You just made my day. I finally understand how to use euler's method on the sir model, which I really need for my project for school. So well explained, THX.
For this video, we made up all of the values. Our understanding is that these values are usually estimated empirically, rather than coming from an equation.
The transmission coefficient is something that would need to be generated from data for a particular disease. In this case, we selected the value of a to be 0.0002 to generate useable data so we could illustrate the concept.
Thank you for the awesome explanation. I wanted to confirm. Is someone able to graph these differential equations directly or they use Euler's method to estimate the graphs and that it is how these graphs appear?
Some types of differential equations (like y=y') have explicit solutions and can be graphed directly. However, some of these explicit solutions are a little complicated, so not easily graphed by hand. And many types of differential equations are graphed using slope fields, which are best left to a computer for the graphing.

If I get a good grade on my Math IA I'll go and personally thank you
Damn, why don't you have more subscribers? this was way too easy to follow.
Great video! Thanks!
Please tell me the equation you uesd to estimate Transmission rate
I use daily data for 3 years
And I don't know the equation used to estimate alpha

how value of α is 0.0002 ? is there any formula or from where its taken?

@@calcvideos thank you the clarification
Transmission co-efficient α=0.0002 is assumed??
