- I do not play stego anymore. Not since upgrading to my current PC. They're just not challenging enough as a playable currently. Regardless, in an attempt to better understand why the walking tanks resort to camping and massive numbers, I finally decided to spend a week existing as a stegosaurus.

watching videos like yours and OwlTimes (my two favorite isle youtubers) makes me want to run little docu series of my own. i find myself narrating my own gameplay in my head. my computer is not good enough unfortunately, but it keeps me coming back to your videos. so it isn’t all bad!
ive been very happy to see you lean more into this style of video. it adds so much to the immersion that is so impactful in this game.

I used to play stego a lot, there is some magical feeling while migrating with your herd as those gentle giants
I used to play it almost exclusively before I got my new PC, now I don't mess with it

Glad to see a new video that's not the live stream style. I like this narrative style more. Your vocabulary tends to be much better than other The Isle content creators so the flow of the script is easier to understand. You're seriously up there with OwlTime to me. Great work and gameplay as usual man. I also like the details of saying things like the season is changing so the species will wait out the dry months until spring as a reason for the migration. Stuff like that is a nice touch.

i agree, Metta and OwlTime are the two Isle channels that I always come back to because of their narrative styles. I love the way they approach the game. It makes it feel even more real, and emphasizes the investment put into each dino. Amazing stuff.

Stego players must be bored out their MINDS playing that class lol, I could never.
Having played one for a week, absolutely. But I did find that if you're lonely and want to just hang out with people and chat, stego is the place to be. At least on Petits, they're all very friendly

honestly it‘s really easy to grow a stego, doesn‘t get hungry very quickly, so until you are adult u can afk 80% of the time. Once you‘re adult, you bully the entire server

I'm not big into stego gameplay at the current time, but sometimes it's really nice to slow down and just wander the island as a peaceful, lumbering herbivore!

Gosh I love Stegos. Could very well be my favorite herbivores with Anky. Thats why I think its so sad that its balanced the way it is, and is known for what its known for in the Isle. I think another large carnivore like Torbo or Allo could really help to balance them out as long as the devs figure out how to balance either one of them to the rest of the playable dinosaurs. Great vid!

Yeah, these days it's basically chat box and wander. Which is great for those who prefer doing so, but becomes very dull very fast as someone who thrives on action and challenge
It's in big part to the fact as Metta said in the video: There isn't really any big threats toward stegos especially when they are part of a huge herd and/or mixpacking
@@Sassafrass95 indeed. Acronym and I started a hunt on a solo sub steg the other day. He 4 called once. Next thing we knew, about 12 stegos appeared to defend bro against two dilos.
Was it necessary? No. A good stego in the swamp can handle a pair of dilos easily. Copies don't work there and dilo agility is horrible so its not crazy difficult to hit them if you understand their movement. But hey, why risk it when you can simply throw 12 tanks at the problem?
Now if we had been two rexes....

Quick little tip so you don't need to deal with that annoying recording box arrow, just press F10 in a replay to take everything away so that small arrow isn't making the whole scene look ugly. Haha

Never thought I'd find a wholesome stego story
As an animal, I find stegosaurus incredibly endearing. I may not love them in the isle in their current state, but that's more the fault of being added before they have proper predators than it is because they're a bad animal overall!
@dinometta they aren't even a bad animal. People are just dick heads. Im glad they can't fish for deinos as easily

Stego’s playstyle is my favorite- or at least it would be, if it wasn’t so overpowered. I love being squarely on defense and having slower-paced battles, but Stego’s so strong that any player that’s even remotely competent is practically invincible. That’s just not fun, IMO. Hoping Kentro and Rex help remedy this.
Yeah, I enjoy a good defensive strategy. But right now a competent stego is basically invincible unless a quad of skilled ceratos shows up.

I was laughing, I'd done a big blooper word stumble on the word stegosaurus on the first take and was still amused when I started the second one 🤣
This was all one growth cycle. I didn't die a single time. Things may not have all happened in the same order as an adult as in the video though simply because I moved back and forth between swamp and Highlands 5-6 times during gameplay
@@dinomettaoh ok that’s funny 🤣 I’m definitely not ready to make videos like yours with that kinda commentary, if I ever do which I don’t plan to. Yeah stego is just so tanky lol, Ive done the same thing with my compilations before, just rearrange the clips sometimes. How long would you say it took to travel from swamp to highlands and vice versa, and how much food would you risk on those trips? Trying to grow every creature at least once and I haven’t done stego yet lol
@@dtbrex08 oh it probably took about 20-30 minutes of walking/running to 60% stam and regaining to get there each time
I'd always recommend having full food, but I traveled on fresh spawn levels and grazing fairly often too without trouble
@@dinomettalate reply but after coincidentally (or not?) growing a stego the past 2 days I was thinking the exact same thing lol, at about 55% grown it took me about 25 minutes I’d say off the top of my head to get to highlands from swamp and probably lost about a third of food if not more getting there, suprisingly though I enjoy even the chill playables playstyles so as long as I’m moving on stego and interacting with others I’m having fun with it 🤣
i want to get back into playing stego again. i miss being the thing to adopt all the others. unfortunately the last update killed my framerate and im finding it hard to play solo now because of it
That's so unfortunate :/ did you try turning down your render distance? Also Punchpacket mentioned something about simply going into settings and hitting "apply" each time you join a server having the odd effect of increasing performance in some cases. Hopefully you can get it figured out :[
yeah i've turned everything down. ill give the clicking apply thing a go though. first time hearing about that. hopefully it helps!

Only when they're young. But also a stego with 0 stamina in this patch is as good as dead since they become essentially defenseless
Honestly surprised you don't play realism servers considering it seems you like to roleplay a bit
I struggle to follow lots of rules for realism servers. Petits low rules are enough to keep me happy

As much as i like stegos just to have that big herbivore on the roster (for now) I cant play it too much for myself. Too slow for me esp when there are migrations that are far🤣

It's a scientific fact! Stegosaurus was believed to be one of the least intelligent dinosaurs due to their tiny head/brain size relative to their body mass!

Bruh, stego needs a buff, no way shoulr a solo utah be so unhittable that ur forced to only use bites against it💀 people say stegos are op when they really arent agility can be just as op as being tanky and doing alot of damage, a solo utah should not be able to overwhelm a stego that badly with just running in circles, same for that solo cera near the lake, they needa buff stego or make its attacks move quicker so u require more precision and require a pack to take one down
Yeah, that pack of 5 had me essentially stuck there for 20 minutes minimum. I only killed 1 of them in that time. With patience and had those other stegos not shown up, they would have eventually killed me simply because I would have died of dehydration. I couldn't walk away because walking as a stego after being pounced does 3x blood loss or something like that. I understand now why they panic and they camp when they come under attack.
A solo raptor is one thing, you can bite it to death before it can bite you to death, but a pack of even 3 decent raptors becomes dangerous if you don't have easy access to water to patiently aim your swings
Jaded Warrior video stage shame you guys made really good videos before this is not how the game is played
Nah man, not staged, simply recognizing my friend's skin and making the conscious choice based on my knowledge of his fighting style to bite back instead of risking missed swings and giving him free hits.
I was yellow health at the end of that fight, not in any real danger of dying despite choosing not to start swinging until after he pounced me. Can't say the same for his health when he made the choice to walk away.
It's a survival game, we all make choices based on our survival. I know enough about stego to not fear a bite fighting raptor AND to know that missed swings give bite fighters a perfect opportunity for free hits. There's no such thing as a free bite when the stego chooses to bite back.
Yeah idk why people suffer the grow times of stego or denio. The two most boring experiences in the isle ever. And now with random spawms and an absolutely ludicrous swamp expansion makes it that much worse
Stego especially I just can't with. Deino gets some action sometimes, but overall it's a lot of just sitting

If I were to play stego more often, I'd grow to about 40% and then restart. Above there is when people decide you're not worth the effort to hunt
