Herne Bay Storm 1949
This storm in March 1949 caused considerable damage along the East Coast including places such as London, Sheerness, Margate, Ramsgate, Southend, Whitstable & Kings Lynn. It was described as the worst flooding in 65 years & the total cost of damage was £500,000 at the time which is £16 million now.

I lived there from 1985 - 2016 & experienced awful weather, just goes to show how much better the town is, now the sea defence arm is in place on the seafront.
