- This video is the first part of the L 'eroica bike ride taken place over the weekend of April 14th and 15th, 2018 in Paso Robles, California. In this video I provide footage of the concours. In part 2, I will provide footage of the ride, rest stops and the finish celebration. The ride lived up to hype. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes cycling and enjoys organized rides.

Wow, so many neat bikes! Especially yours. It looks so pristine! So interesting looking at all the vintage components of the bikes in the show and seeing how they compare with today's.
Thank you! It's amazing how well the old Bianchi rides. I'm tempted to say it's one of the best riding bikes I own. The only complaint I have is the rear derailleur. For some reason it's not the best at shifting. The articulation isn't consistent between shifts. Meaning the distance the lever needs to move varies depending on where the derailleur is in relation to its range of motion. Otherwise, the bike floats over gravel and rough pavement better than my three other "road" bikes. The event was spectacular and certainly lives up to its reputation as being one of the best cycling events of the year. I highly recommend it.
Bianchi in orange? So weird, but looks awesome as well. What a beautiful bike!

Respect for those riders of old & nowadays who ride up steep hills (was that often the case during this ride I wonder?) on typically 52/42 cranksets & 12-25 cassettes.
Poor knees, mashing up instead of spinning.

I still have my Mavic SSC pedals, with Christophe nylon toe clips and Alfredo Binda toe straps. But, the only pair of cleated shoes I have are the one'e I barely used. Victoria fleece lined winter shoes. The cleats are on the bottom, but how do you ride those above 50 degrees? No socks? Imagine the smell after 130 miles at 70 degrees. I was on the Detto Pietro web site. They only make leather shoes for 180 Euros.
Eroica also in US? Didn't know that! When had been the first edition?
Hello Oltremare, this first L'Eroica in California started 4 years ago. In reading the news on the L'Eroica website the ride will be starting in Cambria, CA for the first time next year. For the past 4 years, the event was held in Paso Robles. I'm excited for the change, and looking forward to 2019.

Apart from the frame (and may be the headset) all other parts are non original at all. No a single piece is from a Bianchi from the 60s.

The MC was irritating as hell; he just wouldn't shut up! At one point, I turned down a couple of the PA monitors because it was impossible to have a conversation with anyone, with his constant yammering.
