Greetings from California. I bumped into this last night. What a beautiful area and scenery. I was near the Brighton area about a year ago. And you do artwork and baking too. How wonderful. Very nice. Stay well.
Thank you again for your video It helps to get through the monotony of this awful time Keep safe and keep up the good work you two are such a blessing to take us to places we can’t visit anymore Bless you

With family living and working in St.Ives I can enjoy the delights of this wonderful place frequently.Your video provides a delightful diversion during the lock-down period, thank you.
Hello again, Sarah and Andrew! A wonderful look around the town I know and love well. I have a signed copy of Mr Acton's 'A View From Trencrom' which I picked up in a charity shop about a year ago, and an unsigned copy of his 'A View From Carn Brea'. I am sorry he is no longer with us.
Arrrrr, I’ve just subscribed to you guys. Very much looking forward to my first visit to Cornwall in September. I shall not bother to visit St. Ives though, I don’t want a parking ticket. Sorry you got stung with that.
Hi just subscribed loving your vids. We can't get enough of Cornwall and are very envious you have lived there all your life. Brightened up our day during lockdown thanks
Absolutely love your channel. You really capture the feel of every place you visit. Perfect filming and information sharing, plus your joint humour is an added bonus. Well done keep up the excellent work with your channel 🌞
Thoroughly enjoyed your walk around St Ives. It is my favourite town in Cornwall and we spent three days there enjoying all those quaint back streets you showed so effectively. You also showed me many quaint places we missed when we were there. Thank you so much. Sorry about the parking ticket! Keep safe.
Hi Sarah and Andrew another most enjoyable video in an area of Cornwall I’ve been to a few times before but not for nearly 20 years now so it’s going to be one for my bucket list I’m sorry you got a parking ticket though thank you for sharing your walk with us atb Glenn
AWW NO!!!!!!!What a shame, you had a parking ticket entertaining us all in lockdown. FANTASTIC bit of filming, having lived in Cornwall all my life the things that I did’t know about St Ives. A most enjoyable film with a backdrop you can’t fail with. 10/10 to you both. & THANK YOU
Love Bob Acton i have many of my Dad's books glad to see it here! The Digey is pronounced " The Die-gee😊 as a native it's amazing how many different versions i've heard! Also you walked right past the famous dance hall opposite Barbara Hepworth house, it still has the same public looking frontage and was said to have the best sprung floor in the west! Then it became a storage place for Barbara Hepworth's sculptures, guess what it is now.... Flats... Please visitors and second home owners stay away, until the pandemic is truly over then St Ives will welcome you back. Thank you.
We have found that you can travel less than 20 miles away from your 'local' area and the accents and pronunciations are totally different! A wealth of info - thanks for sharing! Sarah :)
Great informative video. I love St Ives and been quite a few times. Wish I had heard of that book as I would have done the same as you both. Just a tip for family's with kids (or adults that are kids). I had to pause this video at 2:52 for that gorgeous view of St Ives, but if you look at the right hand side, just past the lighthouse and you can see a rock sticking out of the sea? Well between the lighthouse and that rock are some fantastic rock pools with loads of life in them to look at when the tide is out. I found them at the end of my holiday and I can't wait to go back and explore them further. So Great video and loads of things I never knew. The first time we stayed there was in a street called Teetotal Street which I think they had to rename after we stayed there 🤣 🤣 🤣 .
Andrew is so naughty - 'a load of rubbish'! Lovely video packed with information and history, and the light and colour of St Ives was amazing as usual. Bad luck about the parking ticket though! Thank you
I was in St Ives that weekend and then moved on to Padstow midweek. It was a bit surreal as we knew that the Corona virus was taking hold. I have being visiting St Ives since 1976 and it has suffered change far less then many places. I do miss The Hobblers restaurant that used to be on the Harbourside though. Parking just gets worse and they have now moved the park and ride to St Earth. Your video is great and I agree with you about the Barbara Hepworth sculptures Andrew, sorry. The Newlyn school of impressionism is more my thing. I love Fore Street and the Harbour, I love it all really. Keep up the good work and thanks.
Great video of beautiful St Ives. I got lost at exactly the same place! Must be a problem with the directions, but as you know I'm a big Bob Acton fan, he takes you to places other walk books don't. In the same book there's a fantastic walk round Hayle, which I'd always thought of as not a particularly attractive town, but his walks really bring such places to life! Many thanks.
Thanks for the info about Hayle walk - Hayle is so close but so far away! I think we will do more from this book in due course! We really enjoyed the walk around St Ives, Sarah :)
Our pleasure! I hope you get back to St Ives soon. You may enjoy our virtual walk, its been very popular! ruclips.net/video/PoDCErezRHM/видео.html Sarah :)
A windy day in St Ives .... I didn't expect it to be such a big city! You walked past a huge pile of creels near the end, so St Ives must have a considerable lobster fishing fleet. Did you taste one of the cute beasts? ;-)
Oh sorry you got a ticket in pursuit of exploring St Ives. Thanks for an historic tour of the town. Weird to see it busy and this only filmed 7 weeks ago.
Brilliant Video...Thanks..Look fwd to many more..we try get down there every year. It's the Jewel in the Crown for sure. We have family who live in Draycot Terrace Overlooks the Pier from where it sits. Johnny & Sharon.
Very enjoyable! Sorry u got a fine, if ur having fun time passes so fast & stressful 2 worry about a costly deadline. So much better if u could pay when u leave the car parks. No rushing then. Great video, looking fwd 2 seeing more!
That was really well done. I thought it was going to be cheesy but it was really nice. Thank you. I now must see St. Ives. Can you elaborate on the title of the book. I checked eBay and Amazon but without the exact title - cannot locate it. Cheers and many thanks indeed.
Oh Blimey! Really! That's bonkers! Well perhaps we had better look after the copies we have got! We have a lot of Bob Acton books, with various titles. Sarah :)
Rather appropriate sign as you came out of the Parish Church Sarah.....a shop called Heavenly!! I think what Andrew was heard to mutter after finding the parking ticket, was a little less than heavenly though! I do sympathise, we have run out of time in car parks in the past too! It just makes the walk a bit costly :-(( Worth it for seeing another side to St. Ives around the back streets. Hope you have a few more vids stored up for the next few weeks to put on line. As always, keep safe. xx J xx
You were lucky to get a station car parking space. We use stennack car park. Love st ives ... we try and go at least once a year .... hope to this year. Thank you for sharing your visit. Ps if you pay for parking online you can add time on so you dont have to rush back. Oh no ticket!
Saw you both on video on Hayle sand . Years ago now the council took lots of sand off the beach there for building etc. I wanted to see old chalets on towans. I was horrified when you came to the sign that said 7400 or more STEPS ??? When we were in Hayle as kids we just went down a sandy slope to the beach. Xx
A few years ago I was working in a shop on Fore St in St Ives when this posh London family came in and asked what life was really like living in St Ives because they were planning on moving down. I looked at them straight in the face and said "Drink and drugs!" They laughed, thinking I was joking. When they realised I wasn't, they said "But it doesn't say anything about that in the brochures!" Its wonderful that people who work hard and pay extortionate prices should experience all the good of St Ives, but its such a different world when you live there. Most crimes don't get reported because the Police want to keep crime figures low to keep attracting the wealthy second home owner market.
Common to most places, just in differing levels! The Cornish Tourist Board does an impressive job, promoting the idyllic side of Cornwall, maybe glossing over the less desirable side - have you seen 'Bait'? Sarah :)
Thank you for taking me back to beautiful St. Ives. Thank you! I have stayed there 4 times for several nights at the time. We saw both sides of the peninsula West Penwith from there. I actually have both Godrevy Lighthouse and St. Michael's Mount on the same photo ;-)
Hi Torunn, beautiful place with lots of interesting back streets that we find it was really easy to get lost in! Shame about Norway, but typical of the lazy Cornish! Trencrom is definitely on the list to do - we will keep walking until we run out of walks!! Sarah :)
