Do you do KDP full-time?
Do I make the equivalent of a full time income with self-publishing books, yes.
That said, I don’t just publish on KDP. I publish wide, using aggregates like Draft2Digital. As I don’t like putting all my eggs in one basket.
I also bring in additional revenue from other areas of my business like coaching, courses, Merch by Amazon, etc.
To be clear, I don’t do these other things because I HAVE to, I do them because I love helping others as well as, since I have ADHD, my mind gets bored of just doing the same thing day in and day out.

@@KeithWheelerBooks How many books are you currently selling to make a full-time income? I’m currently writing my first book. 📕
Unfortunately, the answer to this is different based on each person's needs. I have a video on this, but basically, I price my books to make at least a $2 profit for each book sold. Then you calculate how much you need to make to replace your current income (and benefits).
Take this amount you NEED to make and Divide it by your average profit per book and this will give you an estimate as to how many books you'll need to sell to reach that threshold.
It's most likely going to seem like an astronomical number, but understand that this doesn't mean you have to sell that many of one book. As you publish more books and as your profit margin goes up, the amount of copies you'll need to sell will seem more and more doable.
My video goes into a bit more detail, but this is the gist of how to figure it out.
