Despite what people think, Kmart had many good locations, it's why so many aren't sitting abandoned long- yeah, I know my childhood one in Cahokia still sits empty 27 years later now, but there's a Walmart like a quarter mile away, so nothing is going to want to compete with them (that's what killed that Kmart to begin with!).
👍 afternoon Wallie and Kayla, the rocks with the eyes on them rocks my guess is the employees were sad about Kmart closing, I miss Kmart, 👍 📹, have a KMART vilisous and Merry 🎄 to you Wallie and Kayla and 👪, thank you for KMART 📹, Delores Jordan
Sears/KMart were the titans of retail for the longest time, shame this is no longer the case. I miss the Sears that was at my Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH. I used to do layaway with them all the time with them and Toys R' Us. Sucks that layaway has gone the way of the dodo. Was the best way to get what you want while affording to pay the bills.
I used to frequent sears at the pheasant lane and Kmart turned sears essentials on the other side of Nashua when I used to live in Merrimack. Now I live in Northern NH and used to shop at a hometown store in Gorham.
This was my Kmart. It definitely went down hill towards the end, but it was still nice to have a place to shop close by. I felt bad for some of the individuals who lost their jobs. Some of them had worked there for as long as I can remember. Love you channel. Down the hill from there next to the Ollies. That was a Two Guys at one time. There was a Rickels hardware and the opposite end there was a Giant grocery store.
I miss my Kmart that closed in 2015. I lived literally right behind the store. Now it is a Farm and Home Supply. There is also another small section that used to be a part of Kmart but years ago they had a fire and that part has been closed since.
Loved the rocks. They were cool. Here in North Texas there was a thing for awhile of painting rocks then playing hide and seek with them. When you'd find one you'd take them somewhere else and post a pick to see who'd find it next. A friend of mine found one and took it to the restaurant we were fixing to eat at.
The run-down eyesore across the street from here was a TWO GUYS store originally, which competed with Kmart back in the 70's! They had already been here since 1962 (ironically, the year Kresge launched the first Kmart stores) but Kmart didn't come to this neighborhood until 1974. Most recently, the left third of the former Two Guys was a Giant (which had been a Pathmark in the 80's after Two Guys closed, but was sold to Giant in 1997) but that part of the building has been abandoned since 2005, ever since Giant moved to the former Phar-Mor store in Reading about a mile east of here!
Aside from Ollie's Is there any other stores in Shillington? Used to come here all the time with my Mom. We'd also go to the Weis Dollar Tree and Mark's TV Games
@@philliesphan9364 Not too much. I haven’t been out that way in a while. There is a shopping center not far from there called the Kenhorst shopping center. That’s put much a grocery store in there, pizza place, a Dairy Queen and a few other things.
I worked there in 2014 doing loss prevention, lotta people stealing from kmart To your extreme left from the front door was the electronics section, in the front corner. They also sold kitchen appliances, washers and dryers in that area. Caught a kid stealing display headphones there once. Further toward the back on the left side was kitchen wear, etc then outdoors/sporting/bike stuff toward the left back corner (edit: seeing the photos at the end, apparently they must have gotten rid of most of their electronics section because that looks way different). Middle section toward the left was mostly food/pantry items, right side of the store was mostly clothing and shoes.
Wallie, last time I've read it was 4 in VI, 1 in PR (our Plaza Las Américas mall location is still open with the pharmacy) and the 1 in GU, along with the 8-9 in Mainland US (1 still in the FL Keys). Supposedly (as a news item in November, 2021) those Mainland US locations would close by the end of this month, leaving the 6 Island locations as the only ones open in 2022.
Even going to an open Kmart is depressing. Other than the smell of flannel and rubber tires and seeing the signage, there isn't much left. Most of the remaining stores have large sections blocked off with very slim choices. Even as recently as early 2020, the liquidating stores then were in far better shape than the open ones now.
Reading rocks it’s a Facebook thing, people put decorated rock everywhere. The food store is an old Weis Market it moved down the road. That was my hometown K mark I was there at the end. The Manager said it’s 5 o’clock and your Shillington K mart is closed for the final time. Thanks trasformco.
Do the Kmart on 5th Street Highway Reading PA right across the street from the old Fairgrounds Square Mall. There’s and old Auto center in the left side with a door around the back that looks right into the sales floor
At least the positive is that unless the remaining Kmart's pull a Manhattan, and close without notice, all remaining stores will see Kmart's official 60th anniversary on March 1, 2022 (counting this one as official since it was the first Kmart built from the ground up). Whether or not they're liquidating then is another story.
Great video Wallie and you're right alot of the abandoned kmarts were demolished. Yeah id say you're right about the Kmart Foods because that's a late 60s to early 70s style Kmart almost a carbon copy of the one that once was in Seven Hills OH that was torn down for a new Meijer
Looking good Wallie can tell you've lost some weight too! Glad you're doing good and are happy with Kayla. Hope you guys have a great Christmas and Happy New Year too! Keep up the awesome videos 😎👍💓
The Kmart I went to as a kid had a grocer beside them like 3 other businesses with them.foodland was the last grocer there last as far as knew in independence mo.🥺
That was likely Kmart Food, because they didn't operate Kmart Food, another company did (sometimes even chains like Kroger), but the program used Kmart's name, and lasted into the 80's, and this style is a 70's/80's one, so I don't doubt this was a Kmart Foods.
So sad . Have you found in the last year or so there has been more businesses go out ? Where is your home base? Love watching the travels. Were located in grove city pa
The Kmart in ephrata pa is suppose to be becoming an amish owned store called goods and they sell stuff like Kmart sold its just owned by the amish and there also opening up an meninight grocery store called duchway market
Looked at transformco properties it would be nice if Fast Eddie would just sell the rights to Kmart there was at least 10+ Pennsylvania Kmart locations that theoretically could be reopened plus a distribution center. I see a Business opportunity. Only if I was a billionaire 😔
The rocks at the back are from a local Facebook group Berks County Rocks. Basically people hide these all over for others to find
You’re right.. it’s getting rare to find an abandoned Kmart. Just like finding an Kmart that is open.
🤣🤣🤣

The abandoned kmart in Joliet,IL is finally being renovated and they are turning it into Tony's grocery store and a planet fitness
Our local Kmart was exactly the same & it was a pick n save next to the Kmart, not a Kmart foods. Looked exactly the same though
the rocks as so cool...see Kmart isn't abandoned at all , the rock friends are ready to serve you as always enjoyed the video
Wallie and Kayla love you guys from penny from alabama 🎄☃️ have a great Christmas 🌲☃️💕 love you guys

At night the Kmart sign at the road is still lit up
Wallie your Hysterical hon...When Kayla talked about the SIGN...
Soooooooo FUNNY😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
I used to shop all the time when I was growing up. Live only five minutes away when I was a kid.
That store next door used to be a weis supermarket
I found myself smiling when you highlighted the rocks 🪨🥰

Hey WallieB26 and Kayla, there are still abandoned Kmarts still standing in Allentown PA yet.
What a cool find..like your vidow of Kmart.
I miss Kmart so much thanks for letting history NOT be forgotten
The K Mart by me is now a Hobby Lobby. Been closed for many years now. I'll cherish the last time I shopped there.
I used to frequent this when I was younger.. it actually had a pharmacy in it! Loved this Kmart!
Wow! Talk about "rockin out!"
Lol
Wow 👌 awesome
Good Video Wallie! I filmed this back in July.
Yep you did

You should check out the abandoned Kmart in Clementon NJ. Shop rite is moving in to it next year
Really? Where did you hear about ShopRite moving in?
@@tricountyretail992 my girlfriend’s mom works at the one down the street and told me last week.
@@fishingwithtommy_yt9056 That's surprising. I thought this would become another Big Lots, Ross, LIDL combination like the on in Glassboro.

As of December 23, 2021 there are six locations in the states. The other six are in the territories.
I like the whole intro look especially look @ the front were it says ames real big.
R.I.P All Kmarts That Closed In The Countries

Thanks for the Upload 👍 !! I can tell that was a Kmart by the stucco blocks on the outside !! Merry Christmas 🎄⛄ !! XD

Another old style Kmart.
Taking the sings down to clean them 🤣😂
Good video! So sad, to see all these Kmart stores going away!
Their is only 6 Kmart stores still open in the United States, sadly they will permanently close also.
I hope this should be a Micro Center.
Second Yayyyyyy another abandoned Kmart
Wallie, that would be a good fixer upper opportunity for you and Kayla. You could be business owners.

Yeah strange I just checked with Google again and it said December 1st 2021 27 locations still open
I miss KMart, where I live it’s Wallyworld is the only game in town, it’s there or nothing!
I’m pretty sure that this place turned into a ocean state job lot.
Did you get a good look at the empty Kmart in PENN PLAZA at the northern end of Reading, near the BOJANGLES that you made a video about?
Well the company's website said they were still 27 locations open I guess we need to go to them and Shop
Don't Let the Flame Die Out lol

I just received my Kmart t shirt that I ordered online.
I didn't know you had abandoned Kmart until 6 hours ago lol this Kmart is a 1970s when first open.
random, but i was looking at this place on google maps and the grocery outlet was not a kmart foods. always a grocery outlet
Shoot, we have an abandoned K Mart in Englewood, Ohio. Been empty for quite a while.
the super kmart in warren ohio is being demolished :(
