing back a table fish.
      Not that I catch millions of fish, I just don't always have my Esky on me or have a realistic way to take a feed home sometimes 😅

    Didn’t know you can get flathead in that shallow area. I always go pass the area go close to the rock wall because I thought it’s too shallow for fishes to be there. Thanks for new tips!

      Definitely deep enough to find flathead mate! The largest flathead I've ever seen was caught in water less than knee deep 😮

    nice mate. i like how you have a different technique then the twitch twitch pause. will have to give your slower retrieve a go. thanks

      @jordythebassist  3 года назад

      Cheers mate 🙂 I do use the twitch-twitch pause technique as well but more when I'm throwing the 60mm Double Clutch in the local river for Bass and EPs. I use this style of retrieve because I want the Double Clutch to get down as deep as possible. It took me a bit of figuring out to find what retrieve was needed for that.

      @jordythebassist  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey mate, I just use the standard hooks they come with. I think they're about a size 8 treble hook.

    Hey mate thanks for the tips!Got my first flathead on the 95mm ghost perch but saw a few flatties following it but they just won’t strike,any tips to get them to strike?

    • @jordythebassist
      @jordythebassist  2 года назад

      Well done mate! Flatties love the pause, so try to limit how much you twitch it as they follow it in. You may need a slight twitch to prompt them to bite but don't pull it away too fast.

    • @jzfishing103
      @jzfishing103 2 года назад +1

      @@jordythebassist so don’t twitch too hard and longer pause?

    • @jordythebassist
      @jordythebassist  2 года назад

      @@jzfishing103 correct, kinda like with the soft plastic. They usually like to grab it when it has stopped moving, that's why I have a long pull with the land based technique using the Double Clutch. The long pull gets it down deep, when I slowly retrieve the slack line just before the next pull is when they smash it because the lure is stationary at that moment. If the fish has followed it in and you can see it, you want to try stop it dead as he comes in on it to eat it.

    How can you tell when you got a hit?

    • @jordythebassist
      @jordythebassist  2 года назад

      You will see the line suddenly start to pull tight, or you will feel the extra weight when you try to do a long pull on the retrieve.

      @@jordythebassist Neat. I'm on the opposite side of the planet in Canada. Most of the fishing I do is fresh water since there is lakes everywhere here and I'm like 24 hour drive to the ocean. lol Always interesting watching people fish in other parts of the world. I like watching this other channel too called "Fisherman's Life" cause he fishes on the coast in California, USA.
      Can't wait to see what you fish up next. :)

      I'd love to fish Canada for the Salmon! I've just gotten into doing more freshwater fishing in the last 6 months or so and Canada has some awesome streams and rivers, I'm a bit jealous about that hahaha.
      I'm going on a huge offshore trip tonight, we're chasing swordfish off an area called Lakes Entrance. If we find one it's probably going to be huge so here's to hoping that I manage some good footage of it!!

    • @jordythebassist

      Hey mate, I'm not sure to be honest but I would guess no more than 2.5m at it's deepest in the little gutter in front of me

  • @ssdc2
    @ssdc2 3 года назад

    What is the technique for retrieving here? Letting it sink to the bottom, dragging along the bottom, and winding in the excess line?

      Sorry, typed that a bit early, I see you go into detail around 5:00. Cheers!

    • @jordythebassist
      @jordythebassist  3 года назад

      No worries mate, I also go into it a bit around 1:45 as well. Long, slow pulls of the rod get it diving down deep but also pause the lure which is when it usually gets grabbed by the fish. Both fish I catch in this vid did exactly that 🙂
