- Mr Time, or the Coclock, is the sleepy little TOMY robot with a clock in it's head. It slumbers until it's time and then wakes up with a vigor.

Thanks for a helpful video! I just finished repairing my sister's from when we were kids. I also had the one minus contact broken off the brass plate, but then I didn't get where a further problem was with the handwaving mechanism. Turns out the smaller motor had totally mucked up polarity flipping rotor contacts inside, so I cleaned them. Only then I accidentally put it back together 180 degrees reversed, which meant the motor turned the other way... Took some headscratching before I realized that. :D
I did the same thing to a DingBot motor once and could not figure out what was going on.
@@RandiRain I must have taken apart at least a dozen of these motors when I was a kid, I was always a salvager and tinkerer, but I never tried to do this particular thing on purpose and never noticed the effect. :D Funny thing is the casing isn't even designed in any way that would stop you from reassembling it wrong.
Amazing how much complexity is hidden behind some that have simple looking exterior. Amazing videos. Thanks so much. All the best.
Wake me up like that and Mr. Time would turn into Mr. Flat as a Dime.
But you would be awake!!
Those things would startle the sh!t out of anyone in the morning.
omg I can't believe how complicated it was inside lol! I was shocked to see such a small Tomy robot with two motors. Way more complex than I could have ever imagined, especially for a chubby little robot who's so lazy. They both came out great ~ And after watching this video I'm really impressed with how quiet the motor runs while he's sleeping too.
PS, thx again =)
It's made different, but really just like the Robie bank. You push a button which turns on the motor. The mechanism turns itself on so the button can be lifted. It goes until it kills itself. The clock just has a switch on it for the alarm that does the same thing as pushing the button.
As for the quiet sleeping... That's probably why they went with the fine tooth gears. They are quieter.
Thanks for the CoClock.
I think being woken up everyday by that robot would be the stuff of nightmares!
But you would be awake...
I want to pick up a broken one and try rewiring it so the sleep mode is well ... for when you hit the button for snooze. Thats if the clock can do that, if not, much bodgery may be done.
Also on the PUSH switch I had to add some small springs to get the fecker to reset right.
I've learned when fixing analog alarm clocks. Set all the hands to 12 before removing them. And don't power it up til replacing all the hands at 12 again. Otherwise it's nearly impossible to sync the time hands with the alarm hand. The alarm always ends up inaccurate.
Yeah, all 12 works for the time hands, but I did have the problem of the alarm. What I did was turn the alarm hand until it went off. Then pulled out the batteries, took the thing all apart again, and then put everything at 12. That seemed to work.
Aurex was the premium line of Toshiba audio product , maybe the robot was a promotionnal item
Interesting. There are Aurex clocks and watches out there. I think they just licenced the Tomy one at some point.
I immediately thought of Toshiba's Aurex audio line, I remembered from Techmoan (he did a video of one of their incredibly disappointing products)
We can put a man on the moon, but we still embed analog clocks in the heads of our robot servants. Sad :-)
If it's not broken...
@@RandiRain Hey, you're closing in on 5K subs!

Thank you. I liked this one.
You have impressive patience.
Not really. I've just done it many times. There was plenty of impatient moments getting here.
Great construction. Modular and easy to disassemble for repair. Thanks for the video! :) Ps: Loved the wrench.
