Boy, you need to see Trap again. M Knight gave us the twistless plot from the trailers. We know who the Butcher is. First scenes: first of 4,628 improbabilities. Jamie tells Cooper about the trap. Hartnett shines as his over the top performance shifts from doting daddy hugging and loving his daughter to shrewd and menacing killer. He’s so affable and resourceful we’re rooting for him. Hartnett said M Knight wanted the film to be entertaining and hilarious. It is if you pick up the premise: it’s a spoof of the cat and mouse serial killer thriller. It’s delightfully fun. And by the way Cooper is not played by Justin Hartnett. His name is Josh Hartnett. Jeezuz.
To me the movie was great coz just like old superman and batman comics, the butcher has his own history like his inhuman strength in addition to it he's got the brains which separates him from normal psycho. Also for crying out loud he's a legend like jack the ripper so what did you expect. Mass murders justify the 3000 men stop
To be honest would have love a twist in which the family knew about his killings instead of the wife being the reason he got caught. I really liked Josh’s acting he played such a good Butcher that I felt his stressed and anxiety in each situation.
I said this. Only was thinking maybe the wife was his accomplice in helping him drug the victims and cutting them up. Really thought it was gonna turn there lol
I'm so glad to see Josh Hartnett in a leading role again. He had so much charisma, and a sweet relationship with his daughter, that you couldn't help but side with him, despite him being the clear baddie.
i loved josh hartnett in this movie. whenever i thought his acting was strange, i understood it was on purpose, his character isn't a normal guy and he didn't quite know how to naturally interact with other people, especially when he was so on edge. brilliant acting.
I liked the idea a lot, was expecting the concert to last longer, and to see him try other solutions and spreading mayhem along the way. The parts outside the concert were good and intense, but yeah some of it felt weird. The bathroom scene I agree with you, I was expecting him to go rage mode and kick down the door and make them all hostages. Knowing m. night shyamalan, I was expecting a huge twist like, the girl is the butcher, or the whole family was in on it. It wasn't a great twist that the wife knew, would be better if the daughter did it actually. We don't spend enough time with the wife on screen to care. Anyway I give it a 6.5/10
OMG this is exactly how I feel!!! I was like the movie it’s s good and I recommend it but there was literally no twist like us finding out it was the wife who set him up was just a plot point 😩😩 I was totally expecting her to say “I told you not to get caught” I was disappointed
If the wife suspected, it makes no sense that the best she could think to do was leave a ticket for the police to find. Maybe phone in an anonymous tip, lady, instead of letting the man you suspect of being a psychotic killer drive off with your child into a trap that could turn into a bloodbath.
I thought the twist would be that the pop star was the actual butcher and created cooper in her mind as a sort of escapism for what she did or somthing like the family was in on it
I only liked one scene when he had pie with his wife! Until - she drugged him, and he snapped out of it so quickly!! No freaking way. Then the part where he got the spoke out of the bike wheel so fast, ya right.
This movie was ridiculously bad. The wife leaves ticket stubs to a concert as a clue so the FBI creates a concert that he already has tickets to as a trap?! Lady Raven does a livevstream instead of calling 911?! He's unstoppable after being drugged and tazed, he takes out a cop and they still won't shoot him?! Someone make it make sense!!
i thought the bathroom scene was ridiculous as well but she didn't know where the house was where Spencer was captured. Calling the cops would've gotten them to Coopers house but wouldn't have saved spencers life.
Makes no sense there’s no way the fbi would go through all that and they don’t even know what he looks like and why wouldn’t the wife give a better tip than that if she knows it’s him and if they don’t kno who he is why not just leave I don’t get this movie
@@RRyDaa they told us the entire movie they didn't know what he looked like but that the woman in charge of the operation was a master profiler, which is why the plan was to stop every man. Also the wife wasn't sure, she thought he was cheating and gave the tip to hopefully prove him innocent of being the butcher. Obviously the concept is farfetched but you need to suspend reality in movies because they aren't real.
Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it but understand the flaws and general bits which were unbelievable. Enjoyed the scenes where it's closing in on him and his quick wits and thinking on his feet to stay one step ahead etc. Enjoyable enough if its taken for what it is and suspension of disbelief is in abundance
This movie was fantastic. I don't know, but I felt as if there were so much left unsaid at the end the ending was fantastic. I love this movie. He is such a fun character. I found myself rooting for him... and I was ashamed of it. I still think... he is not the butcher.. he was protecting her, I do think he is a closeted gay man with extremely smart. Now that I said this.. watch the movie again.
The way you all don't understand how psychopaths operate in regards to how they have been able to get away from authories for years. Also, the concert was already planned. Lady Raven has a savior complex hence she volunteered to go to their house. Yall wanted a predictable end and was mad that you didn't get that. But would have still complained if it was predictable..
As a M Night fan I wanted this to be good and hoped for a great twist which I didn't get. Honestly, the unbelievable bits do make it feel like a different universe...and that's exactly what I was hoping for, is this the beginning of a spinoff from Glass a universe of monstrous villains and hopefully super heroes? There was something about the way he Butcher looked at Raven with her inhaler, I'm hoping we're not done yet because Josh was good.
As if anything in this poorly written turkey needed explaining. (Moves a box of t-shirts that weighs all of 20 lbs.) "Dude! You strong." (Tells the vendor he's a Fireman and is about to shown an iPhone photo) "You're not squeamish are you?" (Sees a trapdoor conveniently located by their floor seats) "Hey why don't we go down there and see where it leads?" And other phrases you'd hear from fellow Martians...Shyamalan's next project will be a film version of The Tay Bridge Disaster poem by William McGonagall if Trap is any indication of how badly off the rails his writing has become.
2 minutes and 11 seconds into this video and I'm confused. Lol. I haven't seen this movie cuz I gave up on M. Night years ago. And I gave up on him because his movies after the village (with exception to unbreakable and ONLY unbreakable) became so weird, convoluted and confusing I just couldn't watch anymore. Looks like nothing has really changed.
He was a whole crash out at the end i think it gonna be a second part of him trying to escape the police i dont think it needed a theater release it could have went straight to amazon or hulu😂 not worth seeing in the theaters
What how tbe last airbender movies bad ?they have the same story as the show same exact story line the show have more part cuz you know is in episode but the show play same as the movie so i guess the show was bad also?
I truly hate to be that guy, but I absolutely loved this movie I love the soundtrack I love the mini twists I love Josh's performance and I thought this was an awesome movie this is one that I will definitely be playing in the background of my house. I'll defend it I got no problem with that this is one of the few that I hold to my heart Edit: I do notice that a lot of people are saying and are completely wrong that the cops set up this thing with her as a trap. But if you listen to the words that she says in the movie, she was already having a concert here the cops approached her whenever a couple weeks earlier the wife left the clue inside the house then they contacted her to use that concert as a trap. The concert was happening regardless
I actually thought the profiler was his real mom. and she has been aiding him who to kill and why. maybe all the victims were not randomly selected. they were people who maybe played a part in Josh's father's death. thats why he had to kill them. that would have given us that M Knight Shyamalan twist that we normally see on his other movies. however, I enjoyed the movie. I give it 4 out of 5. mainly because of Josh Hartnett's performance. Cast was superb.
Get your opinion on this film. I felt the same about the build up went on way too long. Josh was an amazing villain. Would love to see him in more. But thinking that the knock at the cabin was better than this…😢
The dialogue between people seemed off but the movie was great to me this isn’t something you have to think to deep about and at the end of the day it’s a MOVIE not real life I like the fact that he always find a way out
I was saying to my Mrs after watching the film, why is the signing parts so unnecessarily long . Googled the actress and find out with is a song writer and artist. Makes so much sense now as to why half the film was focused on her singing. The cynic in me believes this film was created to promote his daughter's career nothing more . and why was the concert during the day ?
What if “trap” is another part to the “split” saga and he is one of them superhero/villains cause he took them tazers like a monster and so smart and crazy
This is a terrible explanation of the movie, you're getting too many things wrong. Riley was Cooper's daughter, not his victim. At no point did Riley need to escape from him, that was Lady Raven, the pop singer. And the actor who plays Cooper is Josh, not Justin. RUclips has become a cesspool of cheap, so-called AI-created content that has absolutely no substance or value whatsoever.
Awful movie...the script is so clunky and poorly written. The twist used to be the one thing that stuck out. The wife should have been in on it... actually the whole family should have been in on it. That would have been a solid twist.
