biggest thing with disarms is knowing your movements and not telegraphing them, there is a disarm I like to use in training that knocks the back of the wrist hard enough to make them drop the weapon, however it's still risky if done wrong, always keep in mind a few things, move out of the way of the barrel, keep close distance, control the weapon, be ready for the weapon to go off

He then proceeded to break the trigger finger of the hand with the gun in it in order to get it away from him (If I'm remembering correctly. I haven't seen it in forever). I think I'll stick with that technique.

The reality is, once both parties have hands on the gun it is largely about who is the better wrestler. That said, I’m of the opinion that it is worth grabbing the barrel of the gun. If a shot is fired and you are gripping the slide down on the barrel, the gun will be knocked out of battery and won’t fire again until the slide is cocked back. Furthermore, if the slide happens to pull back at all as you grab it then the gun won’t be able to fire at all.
Wouldnt you want to not put your hands up until youre ready to move to disarm or draw? I mean every case is different but I would think it would be better to make a swift movement when youre expected to move like putting your hands up, rather than be held up and then try to make a quick movement when they dont want you to be moving
You have to be very fast, and when you grab the wrist or gun it must be a death grip because if it is not the assailant will pull back and your dead! All gun disarmaments are dependent on the assailant being close. A smart gun holder will stay back away from your defense zone!

actually the only thing he got right was the reaction time although that's a little bit off. but anybody who's trained properly should be able to take the weapon 99.9% of the time. however using this method is more than likely going to get you killed. because you just knocked the weapon away from the target a little bit but the man still has the weapon and all he has to do is take a step back and kill you. you can grab the weapon with your hand and turn locking his finger in the trigger guard and pointing the gun at the man with the gun. you can shoot him with the gun with his own finger and if the safeties on you can then break his finger. it's very easy and you can probably find the video on RUclips that shows his method.
