- What would your little room be in this place? There is a lot you can do with a basic room when you have free access to power tools. Just gotta kill a few zombies and bam, new shelf!
Remember that knocking down a wall is really easy once you get the Sledgehammer. It can really change the pace of the places you live in, allowing you to change room layouts to what YOU want. I still think you should keep a chunk of the building the same though, just to keep the original intent of the space. Kind of like honoring it's history.

Well now I need to start a rosewood run to live in the fire station, I don't think it will turn out as well as this, but you never know. Also the Idea of personal dorms is actually really cool, I like that you took the time to make all of them unique.
The original plan was to make the Dorm rooms resemble each of Fallout: New Vegas' characters. However I figure I should probably space the themed videos out, and it would serve better as more generalized rooms for this build. Also I accidentally spawned too many Pikachu dolls and wanted to make a room for them.
If playing Singleplayer Survival, I'd recommend knocking out the stairs and use rope ladders to live on the second floor. Try utilizing the area by the fake fire pole like I did, having a rope ladder inside of your build can be very secure. Then you can access the garage for travelling, and outside for growing crops. When you're one person, these larger buildings can be a struggle to utilize fully, so don't bother trying to use EVERY ROOM. Walling off and containing your home to a part/floor of a building can be very effective and cozy.
If you choose firefighter profession and choose to spawn in Rosewood, the game will always spawn you here (if you'd like to make the start easier)
Just a little warning: if you try and build stairs directly through the roof, be careful as there are slanted roofs on both the main and garage buildings. You’ll fall straight through these, so make sure to make wooden floor tiles round the sides
Broken legs arent fun…
the easy solution is to take out the wall upstairs for easy roof access and build your water collectors directly over your sinks to have an active water supply. You could do this much earlier since you dont need the tech to build stairs
My character has fallen off that roof THREE TIMES already. Third time had him laid up for almost a week. XD Zombies aren't going to kill me. The goddamn roof falls are. XD
The floor next to the walls are ghost blocks. If it rains you can see which floors aren’t real as the ground won’t be wet there

I love how the fire station has a dedicated hotbox room. No amount of decaying corpses will mask the zaza.
Located deep in the building to keep the fumes out. You can also blast music without worry of the hordes eating your face (don't test in game I haven't).
This is my go to base in rosewood even in singleplayer. Nice seeing having a makeover!

This is my main base right now where I'm trying to rebuild EMS services so i turned the back into an outside clinic with hospital beds and the blue medical sheets separating each one with some white cabinets and random other medical furniture. I really like the dorm room idea, so I think I'm going to do something similar, I didn't know what to do with those washrooms and showers but I thing that's perfect!
I honestly took a day to think of what to do for that Shower/Washroom/Changeroom for a few days. At work I suddenly thought of tearing down walls and putting up dorm rooms. These are pretty much the minimum size I'd be using too, they're JUST big enough for storage and comfort.
I am a new player and decided to settle down in the fire department for the garage and massive loot that was there, since i couldnt pick everything. Im definetely gonna copy some of your designs, massive base design and good video overall.
Remember that these builds in game take a while, and are done over a period of time. Not EVERY room has to pop off at first, nor be even USED for most SP playthroughs. I make my videos in God Mode with no zombies, but they are all modelled from my long-term playthroughs. It took an in-game six weeks to do the "Facility" build, and that was in game fighting 3x zombies in a modded military zone as an advanced player.
Start with a room or two, realize "Oh hey, I need a place to store JUST all these canned goods I'm looting" and now you have a small room that the Canned Goods room. Or the Weapons/crafting room is now too cramped so now you need a separate Workshop/Armory. The VHS and Books now take up two bookshelves, make a TV room.
Every build is most likely gonna be better than your last, keep at it and you'll love your home!

i had plans for upstaurs but downstairs was srill so barren

Do the abandoned factory above Riverside! Dunno why, but I really like that place. It’s huge, I feel there’s a lot of potential for it. Plus it’s pretty empty so you can make any room whatever you want. With how remote it is, there isn’t many zombies, but that means supplies can be difficult. But with how much free space there is, you could make a farm.
Factory is a little too big, but straight up I'm working on the Factory Storage with the plethora of crates. It's got a white chair on the roof.

Thanks! It's my largest build so far by a long shot. Technically the 4 Corner one is the tallest, but this is def the largest in area.
It’s really interesting seeing someone fully utilize the fire station. My usual/current way I build this base out is by forsaking the majority of the bottom floor as what would be “lost land” (really it’s just designed to look decrepit), and turn the garage and top floor into a suitable large living space.
Hence me making it a Multiplayer base. I struggled getting a good sense of what to do until I gutted the shower/changing rooms. I would honestly do what you did if playing Solo. Imagine me trying to utilize all of a goddamn school, it isn't happening even on this series :P
Then again... if that farming update is any good...
@@DamienDarkside honestly yeah. Break down one of the walls, and you could easily turn that back lot into a open pasture for your animals while making the majority of the first floor a barn. Would require a lot of destroy walls though.
Also for the school thing. My most creative build was creating a roof top base on the riverside school. Just take the utility room, and the closed off room next to it, and then build out whatever you want on the two roofs. It’s still a lot of space to allow for creativity and utility, but it’s not so crazy large that it would be impossible in single player.
The ladders mod makes it so you slide down the pole! And climb up n down almost any ladder in game, makes billboards great safezones
I do LOVE that bedroom hallway, never really thought about doing something like that. What I will say is that fencing the sides of the FD is not good enough for me, especially with an easy access to your armory.
I like to fence the front as well, taking both ends of the metal fence as my start and finish, adding the gates for vehicle access. That way nothing can sneak in through the front door or any of the two windows.

Now I feel compelled to make a small mod rendering the sliding poles functional (one-way teleport at the very least).
This is the most creative base i've ever seen in Project Zomboid. Thank you for this wonderful idea.

I really want to do this on a server now. They need to have fire spread off tho. Also I love what you did with the shower rooms. Didn’t think a dorm hallway would work that well there.
I personally would store my equipment i would use when i go o expeditions, i am a stylish type so I have hoke clothes, war clothes, expedition clothes and farmig clothes

the only problem with it is opening up the hole once it isn't working, I've died due to it not working and then suddenly the hole opens, guess I shouldn't have been messing around near a hole in the floor.. but still
i built my base here, everything was good until the helicopter event, took me ten hours to build up the base. they took my garage doors out so I double log doored them up. i took the stairs out and blocked off all the extra rooms, kept my guns in the the garage second and had a pretty good set up.
Heyo! Late reply but I recommend hitting up a bunch of radios to find the Emergency Broadcast Station. The frequency changes with every new world file.
The radio will tell you "Air Activity Detected" in the morning on the days the Heli comes. Staying indoors will assist in keeping that thing away, and it will pass over quickly.
I also recommend clearing as many zombies as possible from the surrounding area, obtaining a car, and staying indoors as the helicopter passes.
Eventually you turn off helicopters because you use them to loot other areas instead of treating them as threats. The devs wanna change it.

I'm glad people from the Twitch side like these videos. I wanted to make more content than just basic streams. With work being all fucky I can do an hour of PZ flipping in between other things.
I still aim on streaming twice a week, but with Christmas and Casinos, we're BUSY. So I'm glad to make this content and it appeals to people.

My locker has a sawed off DB and 10 boxes of shotgun ammo in a duffle along with essential meds
Separate could be the holy trinity (screwdriver saw and hammer) along with an axe or crowbar for good measure!
Oh and you cant forget the keys to your bug out vehicle in the duffle

I just started playing and would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to build this with some peeps on a multiplayer server.
playboys, pipe and tobacco, matches/lighter, maybe a 5th of bourbon. some photographs from "before", a memento or two. The LotR novels and films(even if you couldn't watch em). shit like that would be in my locker

my solo was i put plank walls to wall to the front side of the building i put crates halfway to the garage (stacked 3 on each one) it wasnt enough so i put some more creates on the outside and after the power/electricity turnoff i had to take a generator so i put it to the right side of it but my fridge wasnt getting the electric it needed so i had to put it next to the gen and i had a lot of perishable food after i did a s***load of farming on the backside i took 3 more fridges and put them there but it still wasnt enough (s***load of yeah absloute 240 kg worth of food) so i took 3 freezers and for the water i put around 10-14 ig water barrels to collect them in barrels and i had to purify all the water by hand

My current base is the fire station. I’m currently day 27. The biggest hiccup I had with this base is the helicopter event happened and a horde of zombies broke both garage doors and a bunch of windows. Took me three in game days to remove the horde and to repair all the damages.
I had literally the exact same happen to me yesterday, has taken me ages but I’ve finally done it. How did you replace the garage doors? I just simply constructed walls in there place

As an architecture student I'm really enjoying this type of content! I suggest any of the farmhouses on the map. Like the North Farm outside Muldraugh or the one on the eastern outskirts of Riverside, just past the gated community. I'd love to see your take on these types of buildings
Id love to see you flip the building near the trailer park in riverside. Its the smaller warehouse with 2 garage doors and roof access. Thats the first place i made it a month in and works well for a mechanic build. Thanks for the great videos!

Im playing a run in the fire station right now and you made me realize i need a sledgehammer.
When you break a few walls down to make two rooms one large room a few times, it really opens up possibilities.
Just remember you need Lvl 3 walls (7 CAR iirc), Plaster Powder, a Bucket, Water, Paintbrush and Paint if you wish to really make your rooms pop more than "wood".
@@DamienDarkside my dad and I are in the fire station and we just got our perimeter walls up with a farm in the back. My first character hot wired 80% of the cars in town but I got bit on a fishing trip cause we just did an ammo run and I was feeling trigger twitchy. My new character is a stone cold vet, Crowbar/brawler + two revolvers/hunter for aiming Xp. Clearing zombies is a breeze now.
Very underrated spot is the farming store in the small town just north of rosewood. Get a car, go there for guns/food/tools/seeds (All 4 in one place! What a bargain!) makes for a very easy start.
I'm surprised you didn't barricade the ground floor windows on the front.
I slay enough zombies in my normal playthroughs that I end up taking off my barricades. Maybe when NPCs are added I'll board up more.

Hey I think I've had a few requests on this one. Is this the Factory place that's near the Riverside Country Club and Golf Course? It seems to have a Gas Station, Trailer Park, Diner, and Self Storage nearby. If that's the one I've looked into a few of those buildings for ideas. Specifically the Factory Storage that has a plastic chair on it's rooftop if you look at the Online Map.
@@DamienDarkside Yeah that’s the one. I typically go for the storage building because it’s smaller and a bit easier to defend.

I just mape an everest sized mountain of loot in the middle of the kitchen and called that my base
you inspire me to try recreate your works but as far i has have not found any axe in firehouse or firetruck... yet
Axes of any type can be used for combat and chopping trees. Hand Axes, Wood Axes, and other ones can usually be found in Hardware Stores. Hand Axes are also sometimes rammed inside of zombie bodies that you can loot after you survive a while.
Push comes to shove, you can craft a pretty weak axe with low skill. It can chop a tree down, and get you some XP.

how come the front of the base wasn't fortified? Lots of entry points for zombies/raids.
Did you build your gates with a doorknob you have a key for? If you do that then even if they jump the fence no one can open the gates to drive the cars out.

Sorry im a bit of a noob, but how did you get the water from the collectors out back to the sinks around the base. I know you can fill items and transport and I also know you can plumb collectors into taps, but I thought they had to be directly above the taps? Thanks 👍
Common misconception! They can also be one tile off to be connected, and directly above. So having one elevated, one tile behind the square that has the sink/bath/shower will plumb it.
The Restaurant build I think has them directly on top. This does not, and I can "plumb" them.
The Caesar's Legion build has the barrel two tiles off, and I don't know why it allowed it, apart from corner tile Shenanigans.

Great video! I'm new to the game but have been staying at this fire station on my first couple run throughs. Question: I didn't see your generators in the video. How are you keeping the the lights on this far into the game?
I'm still relatively new to the whole RUclips thing and making this series :P I forgot to slap one down for this. You can easily pop one in the back, connect it after reading the magazine, and it will power the building.
The new build I am making is guaranteed to have a generator. As for how I still have power? Sandbox Settings for the max power and water setting. Although all my builds without Creative end up like this normally though gameplay, I don't have the time to do this vanilla in PZ for every video.
