That is so bad of the council and police to do this.. What is the world coming to!!! The police are well known to be bullies. Why cant they catch real criminals there's a lot out there isnt there including dangerous ones. The police department should make better use of their resources and put their officers somewhere else like major townns and cities thats where the real crime is. There's no such thing as a 'police department' in England, or in any other country of the UK: here the police force of a particular area is called a constabulary.
It is interesting that the council get private personal security provided by the tax payer! Also, he is not selling he is not a trader, donations only! The police are also supposed to be impartial, however they were probing for his personal details and basically enforcing for the council. The lady was a heartless and soulless individual, perfect council empleyee

It is now owned by The Crown but managed by English Heritage. The surrounding land is owned by The National Trust. . In the 19th century apparently someone said the solitude of the place was spoilt by the sound of constant chipping as people collected pieces as souvenirs! The money you pay is for security and conservation of the World Heritage Site. You can get in for free if you’re a member of English Heritage or The National Trust.
The last time I went it was £12.50 to get in to look at the stones and that was over a decade ago. I parked up off the road and ran to the chain link fence to look at them from the road and security chased me away!!

You need to check if that road is private, and if it is then not council owned so they can’t do a thing. Or do find some private land and ask owners permission and park up there. Horrendous that they’re going after such an elderly man. Hope he’s okay.

I've got a few neclaces from this road couldn't find the strawberry's man unfortunately drove around looking all day. It's a shame the council doesn't work with them to make something happen legally. At the end of the day, they dont stop regular visitors they always go visitor centres first anyway, so the henge owners dont lose out.
I'm disgusted with the behaviour of the Council here. Chris the stick man definitely cannot claim any money because he does not have a fixed abode. That's uk for you. He only wants little donations toward his food etc.
Why can't he claim a pension? Plenty of people who live full time on narrow boats have no fixed abode but are still entitled to benefits? Some even get assistance to pay mooring fees in the form of housing benefits. Every pancake has two sides.
I’ve been fortunate enough to of met Chris (stickman) a few times while staying up Stonehenge myself, he’s a great guy and harmless, I hope he will still be there at the end of August on my next trip, so I can give him a donation without taking a stick and bring him a food and water parcel. I do agree that Chris the Stick man should be allowed to continue as he isnt causing an environmental Harm and adds to the flavour of Stonehenge. I do agree that the icecream van and stawberries should need to get a license as otherwise the area would be inundated with icecream vans which will just be a blot on the landscape. But Chris should be allowed 100%. But isnt it obvious that english heritage wants to make maximum money supplying food etc to the people. I think this is a huge oversight by the council regarding Chris if he lived in sticks and bricks he would probably be in a care home costing the taxpayer money and all he’s doing is keeping his independence and raising funds to feed himself and run the van the local council should be supporting him and helping him just by leaving him be, if anything they Should be encouraging him not trying to stop him, his lifestyle prevents him from being lonely and he keeps fit because he’s out and about, The world gone mad,
I have no problem with traders but obviously get a licence, its a free park up with potholes caused by heavy trucks - can you imagine if they allowed trading down the Drove, seriously move on anywhere else to trade, with a licence, selling food obvious licence required.

You need to check if that road is private, and if it is then not council owned so they can’t do a thing. Or do find some private land and ask owners permission and park up there.

Any prosecution must be in the public interest, determining factors against the public interest test include: If prosecution is likely to have a detrimental effect on the offenders physical or mental health, always bearing in mind the seriousness of the offence. Any prosecution against Chris the Stick Man is clearly against the public interest. The council has a legal duty to consider the views of anyone affected by the offence, maybe anyone who donated, or wanted to donate, to Chris could make their views known to the Council that any prosecution was in their opinion against the public interest based on the detriment affect any prosecution would have on Chris. If all the vanlifers on RUclips publicised this along with the council trading standards email address, enough people could make a difference, Chris could make a FOI request for the emails and numbers of people in suport and use it as evidence should the council jobsworths decide to take him to court, a further publication of the court date and address could have a large number of vans, vanlifers, and supporters attend court to evidence the large number of people who believe this case is not in the public interest, local media would be interested too. If they take him to court he wouldn’t need to make an FOI request, due process requires they submit any info the defendant needs and requests. FOI is more for non court civil matters and requiring info not freely given or directly in the public domain.

I've got a few neclaces from this road couldn't find the strawberry's man unfortunately drove around looking all day. It's a shame the council doesn't work with them to make something happen legally. At the end of the day, they dont stop regular visitors they always go visitor centres first anyway, so the henge owners dont lose out.

Why can't he claim a pension? Plenty of people who live full time on narrow boats have no fixed abode but are still entitled to benefits? Some even get assistance to pay mooring fees in the form of housing benefits. Every pancake has two sides.

Council are public servants and can be personally held accountable because the council is a cooperation and can't find the public they work for. Look into it and tell them people selling stuff 👍💚💛❤️

I do agree that Chris the Stick man should be allowed to continue as he isnt causing an environmental Harm and adds to the flavour of Stonehenge. I do agree that the icecream van and stawberries should need to get a license as otherwise the area would be inundated with icecream vans which will just be a blot on the landscape. But Chris should be allowed 100%. But isnt it obvious that english heritage wants to make maximum money supplying food etc to the people. The authorities and police though, out in force when there is an easy arrest but run away from proper criminal activity. Justice for character Chris long live him 🙏✨

I think this is a huge oversight by the council regarding Chris if he lived in sticks and bricks he would probably be in a care home costing the taxpayer money and all he’s doing is keeping his independence and raising funds to feed himself and run the van the local council should be supporting him and helping him just by leaving him be, if anything they Should be encouraging him not trying to stop him, his lifestyle prevents him from being lonely and he keeps fit because he’s out and about,

I have no problem with traders but obviously get a licence, its a free park up with potholes caused by heavy trucks - can you imagine if they allowed trading down the Drove, seriously move on anywhere else to trade, with a licence, selling food obvious licence required.
