very deep, clear and mostly "peaceful" review, liked it.
Yeah, definitely. :)
Just bought one today for 100€ (second hand) including the support and a pedal for my daughter. And we are blown away of the quality of sound.
She learned to play bohemian rhapsody today thx to some piano RUclips videos. But I am amazed of the key feeling. Also so many sounds and you can have a drum support. Totally worth the money. My daughter is happy, so I am happy. Thx for the great video review, it really made me look at this product! Thx
Thanks for your feedback! Great this worked for you.
Thanks for detailed and honest review; very useful! I'm looking for a starter keyboard for my teenage daughter (and for me) and this seems to be the one I'll go for. Couldn't find another velocity sensitive one in this price point. Thought about NP-12, but not sure, if she perseveres, so don't want to spend more than £100 for now.
Hi, thanks for watching! You can't go wrong with this one (for that price). The keys are a bit flimsy, but they're perfectly playable. I think velocity sensitivity is really important.
if you learn some jazz chords with the setting "Grand Piano", play a solid bass over it and then sit behind the drum, you have as good as won!
Great video, very well explained what's going on!
Thanks for watching! I'm not really a good player, so I tend to play slow stuff :) On the other hand, playing slow stuff is a stress test for keyboards because it exposes the quality of the samples and / or the loops. The Startone did surprisingly well here: The piano sound as a really nice, natural sounding sustain to it.
Thank you very much, I really liked the demo and you did a great job.
Thanks for watching!
How does it compare. to the Yamaha PSR E373? Build, key feel and sound?
I'm sorry, I can't say because I never had the Yamaha. Perhaps my viewers can answer this?
Nice and very helpfull review, thanks !
Hi, thanks for your video! When I connect my mk300 in ableton suite via MIDI, I can't record anything. But I see signal inputs in ableton. So the keyboard is sending signals to Ableton but I can't create a track. Do you think this is just a pure Ableton problem?
Hi, thanks for watching. I didn't use Ableton, but Cubase - and recording was no problem there. Maybe check you MIDI in settings and the channel you're sending on vs. the channel you're recording on.
Great honest review Floyd!
Thanks! This was my most successful videos for years (until the QY100 one last year).
Thank you very much Floyd, from France ! very useful to reveal that notes don't register if you play very piano....Good continuation !
Glad it was helpful! And thanks for watching! :-)

Yeah, on teenage parties, there was always that guy who'd play the piano if there was one, impressing all the non-male audience. ;-)
@@mr_floydst Well, that's exactly what I'm aiming for. Playing in front of friends...and hopefully amaze some girls. :-D Wouldn't mind if that happened.
@@JohnDoe-jz7bj :)
Thanks for your review, I found it very complete and instructive, I'm about to buy this keyboard because I'm learning and your video was very interesting to me, thanks and Igive you my thumbsup
Edit: do you know if it has one or more like church pipe organ sounds or voices? Maibe it's an obvious question, but I didn't find the list of sounds anywhere and I just want to know, thanks mate
Good review, thank you.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Hey, i want to do some ambient stuff, this could be a good keyboard for that? can i record ambient sounds on my computer?
Hey, thanks for watching. I'd say "it depends". If you already have a good reverb pedal or plugin, yes. Otherwise, I'd suggest buying a good reverb pedal or -plugin. See my other video ruclips.net/video/9mr7R1AzgdE/видео.html for Details.
Thank you so much. Amazing music!
thanks so much for this review,I think I'm going to buy this keyboard and i´m looking for information in internet but only i find a test in a german web site , my english is poor but my german is dreadful :)
my english also is very poor - pero mi alemán tiene que ser a lo menos "bién" porque native. J-A - estoy ya comprandome un MK-300 - si te interesa.
Is the midi-function any good? I've read the midi-function of the Casio CTK-3500 (similar keyboard, at about same price-point) doesn't really work with midi as it's poorly synced!
Hi, thanks for watching! I think it's fine. 4:49 was sequenced in Cubase and recorded from the stereo output.
@@mr_floydst Thanks for the quick response Floyd (I guess you're german, just like me?)
Mhm.. still can't decide between this one or the Casio CTK-3500 what's your opinion on the two in comparison?
What I look for is:
A keyboard for working out some melodies! I won't take it to the stage, but record midi with it, or just jam along on the keyboard. So a good keyboard (in sense of: good keys on the keyboard) is what I look for the most. I'd love weighted keys, but I guess within my budget of max. 150€ I won't find it and can be happy that these have dynamic keys at least.
Or should I go used keyboard?
Thankful for any advice and tipp! :-)
(Ja, bin ich - aber irgendwie gucken die meisten Leute in den Vereinigten Staaten zu, daher englisch ;-)) The keyboard on this is servicable, but definitely not great. I think a used Korg X5D may be your thing - great sounds, good keybed! www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/verkaufe-korg-x5/1106769316-74-2457
@@mr_floydst I guess the Korg X5 will also do? As far as I can see the only difference is that the X5 has 32-polyphony, whilst the X5D offers 64-polyphony.
Thank you very much, I think I'll take a closer look at the Korg X5. All the best wishes to you!
I already have a piano in my house, but im studying in the city and I dont want to stop playing/practising , what would you recomend me, it haves to be something I can bring with me on the train, and I really dont want to loose or get my ear perception or music distorsed. (Sorry I dont know much of musical terminology in english, not my mother languaje) I've seen this keyboard is cheap but does the sound change with time?
hey, thanks for watching! maybe have a look at the reface cp. its portable with mini keys. great sound and yout can get it used for around 200.
Alex S. thanks for the fast reply! but what im interested is in something bigger where to practice romantic pieces I know I should get a "real" piano but I really cant bring my piano to my flat ;-; (sorry)
I think you shouldn't buy this one because you're not a beginner. The keys of the startone are very flimsy. I think the Yamaha MX series is worth a look, there are very good piano sounds on them and the keys are much better than on this one.
Alex S. Thank you so much!
Hey, great video!
Does this keyboard have aftertouch? It sounded as if the sound did persist for a bit after the finger is lifted, did it?
Thanks.
Hi, thanks for watching! There's no aftertouch on this keyboard. I did connect a sustain pedal, so that's what you're seeing there. :)
as the figures are shown on the staff, if you play for example a chord, they are placed horizontally or side by side
Hi, thanks for watching! It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, they're arranged at an ascending angle, lowest note on the bottom left and highest note top right.
Hi Floyd, very nice review, I have a few questions:
1. Is this keyboard class compliant, i.e., can it be used as co troller keyboard for an iPad with a USB printer cable and the Camera Connecrion Kit?
2. How does this keyboard compare with Casio CT-X700/800?
3. When connected to a computer, is it possible to upload new styles to this keyboard?
4. How does the keybed feel? I had the Casio CT-X3000 for a few days at home and loved the keybed, the the Yamaha PSR E463 and hated the keybed (which was much better on the older PSR E433).
Thanks.
Hi, thanks for watching!
1.) Yes. It's a standard MIDI device and you should have no problems connecting it to your iPad.
2.) I can't answer that as I never owned the casio keyboards.
3.) No, it's not possible, unfortunately.
4.) The keybed is "flimsy", as shown somewhere in this video. The keys can be pushed sideways and sometimes make clicking noises. But overall, it's a playable keyboard. It's well-suited for piano beginners and it's possible to play with expression.
Floyd Steinberg Thanks 🙏
Hi... Thanks for your review, very helpful. 🙂 I'd have just a little question:
How could I connect this keyboard to an amp or a monitor? (behind it I saw there isn't a dedicate input jack).
Thanks Floyd! 🙃
Hi, thanks for watching :) There are no output jacks. You could buy an adapter cable 6.35mm stereo to 2x6.35mm mono or XLR, though, connecting the headphone out to your amp.
Thanks, really. 😀 You're very gentle...
Great video. Found this model in a "cash converters" style place, wanted to see if it's any good for practicing before I get a decent piano/keyboard. Not sure if you covered this but does it work with a sustain pedal?
Thanks for watching! Yep, you can use a sustain pedal with this, as shown at around 1:00. ;-)
@@mr_floydst Thanks Floyd :) You the man!
Great video pal! With the USB midi feature, can you connect the keyboard to a DAW with just the cable? and also once connected is it used as a normal midi controller?
Hi, thanks for watching! It does not send audio over USB, you'll have to plug in the audio out into your audio interface for that. But yes, you can use this as a MIDI keyboard. It's certainly not the worst keyboard for that purpose.
@@mr_floydst thanks
Hello sir, I want to buy this keyboard but I've never heard about this brand before
I want to use it mainly as a piano, is it good for a beginner?
Hello! Yes, it's perfect for beginners. I thought I made that point clear in the video ;-)
These are basically rebadged Yamaha keyboards so you should be fine.....
Thanks, Good Review, but I have a problem with connecting it to my computer.
Is it possible to connect it to a computer with Windows 10, because I tried it with Audacity and Reaper, but it could not connect to the device and I couldn't record something
Hello Flavio, thanks for watching. As far as I remember, this keyboard does not support audio over USB. The USB interface is MIDI only (which means you can remote control your PC and your PC can remote control your keyboard). So you'll need to connect the keyboard's audio out to your PC's audio in additionally to record it.
@@mr_floydst Ok Thanks
Thx for the review
You're welcome! :-)
How can I connect to a sound card to record models?
Best is to get an USB Audio interface. www.musicstore.de/en_US/EUR/Behringer-UCA-222-USB-Audio-Interface/art-PCM0008615-000
Thanks for the review! Are the keys full sized?
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, they are full-sized. Best regards
Hello, Floyd :) Thanks for the informative review) Is there any way at all to save the recordings? Like saving to PC through USB, for example.
Hi, thanks for watching! There is no way to save the recordings you created directly on the Keyboard. But if you connect this to your PC, you can record all your performances in any sequencer (Cubase, Reaper, Logic...) because this keyboard has MIDI over USB.
@@mr_floydst Thanks for the answer, Floyd) One more question (maybe a bit stupid). Does a sequencer record the expressiveness of the performance? Or it only records the pitch and duration?
@@michaelisraelian It will record every attribute: Note, Velocity, Pitch Bend, Loudness, and more.
The sounds are the same or very similar to i think the yamaha psre443 or psre453 or maybe even the tyros 1. Not a bad keyboard. The samples are nice
They may sound similar, but velocity sensivity is much better on the more expensive keyboards. I think this one has only one sample for all "loudnesses", it just changes the volume of the sound depending on how fast you hit the keys.
Could you tell me if the electric guitar sound of this keyboard is good? Or could you send me some audios of that sounds? Thank you!
As far as I remember, the sounds for acoustic&clean electric guitars aren't bad. Distorted guitar is awful, though, as it always is on such cheap keyboards. Perhaps I can record some samples when I visit my niece next time and I'll upload them somewhere then.
Thank you. Your answer is really helpful. If some of the sounds of the electric guitar are good, it is enough for me!
Hey the little piece you played to test the sound quality - is that original or could you let me know what it is? Sounded beautiful!!
Hello, thanks for watching. That piece is called "Rain" and it's from the video game HALO. ruclips.net/video/yWh9l8RSkPk/видео.html

@@mr_floydst amazing!! Great tutorial thanks for the information
Is it good for playing dark ambient music? I want to record my own music and don't want to spent a lot of money because I play guitar and Bass mainly.
Hi, for that style of music, you might want to look for something else. Consider buying a used Korg 05 or a used Yamaha CS1-X, which are around 100 € on eBay. Also, get a good Reverb Pedal or Plugin (Valhalla is pretty good, and The Zoom Multistomp Pedals are good value for your money). Good luck! And don't hesitate to link your music here. ;-)

@@mr_floydst one 1000 thanks. You have a New Sub.
can you maybe give us a link to where you bought it?
Yes, of course. I've added a link in the description.
(Answering in english for other interested readers because it's an interesting question) Compared to Yamaha's and Casio's keyboards in the same price range, this is far superior because of the velocity sensitive keyboard. The General MIDI sounds are quite good (Pianos, Strings, Woodwind, Reed). There are over 300 sounds here, and some of them do not sound good. You can hear the samples looping, or there's some audible hiss or noise. But those are few and far in between. Some of the sounds are only variations of other sounds. But all in all, this thing sounds pretty good, considering it's low price tag. If you want studio quality sound, have a look at the Yamaha MX 49. This one is perfect for piano beginners.
I'm sorry Floyd (I try to ask you), but... Could you link the adapter-cable which I should have (or perhaps where I could shop) to connect the keyboard to another out (amp or monitor)? I'm not so sure to understood the type really I need... 🙄 Thanks for all by the way, for each answer you gave me. Like I said; you're been gentle. And sorry for my english, unfortunately I'm italian. 😅
Hi Fred, no problem! :) Try this: www.thomann.de/de/cordial_cfy_6_vpp.htm?offid=1&affid=330 Best regards!
Depending on the connectors on your amp, also take a look at this one: www.thomann.de/de/pro_snake_tpy_2015_jmm.htm?offid=1&affid=330
Thank you so much... ☺ So, it was I thought. Mmm, ok, I really hope could go this cable. My doubt it's just for an amp, which usually have only one input.
For monitors, in live, direct to the line, should be ok... Thanks again Floyd. 🙂
What kind of adapter should i get for the keyboard?
Thanks for watching. For connecting it to your PC, you'll need a standard USB cable: www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B00NH11KIK/ref=psdc_464394_t1_B00NH13DV2
For connecting it to speakers, you need something like this: www.amazon.com/dp/B000068O1J
Very nice Video! But I have a question: Do you have to connect your Keyboard with a PC or do you just have to connect it with a socket respectively the power plug? Cause I maby want to buy the Startone MK - 300 too. Would be great if you would answer
Hi, thanks for watching! You can use this standalone without a PC. PC is needed for recording songs only.
Thanks for answering! And you really can play all music pieces on it?
Well, Piano and strings and pop music in general? Yes, you can. Doom Metal and Tibetan throat singing: Perhaps not. ;-)
Thank you very much!
Is it possible to use like a midi controller, with Kontakt software for example?
Hi! Thanks for watching my video. Yes. Just plug it in via USB and you can use it as a midi controller.
@@mr_floydst What size should be the midi USB cable for this specific keyboard? I can see there are a thousand sizes in Amazon... Please help... I want to connect this keyboard to my laptop. THank you!
Hello Rocio, thanks for watching! A normal USB printer cable should do.
Can this piano save your recordings and if yes can it save multiple recordings
Thanks for watching! It can record exactly one Song and that can't be saved. It's just for practicing.
Can you install a adapter for headphones?
Hi, thanks for watching. There's a headphone out on the back of the keyboard. You can use an adapter to connect external speakers or a mixer, too.
hey, would you recommend this to an absolute beginner? I want a cheap keyboard with sensitive touch, is this for me?
In this price bracket, it's still the best choice, especially for people who are not yet 100% certain if they'll commit to learning playing the piano.
@@mr_floydst I understand, I took a look at Yamaha PSR e373, it sounds amazing and the price is not too much, but then I saw this one and its price so idk what to do hahaha, thanks dude!!
As I found no such fine test about the Startone MK-400: the Startone MK-400 seems to be identic to the Medeli MK-401, global name MK-402.
I am glad to have preferred the Starton MK-400 to the MK-300. I don't need most of the features, but the keys seem to be of a better quality as is reported in some tests of the MK-300. They have equal gaps, there is no mechanical noise when pressing them, and they produce sound even at minimal pressure, sensitivity adjustable in five steps (step 1 is roughly like on my beloved Roland E-14).
Thank you very much for your helpful comment! I asked Thomann if they'd like to lend me a test unit (as this video here is used in shop web pages all over the world for promotion) but they didn't reply. Thinking about just buying one, shoot a video and then sell it again... The sampling function looks quite interesting on the MK-400.
@@mr_floydst In Germany, Thomann take back their goods within 30 days after sending, no questions asked, full refund, if there are no traces of usage. Then they sell the returns at a little discount - recently they had a MK300 for 111 instead of 119 Euro.
Maybe that even was the reason why they did not bother to answer you?
@@mr_floydst I like the sound of the MK-300's piano. It makes me wonder if the MK-400 shares some sounds like that with the MK-300, with perhaps a better keybed and more.
@@inkpapers-1 I wish Thomann could send me one to review, but so far, no answer. :)
does this keyboard has Synthesia support?
Synthesia supports all MIDI devices, so the answer is "yes".
Which is better, the startone mk 300 or the yamaha ypt 240
Thanks for watching! The Yamaha YPT 240 has no velocity sensivity and the sounds are not really good. The Startone is better value for your Money.
Thank you very much
Thank you very much for your review it is also or a clone of a Kurzweil. Crazy how many times M series has been cloned. That appears we have another Behringer, lol
Thanks for watching and pointing that out! I wasn't aware of this...
Does it have a sustain feature pls..?
Yes! You can connect a sustain pedal. I said it somewhere in this video... ;-)
Hey dude, I'm a beginner, would this be good to start off with?
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes, it's a good Keyboard for beginners.
Alex S. Yeah, thanks, it seems good, it has the touch sensitivity thing which I've heard is quite nice, and the price ain't bad.
meemay. hey, have u started playing piano?
Hello! First of all thank you for the review. I am looking for a piano to give to my girlfriend who wants to start practicing, it would be her first time. I have seen this model and I have been attracted by its low price. Would you recommend it for beginners?
Hi, thanks for watching! This is a good keyboard for learning the basics and playing with expression. I'd recommend it to people who are not yet sure if they want to learn to play the piano. You'll eventually want to move to better things, though (for example weighted or semi-weighted keyboards which feel like a real piano).
@@mr_floydst thank you very much for your reply. I think that for the price range of this type of "pianos" it is a good choice. If in the future she is still interested she can buy a more complete one.
Does it have full size keys?
Hi! Yes, it has full size keys.
Is it possible to demo more than 5 voices? Maybe show a choir and some bass?
Thanks for watching! Maybe. As I said in the video, this was a present, so whenever I visit her I might record some more sounds for demo. :-)
that would be lovely :)
Hardly anyone would expect XLR connections on a 100 euro keyboard. So I wouldn't take this point of the review too seriously. Still, a good video that influenced my decision to buy a present for my 12-year-old daughter.
Thanks for watching! Yeah you've got a point there. :-)
Here I am, again... 🙄 Sorry Floyd, this time I would ask if, in your opinion, the drums are good enough for all rhythm sessions I need, in my instrumental compositions... I mean; we're talking about a native 24 bit sound sample... Or I should get others vst and use that as a midi controller? 🤔 Always a huge thanks... 😊
Hi! I can't say if those are 24bit. I think the drums sound pretty good (considering the price of this keyboard) but a DAW with some good VSTs will provide better sound. You can use this to compose and arrange music, but the result will sound very "General MIDI". :-)
@@mr_floydst Always a thousand of Thanks... 😊
Can you compare this model against another products ( Casio, Yamaha)?
Hey, thanks for watching my video. Sorry, I can't really compare it with other keyboards in this price range because I didn't buy them. But (if this helps) this is the only "cheap" keyboard with sustain pedal, pitch bend and velocity. You'll have to pay at least 175€ to get that with other brands.
Ok, but can you tell something more about this low (unstanded) key (sorry for my english i'm not good of it) that you show at the end. It is couse low polifoni number or what? In my opinion it could be big problem with this keyboard.
No, the polyphony of this keyboard is big enough. The keyboard is a little bit flimsy: If you play a note very softly, sometimes no note will be played. This should be no problem unless you play _very_ romantic ballads. :-)
What software do you use in the computer. ?
Hi, thanks for watching! That's cubase. Using it since the Atari days.
@@mr_floydst thanks! !! Your video is Just perfect! !
Could you play with this in an amateur rock band?
Definitely! You'll need an adapter cable, though.

Your recording won't be stored permanently. Turn off the keyboard and it's gone.
@@mr_floydst
Thanks so much, makes sense. I've just subbed you!
If I play it into my DAW will sounds be recorded, or just the midi notes (pitch, length and velocity) for me to assign sounds to on my DAW? Or maybe neither! I'm hoping my USB MIDI cable will work, I don't have an old school MIDI cable.
It does not transfer audio over USB, only MIDI. But you can always connect the audio out to your PC's audio interface to capture that.

Is the headphone port 3,5 or 6,3mm?
Thanks for watching! 6.35mm it is.
Floyd! Would u recomend this for a beginner that wants to learn to play.
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, this is a good beginner's keyboard. The keys are a bit wobbly, but other than that, the sounds are reasonably good and the speakers are reasonably loud. Plus it's velocity sensitive and has a pedal socket (important for piano lessons).

should i buy this one or casio ctk-3500?
Hi, thanks for watching! I can't really answer that question because I never played the Casio. There are videos online. The Casio has velocity sensitivity, too, but I think the piano sounds nicer on the Startone. And the Casio seems to be more expensive? But don't take my word on it. If possible, try both yourself. Hey, i want to buy Mk 200 do you know wheter it is good for beginners
Hi, thanks for watching! As for as I know, the MK200 is slightly stripped down (only 32 instead of 64 voices, no Reverb effects), but the piano sounds "ok" and you can use a sustain pedal with it, and it's velocity sensitive (you can play soft and loud depending on how hard you hit the keys). They have some short videos on their website: www.thomann.de/de/startone_mk_200.htm I'm trying to convince @MusikhausThomann to send me one for review but so far I haven't heard anything - my channel is too small, I guess ;-)
@@mr_floydst Thanks🙏
@@mr_floydst what is reverb effect? and is the difference between 32 and 64 voices evident?
@@paolacaliandro5935 The Startone has 2 Effects you can turn on. "Reverb" is giving you the impression you're playing in a big hall, and "Chorus" adds slightly detuned variations of your Instrument to the mix, so everything sounds richer. The difference between 32 and 64 voices isn't evident if you're playing piano only, but once you start arranging songs, more voices equals better performance.

Is this piano a good start piano? I am having thoughts over this one, a Yamaha pf70 or ez220.
I don't have a clue and it's a holiday present for my daughter who plays the guitar perfectly and now wants to play a piano.

This was recommended by piano teachers back then, it's the only keyboard in this price range that has velocity sensitive keys and a sustain pedal connector.
Thx for replying. So it seems then a great starter one. I think the sensitivity of the keys is important. Like a real piano I guess. I found it including stand and pedal for 100€ I assume it's s good price (second hand)
@rtr9746 yes, that's a good deal. :-)
Hi again. Just one advice from you. What would you choose, this piano or a Yamaha pf70(100 €)or ez220(70€) and an mk 1000(60€) all cone with a stand. As I don't have any clue of piano's I need advice before spending 100€ into something that might not be good. My daughter knows to play the guitar very well and also a bit piano, so I want a good one for her without breaking the bank. Thx in advance
Nice video :)
Can you tell me the name of the song at 2:30?
It sounds like a track from the game "the whispered world" but i can't seem to find it.
Thanks for watching. Here's the song you're searching for. ruclips.net/video/yWh9l8RSkPk/видео.html
@@mr_floydst Thanks for the fast answer. I was sure i heard it in a videogame before :)
Can I play Reggae Riddim and or Reggae Bubble with it?
Hey, thanks for watching. Yes! And it wouldn't sound half bad, I guess. The drums&percussion and bass sounds on this keyboard are really nice. If you do it, please post a video of your efforts, I'd be your first subscriber.
Wow thank you for the prompt answer :) I booked this keyboard 1 hour ago. Hope I will receive it soon! And send you a video if I'm improved my play skills on keyboard :) You helped me very much thank you so much !!! ( sorry for my not perfect english )
@@JahSoulJah91 and when can we enjoy your first video? :)
@@chris1978nl unfortunately I stopped playing Keyboard :/
But I play a new Instrument now :)
Thanks for your response.
I hope you doing fine :)
It feels heavy the touch?
No, not at all. The keys are typically light, as all synthesizer keyboards. The device itself is very light to carry, too.
We have that in our school
Thanks for watching! OK, your teachers (or colleagues?) did their homework, then, and have proven to be skilled in the art of cost/benefit-analysis. :-)
@@mr_floydst thanks! They're teachers I'm in class 8 and actually I live in germany so please excuse my bad english.
@@tinyoven3988 Darf der kevin bei mir spielen kommen ?
Is it reliable? I mean resistant
Thanks for watching! You can take this "on the road" without worrying too much.
I can't find w10 drivers for it :( Can someone help me ?
Hey, thanks for watching. As far as I remember, you don't need drivers. Windows will detect it as a "Standard MIDI Interface" or something similar. If it doesn't work, try another USB cable.
I'm using Win10 classic usb midi driver, it doesn't work
I tried with Yamaha but still the same, the keyboard is seen as a speaker
are the sounds cming from the speakers?
Hi, thanks for watching! No, for this video, I recorded the audio outputs (cable connection).
@@mr_floydst do you think it sounds nice through the speakers? i'm not a beginner, i just want a portable piano as i am an international student in the uk. most good ones are quite expensive and i'm trying to keep it below £100.
@@syazlynms The speakers are "ok". They're loud enough for a living room, but your will always be aware you're listening to speakers, not an actual piano.
@@mr_floydst thank you for replying so quickly. which affordable keyboards (
@@syazlynms I think this here is among the best - though there's been an update, the Startone MK-400, which is a bit more expensive (but not much).
Another good option is the Roland GO:Piano, but that one is much more expensive.
I think this is an imitation of one of yamaha’s psre keyboards.
its a copy of alesis harmony 61
Can you transpose the tonality ?
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes. There are dedicated transpose buttons on the right side of the display.
@@mr_floydst Thank you very much, that’s great, you have transpositor thank you very much for answering!! , another question, the speakers are quite powerful not 10 watts? thank you very much
As I said in the video, they're powerful enough for a small (class)room. You could for example use it to play along to a small group of people / a group of small people singing. ;-)
@@mr_floydst Just for that power is worth it, you don’t need, in some cases, you don’t need amplification apart!! thank you very much!!
@@mr_floydst In the end, I bought it, I’m happy with it, considering what it is for , is the first video that later did not change my perception live , thank you very much!!
Ok, so I bought this keyboard, but I'm not sure touch sensitivity works as it should. Or maybe I'm not accustomed to playing the piano. Often when I don't press the key hard enough, there's no sound. Again, maybe if you play the real piano it's the same, but I own an older Casio keyboard and it doesn't happen. I'm upset :(
Hi, I'm sorry to hear that. There's an option to adjust key sensitivity. Did you try that already?
@@mr_floydst wow, what a fast resposne, thanks. Yes, it's to the max (3) and it still happens. I guess I will have to bear it in mind ond remember to put enough pressure or play without touch response.
@@millie5205 The keyboard isn't perfect by any means (though my main criticism is the "wiggle room" the keys have, they move left & right a lot). But I found it was playable with expression rather nicely. If you're "moving up" from a keyboard that does not have velocity sensitivity, then it might take a while to get accustomed.
@@mr_floydst the old one had touch response, but it was better (or maybe worse, who knows ;) that's why it's harder now; too bad I can't compare it with the real piano, but when I have the chance, I'll check how it compares.
There are some similar observations: m.thomannmusic.com/startone_mk300_reviews.htm?r=13&s=stars
Thanks for this Review//Danke für das Review.
I am going to buy it and I hope it's good for a beginner. I didn't find a other beginner Keyboard under 130€ with very good settings. Sorry for my bad English.

*nimmt norddeutschen akzent an* joah ach nich dafür, nä? :-)
I want a keyboard that's pretty cheap, I can record stuff with using my computer and a daw that has a reverb function and can make sounds similar to the chords in i must apologise from pinkpantheress ( ruclips.net/video/QrcrrIlKen0/видео.html ), do you think this keyboard is suited for me or is there some other keyboard which would be better suited for me? I'm very new to music.
Hi, thanks for watching. The MK-300 is still not a bad choice for a beginner's keyboard. In the meantime, a successor, the MK-400, was released, which might be worth a look.
everywhere copies
medeli a300 = kurzweil kp 150
medeli m361 -= kurzweil kp 110
medeli m17 = startone mk 300
classic cantabile cpk 403 = medeli a300 = kurzweil kp 150
medeli a100 = classic cantabile cpk 303
Thanks for clarifying that! Renaming this video isn't a good strategy for my channel, though. ;-)
Top :)
Piano sounds great (or is it your playing ). Ah strings are strings . Drums are ok . The piano is probably the better part of it . Tell y I have old Yamaha love the piano the rest of it is bla. Got the ex5 and well never went back .
Yes, the sounds are so-so, at least compared to workstation synths. But this keyboard is only $130, and at that price at beats all the competition hands down. I tried some yamaha and casio keyboards in that price range and they all sound horrible (mostly due to the lack of velocity sensitivity), but this one sounds quite ok.
Good for young beginners.
Nice but no guitar sound at all?
Hi, thanks for watching! It has guitar sounds, but I didn't show them here. It's a selection of steel, nylon and electric guitar. As usual, the acoustic instruments sound better, while electric guitar sounds horribly artificial.
Ah that's why i do not eard them. Well i think the medeli akx10 or the the thomann akx1100 (wich are the same made by medeli too) are a much better choise for a good keybord. Yes it cost much but at least it's better to wait to have the money to buy this one of these ones than to buy this toy. What do you think? have you tested the akx?
I like your english
haha :) not sure if that was to be taken as a compliment or sarcastic. I'm trying to improve...
meant it as a compliment
my piano is up a tone how can i adjust it? :( my c sounds like my d
Hi, thanks for watching! Do you own this very keyboard? Please press the "transpose" button "-" one or two times. It should be on the left side of the display (see www.manualslib.de/manual/109922/Thomann-Startone-Mk-300.html?page=19&term=transp&selected=1#manual )
@@mr_floydst thank you so much💕💕
Ugh. Folks, please for your own sake, buy a used yamaha motif instead!
... if you can find one for $79, that is. ;-) This keyboard doesn't sound very good, but for it's price, it's got many features others in this price range don't have. Of course even a 20 year old motif sounds so much better, but you'll have to pay at least 10 times more for the used ones.
Alex S. You got me! 🙏
Alex S. For that price its not bad.
